Abstract

Corn (Zea mays L.) is one of the most important food crop commodities in the world after rice and wheat. In some countries, corn is the main source of carbohydrates. However, pests and diseases are the main obstacles to maize production in the tropics and sub-tropics. There are two main diseases that have the potential to reduce maize production, including leaf rust and leaf blight. leaf rust disease can reduce production up to 70% Leaf rust disease is caused by Puccinia Sp. Leaf blight can cause yield losses of up to 50%. Leaf blight is caused by Helminthosporium turcicum. Therefore, combined control is needed to minimize the impact, namely by applying the concept of integrated disease management. This study aims to determine evaluate integrated disease control that has been carried out by several farmers in Suka Menang village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency. The results of field practice show that most of the corn farmers in Suka Menang Village, Glummbang District, Muara Enim Regency have implemented the concept of integrated disease management. In the implementation process, farmers are not aware that what they are doing is included in the control. There are 2 types of diseases that attack corn plants, namely, Puccinia sp. and Helminthosporium turcicum.

Abstract

Soybeans are one of the main food crop commodities, which have high nutritional content, especially the protein content contained in soybean seeds. Population increases and soybean production areas become narrower, so farmers can plant various superior varieties of soybeans. The aim of this final assignment is to determine the yield of soybean production from five varieties. The morphology of these five varieties is different, namely in roots, leaf shape, stems, flower color, pods and seeds. Superior varieties have superior properties compared to local varieties, so superior varieties can increase soybean production. This final assignment will be carried out from February to June 2023 at IP2TP Jambegede under the auspices of the Various Nuts Plant Standard Instrument Testing Center (BPSIT), Malang, East Java. The varieties observed were the Dega-1, Dena-1, Dena-2, Devon-1, and Devon-2 varieties, by observing plant height, number of branches, weight of filled pods, number of filled pods, number of empty pods, weight of 100 seeds, number of fertile nodes, plant growth, seed weight. Based on the weight of the production results observed, the Dega-1 soybean variety had the largest weight and Dena-1 had the smallest weight. Of the number of tiled plants that grow, the Dega-1 variety is the variety that has the most plants and the tiles that grow the least are Dena-2. Keywords: production, soybeans, varieties

Abstract

Rice is the main staple food for most Indonesians. Rice consumption in Indonesia is increasing along with population growth. Efforts to increase rice production continue to be carried out. Increasing production using external inputs in the form of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has resulted in a decrease in food quality and land degradation. Meeting food needs must be harmonized with environmental sustainability. Organic rice cultivation can improve the quality of agricultural products and be friendlier to the environment. This research aims to determine the quality of rice and the nutritional content of three rice genotypes cultivated organically and non-organically. The research was conducted at the Politeknik Negeri Lampung, in August 2022- April 2023. The research results showed that the quality of rice from three rice genotypes (red, white, black) in the organic cultivation system met the Premium Quality requirements, while in the non-organic cultivation system it met the Medium Quality requirements I SNI 6128:2020. The nutritional quality of the three rice genotypes was not significantly different in organic and non-organic cultivation systems Keywords: organic rice, brown rice, black rice, white rice, SNI 6128-2020

Abstract

Flowering cabbage is a type of vegetable with high economic value and has a stable selling price, however, production has decreased by up to 10 quintals/ha. One effort to increase the production of cauliflower can be done by providing various liquid organic fertilizers, because they are easily absorbed by plants and contain complete macro and micro nutrients. Land for flowering cabbage cultivation is also limited, so it is necessary to develop cultivation by paying attention to the type of soil and appropriate and supportive planting media. This research aims to determine the effect of POC type and the interaction between POC type and various planting media. This research was carried out at the STIPER Dharma Wacana Experimental Garden, Margorejo Metro Selatan, Metro City at an altitude of 55 meters above sea level, from October to December 2022. This research used an experimental method, with a split plot treatment design consisting of a main plot and subplots. The main plot is a type of liquid organic fertilizer (P) and the sub plots are various planting media (M). Observational data is tested using analysis of variance, similarity of variance can be tested using the Barlett test and non-addictiveness of the data using the Tuckey test, followed by the least significant difference test (LSD) at the 5% level. The results showed that the type of POC did not have a real influence on all the variables observed, while various planting media had a significant influence on the variable number of leaves.

Abstract

Shallots that are cultivated intensively using inorganic fertilizers cause a decrease in land quality which has an impact on decreasing production, so it is necessary to use organic fertilizers to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers. This research aims to determine the yield of three potential shallot genotypes with different organic fertilizers. This research used a factorial Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. The first factor is three potential shallot genotypes consisting of Bima Brebes, Maja Cipanas, and Bauji. The second factor is the provision of organic fertilizer consisting of no application, manure, compost and bokashi. The results showed that Bima Brebes had the highest average growth and production compared to other genotypes. Organic fertilizer can improve all characters, except for the number of leaves, number of tillers, and fresh weight of bulbs. Bokashi gives the best results in increasing shallot growth and yield but is no different from compost. Keywords: Bima Brebes, Productivity, Genotype Testing.

Abstract

National food needs to focus on the agricultural sector. Tomato production in Indonesia is still low compared to other countries. This research aims to determine the impact of using husk ash and various types of compound fertilizers on the growth and yield of tomato plants. This study was conducted at KP2 INSTIPER Maguwoharjo, Special Region of Yogyakarta, in April-July 2023. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) composed of 2 factors. The first factor is the dose of husk ash, which consists of 3 levels, namely: 50g/polybag (control), 60g/polybag, and 70g/polybag; the second factor is the type of compound fertilizer, which consists of 3 types, namely; NPK 15:15:15, NPK 16:16:16, and NPK 9:25:25 at a dose of 10g/plant. Based on these two factors, 9 treatment combinations were obtained, each repeated 3 times, so there were 27 experimental plants. The research data was analyzed using variance with an actual level of 5%. The analysis results show an interaction between abusekam and compound fertilizer on the parameters of fruit diameter, average fruit weight, fresh shoot weight, and root fresh weight. Application of husk ash at a dose of 60g and NPK 15:15:15 gave a fruit diameter of 46.33 mm. Giving 70g of husk ash affects plant growth, fruit number, and fruit/plant weight. Providing NPK16:16:16 compound fertilizer has a good effect on plant growth, fruit number, and fruit/plant weight.
