Abstract

Abstrak: Artikel ini mengkaji dedikasi dan karya-karya Yusuf Ahmad Lubis. Tokoh ini layak diungkap mengingat kiprah dan posisinya dalam organisasi Al Washliyah yang kemudian menjadi Ketua Majelis Ulama Sumatera Utara, tetapi masih terabaikan secara akademis. Artikel ini merupakan hasil studi kepustakaan dengan pendekatan historis. Temuan yang diusung artikel ini adalah bahwa Yusuf Ahmad Lubis, meskipun tidak pernah belajar agama di Haramain, tetapi memiliki jaringan intelektual dengan ulama-ulama Makkah melalui dua gurunya yang paling masyhur: Syekh Hasan Maksum dan Syekh Muhammad Yunus. Kompetensinya dalam bidang ilmu-ilmu keislaman didedikasikannya bagi umat dan bangsa melalui Al Jam’iyatul Washliyah. Ia juga mewariskan puluhan karya dalam ragam bidang keislaman. Menarik bahwa ia memiliki kemampuan dalam bidang perbandingan agama, dan kemampuan inilah yang membuatnya sukses dalam melaksanakan misi islamisasi pada basis-basis Kristen di Sumatera Utara. Sikap penentangannya terhadap tarekat Jalaluddin dan aliran Ahmadiyah menunjukkan bahwa ia ingin melindungi akidah umat Islam. Studi ini berhasil mengungkapkan profil seorang ulama universalis dan kritis terhadap perbedaan ideologi. Kata Kunci: Mandailing, Al Washliyah, Yusuf Ahmad Lubis Abstract: The 20th Century Mandailing Ulama Tradition: Dedication and Works of Yusuf Ahmad Lubis (1912-1980). This article examines the dedication and works of Yusuf Ahmad Lubis. This figure is worth studying given his significant contribution and position in the Al Washliyah organization and who later become the Acting Chair of the North Sumatra Ulema Council, but it is still academically neglected. This article is the result of a literature study with a historical approach. The findings of this article are that Yusuf Ahmad Lubis, although he had never studied religion in Haramain, but had an intellectual network with Makkah scholars through his two most famous teachers: Sheikh Hasan Maksum and Sheikh Muhammad Yunus. His mastery in the Islamic religious sciences is dedicated to the people and nation through Al Jam’iyatulWashliyah. He also left dozens of works behind him in various fields of Islam. It is interesting that he has the ability in the field of comparative religion, and this ability has made him successful in carrying out the mission of Islamization on Christian bases in North Sumatra. His opposition to the Jalaluddin order and the Ahmadiyya sect increasingly shows that he wants to protect the faith of Muslims. This study successfully revealed the profile of a universalist ulama in terms of science and also still critical of ideological differences. Keywords: Mandailing, Al Washliyah, Yusuf Ahmad Lubis

