Abstract

Student mental health is an important aspect of education that significantly impacts their academic, social, and emotional development. Teachers play a role in supporting students' mental health. However, previous research has not specifically mentioned the role that teachers can play in supporting students' mental health. Therefore, this study aims to explore the role of teachers in supporting students' mental health using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. Data were collected from the Scopus and PubMed databases using specific keywords, with stages of time frame, data selection, article selection, and article classification carried out on the covidence application and resulting in 13 articles selected through the PRISMA protocol. The results of the study indicate that teachers have a central role in supporting students' mental health through six main strategies: (1) identifying mental health problems, (2) building positive relationships, (3) providing psychosocial support, (4) creating a conducive learning environment, (5) implementing intervention programs, and (6) collaborating with mental health professionals. These findings provide a clear conceptual framework of six teacher strategies in supporting students' mental health, as well as providing guidance for teachers on concrete actions that can be taken to support students' mental health.

Abstract

Adolescence is a stage in which individuals experience various changes within themselves. These changes result in emotional uncertainty, attitudes, and responsibility, especially for adolescents living in orphanages with limited family roles. Therefore, efforts are needed to understand adolescents' self-discipline, such as through reality therapy. The purpose of this study was to apply reality therapy to adolescents at the Wiloso Projo orphanage in Yogyakarta. This intervention aims to increase self-confidence, encourage independence, and strengthen adolescents' social interactions. The research method used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and literature studies. Data analysis focused on data reduction, presentation, and verification. The results showed that adolescents have their own unique problem characteristics that they can identify and analyze independently. Adolescents can recognize the forms of hopes and goals they want to change as a response to understanding themselves. Thus, through reality therapy, adolescent participants can understand their own problems and strive to make changes. This study contributes to the application of reality therapy to adolescents in orphanages and has had a fairly effective impact on understanding their problems

Abstract

This study aims to identify the effects of the implementation of SFBC on the academic resilience of seventh-grade students at MTs Miftahul Arifin Lumajang in the 2022/2023 academic year. A total of 14 students were purposively selected from a total population of 141 students as study subjects. Data were obtained using questionnaires and documentation studies, using an academic resilience scale questionnaire. The output of the data collection process and data processing were carried out to apply the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Mann-Whitney Test using SPSS version 25 software. Academic resilience refers to an individual's capacity to face and overcome various challenges in the educational environment, where perseverance is one of the main indicators. Based on the results of the analysis, a significance value of Asymp.Sig. of 0.018 was obtained in the Wilcoxon Test and 0.003 in the Mann-Whitney Test. Based on the provision that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected if the Asymp.Sig. value is below 0.05, the results of the analysis support the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha). Thus, this study concludes the following: first, there was a significant change in the students' condition between before and after treatment, indicating an improvement after they participated in group counseling services using the scaling question technique. Second, the SFBC approach through group counseling with the scaling question technique was proven to have a positive impact on increasing the academic resilience of seventh grade students at MTs Miftahul Arifin Lumajang.

Abstract

Due to problems that occur among students with family support which may be excessive or insufficient, students often decide to harm themselves or even choose to commit suicide due to stress, depression and so on. This condition of students is caused by a lack of support from family coverage. Among students, suicidal ideation is not a new phenomenon and often occurs among students at universities. There are many students who face severe stress and depression so they have thoughts and even take these actions. This research aims to determine the effect of family support on the intensity of suicidal behavior in students. This research method uses a quantitative approach on 60 students. The instruments used in this research used a purposive sampling technique with the Family Support Scale (FSS) scale questionnaire and the Suicide Behaviors Questionnaire - Revised (SBQ-R). The regression test was used to see the strength of the two variables between family and student support with a p value of 0.002 (p value < 0.05). Based on the explanation regarding the negative impact of depression on life, students need to have the ability to face various difficulties and have resilience and support from the family as protective factors to face challenges that minimize the impact of depression factors.

