Abstract

Verbal abuse in domestic settings is a form of psychological violence that causes serious harm to the mental well-being of victims, both women and men. However, this form of violence is often overlooked due to its non-physical nature and the ongoing social stigma surrounding it. This study aims to explore the characteristics of verbal abuse, its causal factors, psychological impacts on victims, and the reasons victims remain in abusive relationships. A literature review method was employed, analyzing scientific articles published within the last five years from national and international databases. The findings reveal that verbal abuse leads to depression, anxiety, diminished self-esteem, and long-term psychological trauma. Contributing factors include the perpetrator’s personality traits, childhood experiences, power imbalances, and patriarchal culture. Victims tend to remain in abusive relationships due to social pressure, economic dependence, and false hope of change. This study concludes that verbal abuse should be understood as a form of symbolic domination that erodes the victim’s self-concept. The scholarly contribution of this research lies in its psycholinguistic approach, which highlights the role of language as a tool of power and violence in intimate relationships.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group guidance in improving student learning motivation at SMP Negeri 24 Surabaya. The background of this study is based on the low learning motivation of some eighth-grade students identified through initial questionnaires and teacher observations. This low motivation has an impact on a lack of enthusiasm for learning, decreased concentration, and suboptimal learning outcomes. Therefore, an intervention is needed in the form of group guidance services that are believed to facilitate students to share experiences, obtain social support, and foster a positive attitude towards learning activities. This study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach implemented in two cycles. The research subjects were eighth-grade students who have low levels of learning motivation. Data collection was carried out through learning motivation questionnaires, interviews, and observations. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively and qualitatively by comparing motivation scores before and after treatment and observing changes in student attitudes in learning activities. The results showed a significant increase in learning motivation questionnaire scores after participating in group guidance, accompanied by changes in behavior that are more active and enthusiastic in participating in learning. The contribution of this research confirms that group guidance is an effective and applicable service to help increase students' learning motivation in secondary schools.

Abstract

The imbalance between cognitive and affective aspects in the formal education system in Indonesia indicates the need for a more adaptive and integrative counselling service approach. This research aims to develop an educational counselling service management model that integrates the cognitive behavioural therapy approach with the deep learning approach as a solution to the problem. Using a literature review method of recent literature (2023-2024), this article identifies the main contributions of deep learning in learning, particularly in terms of learning personalisation, emotional detection, and data-driven psychological intervention. The findings show that the integration of deep learning and cognitive behavioural therapy enables the development of a counselling model that is able to detect learners' psychological needs in real-time and provide appropriate interventions automatically. The results are expected to strengthen the psychosocial support system in the educational environment, improve learners' well-being, and encourage the creation of a holistic and sustainable learning environment. This research provides a conceptual contribution to the development of deep learning adaptive education policies that are more responsive to the needs of students as a whole.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship between marital happiness and social support with self-acceptance among mothers of children with disabilities at SLBN 3 Banjarmasin. Marital happiness is influenced by good communication, mutual respect, trust, commitment, and the ability to resolve conflicts and create joyful moments. For mothers of children with disabilities, social support is a key factor in fostering self-acceptance. Those living in supportive environments tend to experience greater well-being than those without such support. This correlational research involved 94 mothers of children with disabilities as respondents. The independent variables were marital happiness (X1) and social support (X2), while the dependent variable was self-acceptance (Y). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) method. The results showed a significant positive relationship between marital happiness and social support with self-acceptance. This indicates that higher levels of marital happiness and perceived social support contribute to greater self-acceptance among mothers raising children with disabilities

Abstract

Individuals who have self-confidence are generally able to motivate themselves to continue to develop into a better person from day to day. In essence, humans do not only act as individual beings, but also as social beings who need help and support from others. In living everyday life, social interaction is inseparable as a means of mutual assistance and communication. One effort that can support the development of students' social and personal skills is through cross-class guidance. This service functions as a form of prevention as well as development, with the aim of providing insight, understanding, and experience to students in social, personal, learning, and career aspects, implemented on a large scale for the same class level. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of puzzle games in the use of media through large class guidance services in improving social interaction and self-confidence of students at SMAN 1 Alalak. The research method used is a one group pre-test and post-test design, where measurements are taken before and after the treatment is given. The study population includes 230 students of SMAN 1 Alalak, with a research sample of 62 students. Data analysis was carried out using the T-Test to accurately compare the results of the pre-test and post-test. Research findings show that the use of puzzle game media in large class guidance services has proven effective in improving social interaction skills while fostering students' self-confidence