Abstract

Abstrak: Studi ini mengkaji pemikiran Nukman Sulaiman tentang hukum meminjamkan rahim untuk kandungan bayi. Nukman Sulaiman merupakan salah satu figur penting dalam organisasi Al Washliyah, sebuah organisasi Islam terbesar di Indonesia. Tidak banyak penelitian mengenai ulama ini, padahal ia merupakan salah satu ulama berpengaruh dan menghasilkan banyak karya. Studi ini merupakan studi kepustakaan dimana karya-karya Nukman Sulaiman menjadi data primer. Data dianalisis dengan metode analisis isi. Studi ini mengajukan temuan bahwa Nukman Sulaiman menyatakan bahwa haram meminjamkan rahim untuk kandungan bayi jika sperma dan ovumnya bukan berasal dari suami isteri yang sah. Hadis secara tegas melarang untuk meletakkan sperma seorang laki-laki ke rahim perempuan yang tidak halal baginya. Pandangan ini memperkuat pandangan para ulama seperti Yûsuf al-Qardhawi, Mahmûd Syaltût dan Wahbah al-Zuhaily. Akan tetapi, keharaman ini tidak berlaku pada pasangan suami isteri yang sah dengan ketentuan bahwa sperma dan ovum (setelah dilakukan pembuahan secara medis atau inseminasi buatan) tetap dikembalikan kepada rahim isterinya sendiri. Hal ini merupakan solusi bagi pasangan suami isteri yang tidak bisa memperoleh keturunan secara normal. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa Nukman Sulaiman turut memberikan sumbangsih bagi kajian hukum Islam di Indonesia. Kata Kunci: Nukman Sulaiman, Al Washliyah, Syâfi‘iyah, inseminasiAbstract: Islamic Law in Deli Land: Nukman Sulaiman’s Thought on the Ruling of Insemination. Islamic Law in Deli Land: Nukman Sulaiman’s Thought on the Ruling of Insemination. This study examines Nukman Sulaiman’s thoughts on the law of lending the uterus for the womb of a child. Nukman Sulaiman is an important figure in the Al Washliyah organization, the largest Islamic organization in Indonesia. There is not much research on this scholar, even though he is one of the influential scholars and has produced many works. This study is a literature study where Nukman Sulaiman’s works are the primary data. The data were analyzed using the content analysis method. This study suggests that Nukman Sulaiman stated that it is haram to lend the uterus for a baby’s womb if the sperm and ovum are not from a legal husband and wife. The hadith strictly forbids putting a man’s sperm into a woman’s womb which is not lawful for him. This view strengthens the views of scholars such as Yûsuf al-Qardhawi, Mahmûd Syaltût and Wahbah al-Zuhaily. However, this prohibition does not apply to legally married couples provided that the sperm and ovum (after medical fertilization or artificial insemination) are still returned to the wife’s own womb. This is a solution for married couples who cannot get offspring normally. Abstract

Abstrak: Artikel ini mengkaji pemikiran H. Yusuf Ahmad Lubis tentang buruh. Studi ini menarik dilakukan mengingat kajian tentang buruh dalam perspektif Islam masih relatif jarang dilakukan. Studi ini merupakan studi kepustakaan. Data dianalisis dengan metode analisis isi. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa H. Yusuf Ahmad Lubis sebagai seorang ulama menulis sebuah karya mengenai kedudukan buruh dalam Islam. Konsep Islam mengenai buruh memiliki perbedaan dengan konsep komunisme dan kapitalisme. Pemikiran H. Yusuf Ahmad Lubis tentang buruh terdiri atas tiga aspek. Pertama, anjuran bekerja dalam Islam. Kedua, prinsip Islam tentang hubungan buruh (karyawan) dan majikan. Ketiga, tanggung jawab negara terhadap buruh. Setidaknya ketiga aspek tersebut menjadi indikasi pembeda antara konsep Islam dengan konsep ideologi tentang buruh. Inti dari pemikirannya adalah bahwa pekerja/buruh itu adalah teman dan mitra sejajar yang tidak boleh dieksploitasi. Eksploitasi terhadap buruh merupakan bentuk dari perbudakan modern. Studi ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi kajian buruh di Indonesia. Kata Kunci: Yusuf Ahmad Lubis, hukum Islam, buruhAbstract: The Concept of Labor in Islam: H. Yusuf Ahmad Lubis' thoughts on Labor. This article examines H. Yusuf Ahmad Lubis' thought on labor. This study is interesting to do considering that studies on labor in Islamic perspective are still relatively rare. This study is a literature study. The data were analyzed using the content analysis method. This study shows that H. Yusuf Ahmad Lubis as a scholar wrote a work on the position of labor in Islam. The Islamic concept of labor is different from the concepts of communism and capitalism. H. Yusuf Ahmad Lubis' thought about labor consists of three aspects. First, the recommendation to work in Islam. Second, Islamic principles regarding the relationship between labors (employees) and employers. Third, the responsibility of the state towards labors. At least these three aspects indicate the difference between the Islamic concept and the ideological concept of labor. The essence of the idea is that the labor is a friend and equal partner who should not be exploited. The exploitation of labor is a form of modern slavery. Of course, this study will contribute to the study of labor in Indonesia.Keywords: Yusuf Ahmad Lubis, Islamic law, labor