Abstract

This study aims to implement classical guidance in improving the social skills of tenth-grade students at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Genteng through the cooperative learning method of the jigsaw type. The research employed a Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK) approach conducted in two cycles, consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects were 33 students of class X.3 who experienced difficulties in interacting with peers and teachers. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The findings revealed a significant improvement in students’ social skills after the application of classical guidance integrated with the jigsaw method, as indicated by the increase in self-confidence, communication skills, and group collaboration. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of cooperative learning models into classical guidance services, which are generally dominated by lecture methods. The contribution of this study provides an alternative strategy for guidance services that is more interactive, collaborative, and contextual, serving as a practical reference for school counselors to optimize students’ social skill development in secondary education

Abstract

Basic learning guidance services play a crucial role in supporting students’ academic success and holistic development. Individual differences in character, abilities, and learning styles require systematic guidance to help students maximize their potential. This study aims to elaborate on the concepts, objectives, service types, implementation, and challenges of basic learning guidance services in schools. The research applied a literature review method by examining journals, books, and policy documents published within the last decade. The findings indicate that basic services consist of key components such as classroom guidance, orientation, information, group guidance, and data collection. These services are designed to foster positive attitudes, develop effective learning skills, and assist students in overcoming academic difficulties. However, implementation is still hindered by limited counseling teachers, inadequate facilities, and a low level of public awareness of the importance of these services. The study concludes that basic learning guidance services are essential in education and should be strengthened through collaboration among stakeholders, technology integration, and continuous counselor training to more effectively support students’ academic achievement and overall development.

Abstract

Adolescence is an important period in the formation of self-identity, personality, and social skills that determine the quality of life in adulthood. One of the challenges often experienced by adolescents is conflict, both internal and external, which if not managed properly can have a negative impact on emotional well-being and social relationships. This study aims to improve adolescents' understanding of the importance of conflict management skills and to introduce ways to develop these skills effectively. The scope of the study includes an introduction to the concept of conflict, approaches to increasing awareness and conflict management skills, and the creation of a conducive environment in schools and families. The method used is a literature review of various relevant scientific sources, including journals, articles, and books published in the last five years. The results of the review indicate that conflict management skills can be developed through character education, social skills training, and direct practice, all of which will be more effective if supported by an open and supportive environment. The development of these skills needs to be an integral part of adolescent education through collaboration between educators, counselors, and parents in order to optimally support adolescent social-emotional development

Abstract

Authoritarian parenting is an important focus in child developmental psychology considering that authoritarian parenting has a very significant impact on psychological well-being. The main characteristic of authoritarian parenting is extreme control over children's needs so that it can hinder children's emotional, social, and independent development). This study aims to analyze the influence of authoritarian parenting on the psychological well-being of students at SMA Taruna Gajah Mada Metro. This study uses a quantitative method with a simple linear regression analysis on 155 students selected through simple random sampling. Data collection was carried out using two scales, namely the PAQ scale with validity (ps<.001) = 0.94 and reliability (α = 0.77-0.92) and the PWB scale with validity (V=0.6-0.95) and reality (α=0.543-0.828). The results of the analysis showed that two classical assumption tests, namely the normality and linearity tests, were met, with a significance value of >0.05. The results of the simple linear regression test also show that authoritarian parenting has a significant influence on the psychological well-being of students. This can be seen from the significance value of less than 0.05, which is 0.000. The simple linear regression equation obtained is Y = 38.284 + 0.166X with the result of the R Square value of 0.13. So it can be concluded that authoritarian parenting has a significant influence, which is 13% on the psychological well-being of students at SMA Taruna Gajah Mada Metro.

Abstract

Career decision-making is a crucial phase in adolescents’ lives, often marked by confusion and a lack of self-understanding. This study aims to explore the effectiveness of Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) in assisting high school students in identifying their interests, talents, and making appropriate career decisions. A qualitative case study approach was employed, focusing on a student, referred to as AD, who struggled with career decision-making despite strong academic performance. The intervention consisted of three individual counseling sessions based on the PCT approach, integrated with Gelatt’s five-step decision-making model. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and psychological assessments (graphic, cognitive, and interest tests). The findings revealed a significant improvement in self-awareness, understanding of personal interests, and AD’s self-confidence. Furthermore, the student’s career decision-making difficulty score decreased from a high to a low category. These results indicate that PCT is effective in fostering autonomy, clarifying self-identity, and facilitating more accurate career decisions. Although limited to a single participant, this study contributes to the development of more humanistic guidance strategies in school settings
