Abstract

This study examines the association between field of study linearity and the academic success of LPDP scholarship recipients, using a dataset of 17,810 alumni. The independent variables include the linearity of the study field at both cluster and sub-cluster levels. Control variables include initial GPA, marital status, age at the start of study, ranking of both the origin and destination universities, level of study, and study cluster. Academic success is measured through graduation timeliness, final GPA, and total study duration. Using binary logistic regression and linear regression analysis, the results show that linearity is significantly associated with certain aspects of academic success, particularly study duration and final GPA. For study duration, the positive regression coefficient indicates that linearity is associated with a longer study duration rather than greater efficiency. For graduation status, the estimated odds ratio and marginal effect indicate a negative association with linearity. The association at the sub-cluster level is more prominent than at the cluster level, although its direction and magnitude vary across academic outcomes. Moreover, the relationship between linearity and academic success varies by education level, scholarship type, gender, and study destination country. These findings provide empirical evidence for scholarship selection policies by indicating that the relationship between academic background alignment and subsequent academic outcomes is not uniformly positive and should therefore be considered alongside other factors in supporting Indonesia’s development priorities.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the importance of improving the performance of madrasah teachers in the face of demands for educational change, technological developments, and increasingly complex learning needs. Education and training are efforts undertaken to enhance teachers’ knowledge, skills, and professionalism. However, improvements in education and training do not necessarily result directly in optimal teacher performance. This situation highlights the importance of “Capability”—defined as a teacher’s ability to apply acquired knowledge, skills, experience, and resources in the performance of professional duties. This study aims to analyze the influence of Education (X1) and Training (X2) on Teacher Performance (Y), as well as to examine the role of Capability (Z) as a mediating variable in this relationship. This study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The study population consists of madrasah teachers in Kendal Regency, with the sample determined using a sampling technique appropriate to the characteristics of the study population. Data collection was conducted through a questionnaire designed based on the indicators of each variable. Data analysis was used to test the influence of Education and Training on Teacher Performance, both directly and indirectly through Capability as a mediating variable. The relationships among the variables were tested using analyses appropriate to the research model. This study is expected to provide an empirical understanding of the relationship between Education, Training, Capability, and Teacher Performance. Theoretically, this study is expected to enrich research on educational management and human resource development through the perspectives of Human Capital Theory, the Capability Approach, and the Resource-Based View. Practically, the research findings are expected to serve as a basis for consideration by madrasahs and policymakers in designing education and training programs that not only enhance teachers’ competencies but also strengthen their Capability, thereby supporting sustainable improvements in Teacher Performance.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of dance and music extracurricular activities, analyze their contribution to student character development, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors at SMP 50 Satap OKU. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. Data are collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving the principal, arts teachers/supervisors, and students participating in extracurricular activities. Data are analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The example findings indicate that dance and music activities are implemented through regular rehearsals, material instruction, repetition, role distribution, and performance preparation. These processes contribute to the development of discipline, responsibility, cooperation, confidence, creativity, and perseverance. In dance activities, character is reflected in punctuality, ability to follow movements, group cohesion, and confidence in performing. In music activities, character appears through instrument preparation, consistent practice, responsibility for musical parts, listening to other members, and confidence in performing. Supporting factors include school support, supervisors, student interest, facilities, and performance opportunities, while obstacles include limited facilities, differences in student ability, inconsistent attendance, and limited practice time. These findings indicate that arts extracurricular activities can function as an experiential space for character development because character values are directly practiced during rehearsals and performances

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the readiness of vocational education institutions in adopting green competencies, develop a Project-Based Circular Learning (PBCL) model, and formulate a transformation management strategy to integrate PBCL into the curriculum and culture of the institution. The research uses  a Research and Development (R&D) approach with a qualitative multiple case study design at vocational education institutions in Medan City. The research is carried out through five stages, namely needs analysis, model design, development and validation, limited implementation, and evaluation. Data is collected through interviews, observations, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), and document studies, then analyzed thematically by triangulating sources. The results of the study show that the readiness of institutions in developing green competencies still faces obstacles in terms of leadership, curriculum, lecturer competencies, industrial partnerships, infrastructure, and sustainability culture. The PBCL model developed integrates project-based learning with circular economy principles through multidisciplinary projects that are oriented to real problems. Limited implementation shows that PBCL increases student involvement and develops technical and non-technical competencies related to sustainability. The research also produces a gradual transformation strategy through continuous planning, implementation, and evaluation to support the development of green competency-oriented vocational education.
