Abstract

This paper presents the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) technique of decision making and elimination. Acoustics affect concentration, memory, and the comfort of learning and teaching. Research shows that the effectiveness of classroom acoustics can directly affect students' ability to concentrate. Students with low grades cannot focus when distracted, and students must catch 90% of the teacher's explanations in class. When teachers amplify their voices, it causes health problems. Acoustics in the classroom can improve concentration and comfort for both students and teachers. According to acoustic engineers, sound insulation and reverberation time are the most important factors in designing classroom acoustics. Reverberation time is the time it takes for the sound in a room to decay over a certain dynamic range. The sound insulation can help soundproof the insulating characteristics of the material increase with more mass. The lack of structural connections makes it soundproof. From an architect's point of view, reverberation time is slightly important. It is because many architecture students in Indonesia do not get much acoustic material in school. Their understanding of building acoustics is still lacking. Architecture students in Indonesia need more in-depth acoustic materials to be able to use their acoustic abilities professionally. According to architects and educators, speech intenbillity is the most important factor. From the three experts' points of view, the most important things when designing classroom acoustics are reverberation time, sound insulation, and speech intenbillity. Keywords: Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Acoustic Classroom, Indonesia, Reverberation Time, Sound Insulation, and Speech intenbillity.

Abstract

The increasing population urges the need for space as a place to live in urban areas with limited land. In addition, the population of Batam City are dominated by millennials with low financial ability but high social capital. That can trigger the construction of illegal houses, which sometimes do not meet the criteria for settlements that are slums, reaching fifteen hectares in the Belian Village of Batam City Sub-District. It is necessary to adapt collaborative housing (co-housing) with minimal land use. However, it can provide space as a place to live and socialize as much as possible, including residents in building management. The methodology of this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach to the condition of the city of Batam, which is observed directly by paying attention to the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, as well as co-housing design considerations. Thus, this study resulted in recommendations for the design of co-housing buildings with facilities and features close to the site, spatial layout and planning that are to the needs of the target user, a property model that is by the user's abilities, and screening and curation process that the user can accept. The sustainability of settlements can also be the result of adapting the co-housing concept in Batam.

Abstract

Abstract - Problems that are often seen in bus terminals are identical to air pollution, noise pollution and excessive use of energy in their operations, so that the bus terminal has a negative impact on the surrounding environment. Solving these problems can be done by site processing that applies Eco-Tech architectural theory. Eco-Tech architecture encourages environmentally-based designs combined with smart building design technology, is energy efficient, environmentally friendly and provides a sense of comfort for users. The theory is closely related to the principle of Green Building, where building design now must refer to the concept of green buildings. Assessment can be through the Greenship reference standard set by the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI). One of the principles used in this assessment is appropriate land use management at the type A bus terminal site in Surakarta. This principle aims to assess and determine the condition of the site and its surroundings, the efficiency of land management, and rainwater treatment in the site in the future. This research method uses a qualitative method and provides an index value based on secondary data through the problem identification stage, inputting theory and literacy which is then followed by data analysis, and produces a conclusion, namely the application of this principle has not been fully applied to the design of the bus terminal in Surakarta. Keywords – Bus station, Surakarta City, Appropriate site, Eco-Tech

Abstract

At the beginning of 2020, COVID-19 was a virus that spread and occurred simultaneously in various countries around the world, including Indonesia. This pandemic has an impact on sectors in Indonesia, one of which is the impact on education. With this pandemic, the government has implemented online learning until finally the government has implemented hybrid learning. This study's purpose is to determine whether this hybrid learning is effective in grade 12 students. Data collection was carried out in distributing questionnaires, interviewing grade 12 students and making direct observations to several schools. The results of our analysis show that hybrid learning for grade 12 students is considered less effective because students experience several changes in learning outcomes, understanding of the material and lack of communication between teachers and friends. However, because this research is still early, we will use the results of this study as the basis for further research where we will discuss the tools or products that are assembled regarding user needs in solving problems that occur in hybrid learning. Keywords -  Education, Hybrid, Pandemic, Student.

Abstract

People with disabilities tend to suffer from mental discomfort. They can lack self-confidence because they have physical limitations. Therapy is needed so that people with disabilities can be more confident in society and social life. Nowadays there are many conventional mental therapies, but they are still not optimal in providing healing, it is necessary to create a new idea or breakthrough that can make therapeutic solutions more effective and enjoyable. The presence of current IT technology can be used as a medicinal solution, one of which is by utilizing virtual reality or VR. VR is a natural reality or an artificial environment that can be designed in such a way that it becomes an environment that is needed according to the target. In VR, it is necessary to design an artificial environment or terrain to be able to provide therapeutic effects based on a calming and comfortable natural environment. Architecture can enter here in the realm of digital architecture, architects can be involved in designing the terrain so that the terrain space can become a room that is optimal for mental therapy. Several studies have shown that using VR technology and architecture (space design) for mental therapy purposes is proven to be effective and, when combined, have a better healing effect than conventional therapy. Based on this understanding, the future must consider VR and Architectural Design as a science in forming effective and efficient mental therapy.

Abstract

Wood, which is a sustainable material, is widely used for various purposes, including for buildings. The main part of the wooden building lies in the main frame. Wood frame technology is developing quite rapidly, which is generally centered on technology from the Western world. The wood frame technology for traditional houses in Indonesia is unique, which is generally adapted to local conditions, including traditional Banjar houses. Research on traditional Banjar houses has not yet reached an adequate in-depth study of the wooden frame, even though it is unique and responsive to swampland conditions and the local environment. The wooden frame structure and construction system of traditional Banjar houses, apart from adding to the global vocabulary of wooden frames, can also be used as an alternative to wooden frames for conventional buildings. Therefore, this research is important to be carried out. This research was conducted by first taking an inventory of the structural and construction systems of several samples of traditional Banjarese houses, to be analyzed in order to obtain the formulation of the structural and construction system. The existing data and formulations will be combined with the structure and foundation construction that has been obtained in previous studies. A qualitative analysis was also carried out on the obtained formulas to provide an understanding of the forces acting on them and the reactions of the elements and their connections. The method is carried out through secondary data and direct data collection in the field, where the data obtained are compiled and analyzed with a matrix to get the level of regularity of the structure and construction system. The structural and construction systems that have been formulated will be analyzed qualitatively by their actions and reactions in the context of the forces acting on them. It was found that the wooden structure system in a traditional Banjar house consists of 17 structural elements, of which 5 have a major role in the structural system and have unique characteristics compared to other conventional and traditional systems. These structural elements form a solid wooden structural system which is proven by the survival of traditional Banjar houses to this day.