Abstract

Abstrak: Misi kolonial Belanda untuk memperkokoh kekuasaan dan ekspansi ajaran Kristen di wilayah Nusantara berlangsung dengan didirikannya lembaga-lembaga pendidikan untuk menyiapkan pegawai di birokrasi pemerintahan dan tidak membenarkan masuknya materi pendidikan agama Islam di Sekolah-sekolah Gubernemen. Kondisi demikian mendorong reaksi kaum Modernis Muslim untuk bergegas mendirikan lembaga pendidikan tersendiri yang dianggap mampu beradaptasi sekaligus mengantisipasi berkembangnya misi kolonial tersebut. Reaksi ini buat pertama kali ditandai dengan berdirinya Adabiyah School melalui usaha dan kerja keras Abdullah Ahmad yang didukung oleh teman-teman seperjuangannya. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji perihal terkait dengan latar belakang  modernisasi di institusi Adabiyah dan upaya-upaya modernisasi yang telah dilakukan.  Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah, artikel ini mengungkap fakta historis bahwa Adabiyah School merupakan Sekolah Islam Modern pertama di Indonesia yang menganut sistem klasikal dan berkompetisi terhadap sistem pendidikan kolonial Belanda dengan mengembangkan sekolah modern guna mengurangi jumlah generasi muda muslim mengikuti pendidikan di Sekolah Gubernemen, sehingga terbina kepribadian warga masyarakat untuk mengamalkan Islam dan tidak terpengaruh dengan misi Kristenisasi yang dibawa penjajah Belanda. Meskipun Adabiyah School tidak bertahan begitu lama dalam perkembangan sejarah, namun penularan modernisasi pendidikan yang diawalinya memberikan pengaruh kuat terhadap bangkitnya sekolah-sekolah Islam modern hingga saat ini. Kata Kunci: Adabiyah School, modernisasi, sekolah Islam Abstract: Modernization of Islamic Education in Indonesia: The Case of the Adabiyah School. The Dutch colonial mission to strengthen the power and expansion of Christian teachings in the archipelago took place with the establishment of educational institutions to prepare workers in the world of government bureaucracy and do not justify the inclusion of Islamic religious education materials in the Governorate Schools. Such conditions encourage the reaction of Muslim Modernists to rush to establish an independent educational institution that is considered capable of adapting as well as anticipating the development of the colonial mission. This reaction was marked for the first time by the establishment of Adabiyah School through the efforts and hard work of Abdullah Ahmad and supported by his comrades. This article aims to examine matters relating to the background of modernization in the Adabiyah institution and the efforts of modernization that have been made. Using historical research methods, this article reveals the historical fact that the Adabiyah School is the first Modern Islamic School in Indonesia that adheres to the classical system and competes with the Dutch colonial education system by developing a modern school to reduce the number of young Muslims attending education in the Gubernemen's School so that it is fostered personalities of citizens to practice Islam and not be influenced by the mission of Christianization brought by the Dutch invaders. Although the Adabiyah School did not last so long in historical development, the transmission of the modernization of education that it started had a strong influence on the rise of modern Islamic schools to this day. Keywords: Adabiyah School, modernization, Islamic school

