Abstract

Jukung fishing boats, prevalent in Prigi, face challenges due to their wide design (approximately 5 meters on both sides). This excessive width often necessitates berthing further from the coast. To address this issue, this study investigates the feasibility of reducing outrigger width to increase berthing capacity at PPN Prigi while ensuring vessel stability. Through a systematic analysis of various outrigger widths (1.5, 1.25, 1, and 0.75 meters), the study determined that a reduction to 1 meter maintains vessel stability as per HSC 2000 Annex 7 and Annex 749 (18) Ch3 design criteria. A 1-meter reduction in outrigger length can increase berthing efficiency by 66% for a standard 15-meter berth with 30-40 cm ship spacing. Consequently, the east dock of PPN Prigi can accommodate an additional 94 jukung vessels, raising the total capacity from 142 to 236. This research provides valuable insights for optimizing port infrastructure and enhancing the operational efficiency of the fishing community in Prigi.

Abstract

The wind energy is the one of the renewable energy to produce the power using turbine. The Savonius turbine have lower performance compared to the other. In this work, the method used is the experimental stu using the wind tunnel to flow air go to the Savonius turbine. The model used is a conventional Savonius wind turbine by adding cylinder installed in front of advancing area with a diameter of 0.4 m and a height of 0.4 m and ds/d of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and 0.4 with the rotation of 20 rpm at a stagger angle of 0°, 30°, 60°, and 90°. The experiment is kept constant at the velocity of 7 m/s. This work objective will determine the torque and power coefficient by varying the diameter and stagger angle. The results show that the biggest performance decreased was about 40% in the variation of ds/d of 0.3 with a stagger angle of 0°. The best results show that the wind turbine performance occurred the highest improvement in about 12% at the variation of ds/d = 0.4 with a stagger angle of 60°.

Abstract

The depletion of fossil fuel reserves has led to a global energy crisis, with increasing demand for alternative energy sources. Diesel fuel shortages, especially in countries like Indonesia, have driven the exploration of biodiesel as a sustainable alternative. This study aims to convert waste cooking oil (WCO) into biodiesel, with the addition of a cetane number improver (CNI) to enhance its performance in diesel engines. The biodiesel was produced through methanolysis, and 2-Ethylhexyl Nitrate (EHN) was added to improve combustion and reduce engine knocking. The results show that the produced biodiesel had a density of 856 Kg/m³ for B0, 872.7 Kg/m³ for B0 with CNI, and 872.1 Kg/m³ for B50CN. Viscosity values were 2.32 cSt for B0, 5.645 cSt for B50, and 4.722 cSt for B50CN. The cetane index was 49.2 for B50 and B50CN, while B0 had a value of 48. The emissions measured included CO levels of 194 mg/Nm³ for B0, 254 mg/Nm³ for B50, and 280 mg/Nm³ for B50CN. NOx emissions were 852 mg/Nm³ for B0, 755 mg/Nm³ for B50, and 825 mg/Nm³ for B50CN. Oxygen content was 15.9% for B0, 14.9% for B50, and 16.2% for B50CN. The findings indicate that adding EHN to WCO biodiesel improves fuel properties but increases emissions of CO and NOx. Overall, WCO-based biodiesel with EHN is a viable alternative fuel that balances performance improvements with environmental considerations.

Abstract

Ports are basic center points in worldwide transportation, affecting supply chains and national economies. With the rise of Industry 4.0, joining computerised change such as IoT, huge information, cloud computing, and AI into harbour operations has ended up progressively vital. This study provides a systematic evaluation of 41 selected articles focusing on three critical aspects of smart port development: developments in digital transformation, assessment of smart port implementation, and related challenges and limitations. Utilizing indicators such as technology relevance, operational efficiency, user experience, regulatory barriers, and infrastructure readiness, the analysis reveals that a significant number of articles contributed to digital transformation technologies (average score: 7.61), performance evaluation (average score: 6.63), and challenges and barriers (average score: 6.15). Trend graphs and Pareto diagrams highlight fluctuations in contributions and emphasize that a small number of high-scoring articles have a considerable impact. This research underscores the importance of a thorough and systematic approach in assessing digital transformation technologies and offers valuable insights into the current landscape, opportunities, and challenges. The findings are intended to guide stakeholders in developing effective strategies for achieving sustainable digital transformation in smart ports.

Abstract

Risk management is an important thing to do in every business activity and by business operator to ensure business continuity. The trend of increasing container shipping volumes in Indonesia shows the increasing need for a low-cost logistics distribution with large volumes. This condition will also be balanced by an increase in potential risks in container shipping operations. Previous research generally focuses on certain activities or locations, and there has not been much research on risk management in container shipping operations in a sequence activities of supply chain. The various risk management methods that exist today provide many options for implementation. This condition also provides an opportunity and is important to do further research in this area. This research is devoted to risk management of container shipping operations activities, and is intended to determine risk management research trends, existing risk management methods, potential or research gaps for further research as well as risk management framework concepts that can be proposed. The research was carried out using bibliometric analysis and systematic literature review of previous research, interpreting the results in the form of qualitative descriptions to answer existing problems. Research results show an increasing research trend for the last 5 years, with 18 method of risk management applied. This research provides a concept of how to assess container shipping operation risk management related to logistic supply chain.   The option of integrating 3 risk management approach methods, namely SCOR, CSORA and HOR, is proposed in this research, as a conceptual framework for risk management in container shipping operations to support maritime logistics in Indonesia, including propose location or object and aspects for further research, and 3 key success factors to implement the conceptual framework as a reference.