Abstract

The "sandwich generation" refers to working-age individuals responsible for the financial support of extended family members such as parents, grandparents, or siblings in addition to their own nuclear families. This demographic often faces significant conflict due to financial strain, which can negatively impact their quality of life, job satisfaction, and overall subjective well-being. This study investigates the relationship between self-compassion and subjective well-being among the sandwich generation in Indonesia. Utilizing a quantitative approach, the study sampled 134 working individuals aged 20–60 who provide multi-generational financial support; an additional 50 participants with identical characteristics were included for the pilot study. Data analysis included normality and linearity assumption tests followed by hypothesis testing. The results indicate a significant positive relationship between self-compassion and subjective well-being (p < 0.05). Findings reveal that self-compassion accounts for an 80.2% effective contribution to subjective well-being, suggesting that the remaining 19.8% is influenced by external factors not covered in this study. These results highlight the critical role of self-compassion in maintaining mental health for those navigating multi-generational caregiving demands. Abstract

The benefits of CBT-based counseling services have been widely proven, one of which is through the implementation of this research that evaluated the effectiveness of CBT services in group counseling programs at the high school level to optimize their self-concept. By utilizing a true experimental study setting involving a number of students to carry out the intervention. Data processing went through multi-stage stages starting from paired sample T-test testing with a significance of 0.05. The research also conducted pretest and posttest stages to see differences in experimental results on the t-table, namely degrees of freedom (dk) N-1, and a significance of α = 0.05. The output of the data processing found a t-table value of 1.782, so Ha is "accepted". Findings through analysis of pre-treatment responses showed that students' self-concept was only in the medium category, and even 13 people had low self-concept. Meanwhile, the post-treatment value showed an increase with the post-test results of students who were not in the low group. The T-Test also showed a calculated t-value (7.597) which exceeded the t-table so that group counseling with CBT has been reliably able to improve respondents' negative self-concept and Ha is "accepted". Abstract

The problem found at SMK Abdul Aziz is that some students have low time management skills such as arriving late to school, rarely submitting school assignments, running away from the boarding school because of difficulties in balancing study time, boarding school activities and break time. The existence of this phenomenon, the purpose of the study is to improve time management skills through individual counseling with Self-management techniques. The research method uses a Single-Case Experimental Design approach with an A-B pattern. Respondents numbered 30 students, with 2 samples selected by purposive sampling. Data collection methods were observation, interviews and questionnaires. Statistically, the results of the study were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test using SPSS 23 for the MG score: Z value = -2.060 and Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.039 <0.05. can be interpreted because the significance value is <0.05, so there is a significant difference between students' time management skills before and after the intervention. Likewise, the results of the NF study: Z value = -2.041 and Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) = 0.041< 0.05. This means that individual counseling services using self-management techniques can improve the time management skills of class XB students. Abstract

Research on lecturers' academic integrity is still relatively limited, especially those that simultaneously examine organizational and individual factors in a single structural model. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing lecturers' academic integrity in Indonesia by placing organizational commitment as a mediating variable. The study used a quantitative approach with the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method on 63 lecturers in Indonesia. The results showed that ethical leadership significantly influenced organizational commitment (β = 0.311; p < 0.01). Workload negatively influenced lecturers' academic integrity (β = −0.183; p < 0.05). Meanwhile, ethical competence (β = 0.263; p < 0.05), incentives (β = 0.215; p < 0.05), and academic sanctions (β = 0.222; p < 0.05) had a significant positive effect on academic integrity. In contrast, organizational culture did not show a significant effect on academic integrity (β = −0.147; p > 0.05). In addition, organizational commitment had a strong influence on lecturers' academic integrity (β = 0.391; p < 0.01) and was proven to mediate the relationship between ethical leadership and academic integrity (indirect β = 0.122; p < 0.05). The R² value of 0.709 indicates that 70.9% of the variation in academic integrity can be explained by the research model. This research contributes to the development of academic integrity studies by integrating leadership, organizational, and individual factors in one PLS-SEM-based empirical model.