Abstract

Abstrak: Artikel ini menelaah latar belakang dan perkembangan Sekolah Tinggi Islam, disingkat STI. Studi ini penting dan menarik dilakukan mengingat STI merupakan lembaga pendidikan tinggi Islam pertama yang didirikan oleh para pemuka Muslim di Indonesia. Tidak banyak studi yang dilakukan mengenai lembaga ini. Studi ini merupakan studi kepustakaan dan menggunakan pendekatan historis. Data dianalisis dengan metode analisis isi. Studi ini mengajukan temuan bahwa STI merupakan perguruan tinggi Islam pertama di Indonesia. STI pertama sekali dipimpin oleh Abdul Kahar Muzakkir. Beberapa pemuka Muslim memberikan kontribusi saat kampus Islam ini mulai didirikan di antaranya Mohammad Hatta, A. Wahid Hasyim dan Mas Mansur. Kurikulum kampus ini mengikuti kurikulum Universitas al-Azhar. STI membuka dua jurusan: ilmu agama dan ilmu masyarakat. STI kemudian dikonversi menjadi Universitas Islam Indonesia, disingkat UII. Konversi STI menjadi UII didasari oleh upaya untuk memenuhi permintaan umat terhadap sebuah lembaga pendidikan tinggi yang mampu mengintegrasikan pengetahuan umum dengan ajaran Islam. Studi ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi kajian sejarah pendidikan Islam di Indonesia. Kata Kunci: sejarah, pendidikan tinggi, Sekolah Tinggi Islam Abstract: This article examines the background and development of Sekolah Tinggi Islam, abbreviated as STI. This study is important and interesting considering that STI is the first Islamic higher education institution established by Muslim leaders in Indonesia. Not many studies have been conducted in this institution. This study followed a literature study and used a historical approach in collecting the data. The data were then analyzed using the content analysis method. The findings of this study indicate that STI is the first Islamic university in Indonesia which was first led by Abdul Kahar Muzakkir. Several Muslim leaders also contributed  in the establishment of this Islamic campus, namely; Mohammad HattaA. Wahid Hasyim and Mas Mansur. The campus curriculum follows the Al-Azhar University curriculum. STI has two departments, namely: Religious Science and Public Science. STI was later converted into the Islamic University of Indonesia, abbreviated as UII. The conversion of STI to UII is based on efforts to fulfill the demand of the ummah for a higher education institution that is able to integrate general knowledge and  Islamic teachings. Abstract

Abstrak: Artikel ini membahas tentang pengenalan terhadap sosok insan kamil dalam bingkai filsafat pendidikan Islam. Dengan menggunakan metode library research, penelitian ini memberikan analisis tentang peran pendidikan Islam dalam pembentukan insan kamil. Dalam operasionalisasinya, pendidikan Islam merupakan proses transformasi dan internalisasi ilmu pengetahuan serta nilai-nilai pada diri anak melalui penumbuhan dan pengembangan potensi fitrahnya guna mencapai keselarasan dan kesempurnaan hidup dalam segala aspeknya. Upaya untuk mewujudkan insân kâmil  sejalan dengan pembinaan manusia seutuhnya dalam kualitas pribadi Muslim sejati sebagaimana yang diinginkan dalam tujuan pendidikan Islam. Dengan demikian, konsepsi tentang insân kâmil merupakan produk intelektualisme yang berharga dan bernilai tinggi bagi pengembangan pemikiran kefilsafatan pendidikan Islam, terutama guna melakukan reorientasi tujuan pendidikan Islam.Kata Kunci: pendidikan Islam, manusia sempurna, tasawuf, filsafat, al-Qur’anAbstract: This article discusses the perfect man (insân kâmil) in the context of Islamic education philosophy. This study examines the function of Islamic education in the formation of insân kâmil utilizing the library research method. Islamic education, in its most basic form, is a process of transforming and internalizing information and values in children via the growth and development of their natural potential, with the goal of achieving harmony and perfection in all aspects of life. The attempt to attain insân kâmil is in keeping with the goals of Islamic education, which include the development of a whole human being with the personal attributes of a sincere Muslim. As a result, the notion of insân kâmil is a significant and high-value intellectual output for the growth of philosophical thought in Islamic education, particularly in order to refocus Islamic education’s goals.Keywords: Islamic Education, perfect man, sufism, philosophy, Qur’an