Abstract

The rocker arm functioned as a link between the camshaft and the valve which was responsible for regulating the rise and fall of the valve. Based on how it worked, the roller rocker arm with a conventional rocker arm were the same. However, a significant difference was seen in the roller placed at one end that made direct contact with the camshaft. The use of a conventional rocker arm produced considerable friction, so researchers replaced it with a roller rocker arm. The purpose of this study was to improve the performance of a single cylinder petrol engine using a roller rocker arm that had diameter sizes of 15 mm and 17 mm against the standard. The performance testing method used the variable open throttle to obtain data. Furthermore, the data was presented in graphical form and analyzed using anova. The independent variables were roller rocker arm whose diameter were 15 mm and 17 mm, conventional rocker arm and round 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500, 6000, 6500, 7000 rpm. The dependent variables were power, torque and specific fuel consumption. The control variables were engine 100 cc and 92 octane fuel. The largest power result at 6500 rpm was 6.25 Hp using a conventional rocker arm. The largest torque at 3500 rpm was 7.23 Nm using a 15 mm roller rocker arm. The smallest specific fuel consumption was 0.1546 kg/Hpxh at 5000 rpm using a 15 mm roller rocker arm.

Abstract

This research is based on the need to accelerate poverty reduction for community welfare. The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of poverty reduction policies by TKPKD West Pasaman Regency. This research uses qualitative research. The research location was at the West Pasaman Social Service office, the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), as well as poor villages and community leaders in West Pasaman Regency. Data collection techniques include interviews, documentation studies and field notes. The data validation technique used is a triangulation technique which involves re-checking data previously obtained from various sources to assess the correctness of the data. The data analysis procedure is broken down into several processes which include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, as well as drawing conclusions and verification. The research results show that poverty reduction by West Pasaman Regency TKPKD has not fully achieved the desired targets. There are several factors that influence the implementation of poverty reduction policies by West Pasaman Regency TKPKD, namely; First, the environment is still considered bad. This happens because there are still many individuals who are lazy to work. Second, there are still many organizations that are less active in working in the social sector, especially in terms of eradicating poverty. Third, the resources that West Pasaman Regency has in the TKPKD sector are still not optimal because West Pasaman has not fully maximized the resources that have been applied. Fourth, the character of the implementing agency: In this case, TKPKD implementers have not carried out their responsibilities well.

Abstract

Indonesia as one of the biggest capitals with fisheries industry have more than 90% small-scale fisher spread around the nation. Sadly, in some region, small scale fishers not really implement the proper fish storing method due to the lack of space in their vessel and limited technology. This issue has led to a new idea to build a portable cooling fish storage specifically for small scale fisheries. The aim of this studies is to build and test the performance of prototype of portable fish storage. The method used is direct testing by doing several tests such as power consumption test, temperature decreasing rate, and cost simulation efficiently with some condition and variables. The performance test resulted that power consumption of portable refrigerated fish storage around 374,94 - 651,93 watt with temperature decreasing rate of 0,5 C/minutes. In cost simulation, the portable refrigerated can save up to 90% rather than a traditional fish storage.

Abstract

This research aims to serve as a guidebook or framework for designing a general cargo ship, approximately 100 meters in length, by replacing the conventional diesel system with hydrogen and fuel cell technology. The reference vessel for this study is the general cargo ship with about 100m length operated in Baltic Sea. The results of this research provide the foundational calculations for designing a ship powered by hydrogen fuel cells, including the selection of hydrogen type, battery choice, and compliance with class standards. Additionally, the transformation of the ship's layout is a key outcome of this study. Based on the calculations, the ship, with a sailing duration of approximately three days, requires around 2800 kg of liquid hydrogen. This hydrogen supply can support 4 x 200 kW fuel cells and 5 x 70 kWh batteries. Ultimately, this allows for the design of a hydrogen-powered ship with an endurance of three days.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest archipelagos in the world, boasting an abundant wealth of natural biodiversity. One of these resources is fisheries. The production of dried fish is one of the community's efforts to increase the selling price of fish. The dried fish produced by the community is usually sold in traditional markets and has few buyers due to the lack of attention to the quality of the dried fish. To increase buyers' interest in dried fish, the quality must be improved. The aim of this study is to enhance the production system and quality of dried fish through the use of drying equipment with different drying methods, namely natural convection and forced convection drying systems. In natural convection, the drying process utilizes the movement of air flows caused by density differences, while in forced convection drying, the air flow rate is controlled with the help of a fan. This study involves the use of four variations of air velocity that will be tested: 1 m/s, 2 m/s, 3 m/s, and a gradual reduction from an initial speed of 3 m/s, decreasing by 1 m/s every 3 hours of drying until reaching 1 m/s. Drying is then continued at an air flow rate of 1 m/s until the desired moisture content is achieved. The results of the study indicate that the use of natural convection and forced convection drying methods affects the drying rate and the final product quality, including color, texture, and taste. From the results obtained, the use of forced convection drying method with a gradual reduction in air velocity proved to be the best treatment, with a drying rate of 0.036 kg/h, yielding the best final quality in terms of color, texture, and taste.
