Abstract

Hypertension is a global problem that affects many countries and requires proper control to prevent complications. Cupping therapy is a nonpharmacological treatment that can help lower blood pressure in patients with hypertension. Cupping therapy is carried out by removing toxins from the body and improving blood vessel circulation so that it can have a vasodilating effect and reduce blood pressure stably in hypertensive patients. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of cupping complementary therapy in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients at the Cupping Clinic of Nurush Syifa Healthy House Pekanbaru in 2021. In this study, a pre-experimental method was used with a one-group pretest post-test design. The study population was all hypertensive patients, with a sample of 18 people taken using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that there was a decrease in blood pressure in hypertensive patients after undergoing cupping therapy. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.001 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between blood pressure before and after the intervention. In conclusion, cupping therapy can be an alternative nonpharmacological therapy that is effective in reducing blood pressure in hypertensive patients. The results of this study are expected to provide information and benefits for the community and the clinic so that cupping therapy can be better recognized and considered as a way to control blood pressure in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

At the Legok Health Center, the total number of dermatitis cases was 14 in August 2022. Mr. A is one of the patients who suffered from recurrent nummular eczema. He was the reason for conducting the visit. Diagnosis and management were carried out using a family medicine approach. Primary data was obtained through anamnesis, physical examination, and home visits. Secondary data was sourced from patient medical records at the Legok Health Center. Mr. A is 18 years old and has complained of a red sore on the left calf since one month ago. On physical examination, plaques were found in the left femur region and brachii sinistra et antebrachia dextra, localized distribution, colored erythema to hyperpigmentation, lenticular to numeric sizes, arranged in multiples with a circadian configuration, and well demarcated. The patient's internal factors are the lack of knowledge about the disease, the behavior that was often injured, stress, and loneliness. External factors included a lack of family knowledge about the patient's illness, the absence of regular visits from nearby health workers, and inadequate home ventilation. As the family approach was taken, there have been improvements in patient complaints, with the number of wounds complained by patients starting to thin out. The family medicine approach was carried out as a whole for individuals and families by applying the medical, behavioral, and social sciences principles. Individual management is an intervention in clinical aspects and a solution to environmental problems affecting personal health.

Abstract

Research in recent years has focused on developing nanoparticle bioactive compounds extracted from ethanol cardamom due to its potential health benefits. Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) is a spice plant commonly used in traditional medicine to treat various health problems, such as digestive disorders, headaches, and respiratory issues. This study explored the method of producing nanoparticles from bioactive compounds of cardamom ethanol extract using gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) and nanoparticle techniques. The steps for producing nanoparticles through this method consist of several stages, starting with identifying bioactive compounds using GC-MS, followed by producing nanoparticles using Nanoparticle techniques. The measurement results of the prepared chromatography concentrates were performed using Shimadzu GC-MS QP2010 Ultra equipment, and the total ion chromatogram (TIC) of the measured compound molecules was obtained. This study found that the size or percentage of each peak area in the concentrate correlates with the high order of the peak, thus indicating the compound content in the concentrate.

Abstract

The trend of prevalence rate increase of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) with dialysis therapy which is not matched by the availability of adequate peritoneal dialysis units in the community will risk increasing patient morbidity and mortality. Meanwhile, the number of trained dialysis nurses is very limited. The objective is to obtain an overview of nurses' opinions regarding the concept of establishing a nursing-based CAPD unit. This research used a case study method with a descriptive design. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews conducted with 4 nurses from Papua, North Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, and East Java. The instrument was an in-depth interview guide. The dependent variable of the study was the CAPD unit and the independent variables were PD nurses and rural areas. Data were analyzed using the Rapid Assessment Procedures (RAP) model. The results of this study showed that the four informants agreed on four problems related to the urgency of establishing a CAPD unit under nurse management, namely the understanding of the term CAPD with limited socialization, the absence of training for general nurses, the role of general nurses was not yet arranged in a standard operating procedure (SOPs), and the requirements for establishing a CAPD unit by nurses were not yet available. The study recommended the importance of establishing CAPD units under the management of trained nurses, the supervision of certified CAPD nurses, and CAPD consultants, in addition to fulfilling other administrative and technical requirements.

Abstract

Radiographic examination of the anatomy of the body can provide the maximum possible information that is easily determined by the Radiologist, if the quality of the radiographic image is good. To be able to produce radiographs that provide maximum information, optimal radiography is needed. In radiographic examinations, factors are needed that can affect the quality of photos in order to get better results. These factors include the exposure factor. The exposure factor consists of voltage (Kv), tube current (mA) and time (s). The purpose of the study was to determine the exposure factor on the quality of radiographic images on the use of abdominal phantoms with AP projections. The method used was experimental research. In some variations of the expulsion factor, there is no difference in quality both in terms of contrast and sharpness. The images produced from each variation are good and informative, so it can be assumed that the use of the exposure factor is chosen the most minimal so that the exposure or dose received is smaller. Image quality analysis should be made with a wider range of Kv and mAs, and using phantom objects other than abdominal phantoms.

Abstract

Learning models that can be applied to improve students' ability to learn texts are the SQ3R (survey, question, read, recite, review) and SQ4R (survey, question, read, reflect, recite, review) learning models. These two methods are almost the same because SQ4R is a development of the SQ3R method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the SQ3R and SQ4R methods on complementary therapy material in pregnancy at the Padang Sidempuan Central Midwifery Academy in 2022. This study used a pre-experiment design with one group pretest-postest. The population was all midwifery study program students of the Sentral Padang Sidempuan Midwifery Academy. Sampling was carried out using purposive sampling technique on second semester students because second semester students were receiving Complementary Midwifery Care courses. Comparison of student learning outcomes using the SQ3R and SQ4R methods, SQ4R, SQ3R and without using the SQ3R and SQ4R methods shows that "F" count (28.987) is greater than "F" table (2.99). This means that the use of the SQ3R and SQ4R methods, and the SQ4R method is more effective than the use of the SQ3R method and without the use of the SQ3R and SQ4R methods.