Abstract

Abstrak: Artikel ini membahas relasi Al Washliyah dengan politik di Indonesia kontemporer. Secara khusus, artikel ini mengkaji sejarah dan ideologi Al Washliyah, sikap Al Washliyah terhadap negara Indonesia, dan hubungan Al Washliyah dan politik, khususnya politisasi agama. Studi ini merupakan studi kepustakaan. Data diperoleh dari dokumen organisasi yang kemudian dianalisis dengan metode analisis isi. Studi ini mengajukan temuan bahwa Al Washliyah adalah salah satu organisasi Islam terbesar di Indonesia yang berdedikasi bagi umat, bangsa dan negara dalam bidang pendidikan, dakwah dan amal sosial. Al Washliyah merupakan organisasi Islam yang turut merebut, memperjuangkan dan mengisi kemerdekaan Indonesia. Al Washliyah sama sekali tidak abai dalam bidang politik, meskipun tidak pernah menjadi partai politik. Meskipun bukan suatu partai politik, Al Washliyah memiliki ideologi politik tertentu yang menjadi arah perjuangan organisasi. Studi ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi kajian gerakan Islam di Indonesia kontemporer. Kata Kunci: Al Washliyah, agama, politik, Indonesia Abstract: This article discusses Al Washliyah's relationship with politics in contemporary Indonesia. In particular, this article examines the history and ideology of Al Washliyah, the attitude of Al Washliyah towards the Indonesian state, and the relationship between Al Washliyah and politics, particularly the politicization of religion. This study is a literature study. The data was obtained from organizational documents which were then analyzed using content analysis method. This study proposes the finding that Al Washliyah is one of the largest Islamic organizations in Indonesia which is dedicated to the people, nation and state in the fields of education, da'wah and social charity. Al Washliyah is an Islamic organization that took part in seizing, fighting for and filling Indonesia's independence. Al Washliyah was not at all ignorant in the political field, even though it was never a political party. Although not a political party, Al Washliyah has a certain political ideology that is the direction of the organization's struggle. Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the development of the Dayah Cot Kala curriculum during the Perlak Kingdom. The curriculum of Islamic educational institutions has changed from time to time. This is influenced by various factors, ranging from the demands of the times, state policies, and the socio-culture of the surrounding community. Using a historical approach, this literature study proposes the findings that Dayah Cot Kala in the era of the Perlak Kingdom was the first Islamic educational institution in Indonesia and even in Southeast Asia. This dayah already has an ideal curriculum that is ahead of its time, and does not recognize the dichotomy between religious education and general education as happened to the dayah institution during its decline, both during the colonial period and the post-colonial period. This study aims to determine the factors that influence curriculum development at that time.Keywords: curriculum, Islamic education, dayah, Aceh, the Kingdom of PerlakAbstrak: Studi ini mengkaji pengembangan kurikulum Dayah Cot Kala pada masa Kerajaan Perlak. Kurikulum lembaga pendidikan Islam mengalami perubahan dari masa ke masa. Hal ini dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor, mulai dari tuntutan zaman, kebijakan negara, dan sosial budaya masyarakat di sekitarnya. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan historis, studi kepustakaan ini mengajukan temuan bahwa Dayah Cot Kala di era Kerajaan Perlak merupakan lembaga pendidikan Islam pertama kali di Indonesia bahkan di Asia Tenggara. Dayah ini telah mempunyai kurikulum yang ideal dan mendahului masanya, juga tidak mengenal dikotomi antara pendidikan agama dengan pendidikan umum sebagaimana yang terjadi pada lembaga dayah di masa kemundurannya, baik pada masa penjajahan dan masa pasca penjajahan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pengembangan kurikulum pada masa itu.Kata Kunci: kurikulum, pendidikan Islam, dayah, Aceh, Kerajaan Perlak

Abstract

Abstract: This article examines the implications of globalization on contemporary Islamic education, using a literature study. The data was obtained through literature in the form of reading books and online sources. The method used is descriptive analysis, where the method is considered appropriate to determine the ongoing phenomenon. The results of the study show that education cannot be separated from the social, economic and cultural aspects. Thinking education as something that stands alone without anything to do with the social aspects that surround it will result in real alienation. The existence of globalization has an impact on the education system and function in the form of challenges and opportunities. The challenge is how existing education can be influenced from various sectors, like the economic, social and cultural sectors. Meanwhile, opportunities can be seen how current education can create a more comprehensive and flexible education system. The world of education must organize itself to be accepted by the demands of the times, but in structuring the education system it must pay attention to the Qur'an and Sunnah as the basis for the legacy of Islamic education thought.Keywords: globalization, Islamic education, opportunities, challenges
