Abstract

A lack of concentration among pupils leads to noise in the classroom and causes them to become easily bored whilst studying and lose focus during lessons. Through individual counselling, counsellors and teachers help pupils understand that boredom is a natural psychological response, but one that needs to be managed. They also provide guidance on active learning techniques to minimise boredom during lessons. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of individual counselling in improving students’ concentration in learning at Sanggar Kampung Pandan, Malaysia. This study employs a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study was conducted in Year 1 with four students. The research method used was quantitative, involving the administration of a pretest before the service was provided and a posttest after the service was provided. The improvement in students’ learning concentration at Sanggar Kampung Pandan Melayu indicates an increase, as seen from the mean pretest score of 37.75 and the mean posttest score of 46.75. Furthermore, the t-test result showed a p-value of 0.000, thereby confirming the effectiveness of individual counselling in improving students’ learning concentration at Sanggar Kampung Pandan, Malaysia. Abstract

Final-year students face complex academic demands, such as completing their thesis, while some simultaneously engage in freelance work to meet economic needs and gain professional experience. This condition requires optimal self-management skills to maintain a balance between academic responsibilities and work commitments. This study aims to examine the implementation of Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) among final-year students who work freelance in Bandar Lampung, focusing on metacognitive, motivational, and behavioral aspects. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design and methodological triangulation through interviews and documentation involving three informants. Data were analyzed using NVivo 15 to identify patterns of SRL implementation. The findings indicate that students are able to apply planning, monitoring, and self-evaluation strategies in their learning process, although they still face challenges such as time constraints, fatigue, and inconsistency in managing their learning activities. The consistent application of SRL strategies helps students manage both academic and work responsibilities more effectively. Therefore, SRL plays a crucial role in supporting students in balancing academic demands and freelance work. Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of Psychological Capital on Work Engagement among employees of Internasional Komputer. The hypothesis proposed in this study states that the level of employees’ Work Engagement at Internasional Komputer is significantly influenced by Psychological Capital. The method employed is a quantitative approach with a descriptive analytical framework. The study involved all 50 employees of Internasional Komputer as the research sample. This research utilized simple linear regression for data analysis. The instruments used included the Psychological Capital scale, consisting of 23 items, and the Work Engagement scale, consisting of 17 items. Both instruments were tested for reliability, yielding a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.887 for the Psychological Capital and Work Engagement scales. The results of the analysis indicate that 57.9% of the variance in Work Engagement is explained by Psychological Capital, as evidenced by an R-squared value of 0.579, while the remaining 42.1% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Furthermore, the significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05 in the simple regression analysis, indicates that the level of employees’ Work Engagement at Internasional Komputer is significantly affected by Psychological Capital.
