Abstract

This study seeks to assess the effectiveness of Padlet as a tool for teaching writing in classrooms where English is not the primary language. The research adopts a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, samples of student writing, and documentation of Padlet usage during writing activities. The findings indicate that Padlet increases student engagement, encourages collaboration, and supports the development of writing skills. The interactive and collaborative features of the platform help students generate ideas, reflect on their writing, and respond to feedback from peers and instructors. In addition, the variety of feedback options available on Padlet allows students to better understand their mistakes and improve their writing through revision. Padlet also provides opportunities for teachers to adapt instruction according to students’ learning needs. These findings highlight the potential of collaborative digital platforms to create more interactive and supportive writing environments, offering practical insights for integrating technology into writing instruction in non-English language classrooms

Abstract

The shifting educational paradigm demands that teachers possess the competencies to create meaningful learning. Transforming teacher competencies is a key factor in facing the challenges of an adaptive, technology-based, and character-building curriculum. This study aims to map teacher competencies in creating meaningful learning based on four main dimensions: pedagogical, professional, social, and personality, as well as identifying strengths and areas that need improvement. A quantitative approach was used with a survey design. The study population was teachers at SDN 16 Bengkulu Selatan. The sample was taken using total sampling, comprising all teachers at the school. The instrument was a Likert-scale questionnaire with 46 statements. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the average score for each indicator. The results showed that the majority of indicators were in the good to excellent category, with the highest scores for mastery of learning theory, use of technology, and teacher role models. The lowest scores were found for teacher involvement in village activities and acceptance of peer feedback. Teachers at this school already possess sufficient competencies to create meaningful learning, although social engagement and openness to feedback still require strengthening. These findings form the basis for a more holistic professional development program. This research contributes by integrating four dimensions of teacher competency into a single evaluation framework that can be applied in other schools to comprehensively map the quality of meaningful learning

Abstract

This study examines the challenges of media education in addressing the spread of hoaxes among Generation Z, who are digital natives living in the digital era. Although Generation Z has extensive access to technology and social media, their levels of digital literacy vary significantly, particularly in information verification and digital ethics. Their susceptibility to hoaxes is influenced by the intensity of social media use, limited critical thinking skills, and the insufficient integration of media literacy into formal education. Using a literature review method, this study analyzes the characteristics of Generation Z, the factors contributing to their vulnerability to hoaxes, and effective strategies for strengthening media literacy. The findings highlight the need for comprehensive, collaborative, and adaptive media literacy education that aligns with technological developments and the specific characteristics of Generation Z, enabling them to become smart, critical, and responsible digital citizens. This study contributes to the understanding of how media education can be optimized to enhance Generation Z’s resilience against misinformation, offering a conceptual framework for developing more effective and contextually relevant media literacy programs.

Abstract

This study investigates how Islamic boarding schools respond to digital transformation while maintaining religious traditions and core Islamic values. The research focuses on identifying leadership strategies, management practices, and learning innovations implemented to harmonize technological advancement with pesantren traditions. Employing a qualitative intrinsic case study design, the study was conducted in three Islamic boarding schools in Indonesia: Al-Muayyad (Solo), Nurul Jadid (Probolinggo), and IMMIM Putra (Makassar). Data were gathered through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis, and subsequently examined using thematic analysis based on the Braun and Clarke framework. The findings reveal that digital transformation in pesantren extends beyond the adoption of digital tools and involves a fundamental shift in leadership orientation and educational management. Kyai play a central role as value-based transformational leaders who guide digital innovation while safeguarding spiritual principles and ethical learning traditions. The institutions developed hybrid learning models that integrate classical halaqah and tahfidz practices with digital platforms such as e-learning systems and online da’wah media. However, challenges remain, particularly related to uneven technological infrastructure and limited digital literacy among educators. This study proposes a conceptual model of value-based leadership in pesantren digital transformation and offers strategic insights for Islamic education policy development that remains adaptive to technological change while rooted in traditional values.

Abstract

In the context of English language teaching (ELT) in Indonesia, understanding teacher perceptions is crucial for successful implementation. This study aims to explore the positive perceptions of Indonesian elementary and junior high school teachers regarding Platform Digital Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris (PDPBI), Digital Learning Laboratories (DLL), and gamified DLLs, and to synthesize their constructive suggestions for system enhancement. A qualitative need analysis was conducted via a structured questionnaire with five teachers. Data were analyzed thematically to identify key themes related to benefits and proposed modifications. Teachers perceive these platforms as significant tools for enhancing flexibility, student motivation, interactivity, and differentiated learning. Their advocacy is not uncritical; they provide nuanced recommendations for improving features (intuitive UI/UX, better audio-visuals), content (curriculum-aligned, relevant), exercise genres (varied and HOTS-inclusive), and gamification mechanics (educative rewards, healthy ranking systems, contributor recognition for teachers). The findings suggest that Indonesian teachers are proactive advocates for gamified DLLs. Their insights provide a valuable framework for developers and policymakers to create more effective, engaging, and pedagogically sound digital learning environments that are supported by their primary users—the teachers themselves

Abstract

This study addresses the need for innovative learning media to enhance elementary school students’ critical reasoning skills in IPAS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial) learning. The objectives of this research were: (1) to develop a Deep Learning–based educational game media called PETA SITAYA integrated with the Tri-Nga concept; (2) to determine the feasibility of the developed instruments and product; and (3) to examine the effect of the media on improving students’ critical reasoning skills. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The subjects included a limited trial involving 24 students and a wider trial consisting of 29 students in the control class and 29 students in the experimental class. Data were collected through needs analysis questionnaires, expert validation sheets, teacher response questionnaires, and critical reasoning tests in the form of pretest and posttest. The instrument validity test showed 15 valid items (r-count ≥ 0.4044) with a reliability coefficient (Cronbach’s Alpha) of 0.704. Since the data were not normally distributed, nonparametric tests were applied. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank test indicated significant differences between pretest and posttest scores in both classes (Sig. 0.000). The Mann–Whitney U test revealed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes (Sig. 0.000), with the experimental class obtaining a higher mean rank. The findings conclude that the Deep Learning–based PETA SITAYA media integrated with Tri-Nga significantly improves students’ critical reasoning skills in IPAS learning.
