Abstract

The 15th European Union and India Summit held in 2020 indicated that there have been over 50 years of cooperation between the two international actors with their first diplomatic relations that began in 1962. From the summit, the EU – India will form a strategic partnership to carry out collective economic recovery and overcome the global pandemic through increasing trade and biotechnology cooperation. By using qualitative methods through literature studies and a liberalism paradigm approach, the results of the analysis show that there are political challenges from both parties in implementing or following up initiatives to combine free trade and biotechnology cooperation.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a number of countries to implement blockade policies to limit its spread, including Indonesia, which has implemented a large-scale containment social restraint policy (PSBB). This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method to describe, explain, and answer the problems studied for social phenomena in detail. The theory is particularly pertinent to the G20 Indonesia 2022 tourism diplomacy context, because it can be used to enhance Indonesia's reputation as a tourist destination and forge alliances with other nations to attract more travelers. The G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia, had a positive impact on Indonesia, especially tourism and economic recovery through ecotourism. The 2022 G20 summit provided significant economic benefits for Indonesia, helping to recover the economy affected by the Covid-19 virus. This will support efforts to revive the tourism industry after the impact caused by the COVID-19 virus, and fostering a favorable image of the nation internationally. G20 Summit initiatives such as quarantine exemptions for international visitors and reintroduction of visit visas for foreigners have resulted in a potential increase in foreign tourist interest of 83.55%. This makes a significant contribution to the Indonesian tourism industry, creating new jobs, supporting MSMEs and improving the economy. The result shows that government's efforts to promote tourism, including the Proud to Travel Indonesia campaign, aim to increasing the interest and pride of the Indonesian people in domestic travel, and the performance target of the tourism industry has been set to US$7.39-13.08 billion in foreign exchange production by 2024.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the indications of a new currency project which is planned to be announced at the BRICS Summit in South Africa2023. The BRICS countries now account for 40% of the global population and a quarter of global GDP. PUse of Yuan has increased over recent years, accounting for 7% of global foreign exchange trading. While the US dollar continues to play a large role in the international financial system, including serving as the leading global reserve currency. US dominance is increasingly facing challenges from oil-producing countries, including Iran, andalsoWashington's longtime ally Saudi Arabia which announced that it would consider selling oil in currencies other than Dollar. The research uses the theory of International Monetary System and Counter Hegemony in understanding the problems that occur. This research uses a qualitative approach to explain a phenomenon in depth and examines more to the substance of the meaning of the phenomenon. The findings of this research are on the attitude of each BRICS member country, that although BRICS has a discourse for the global financial system, but no country seems to seriously intend to de-dollarize or make a real effort to find an alternative currency to replace the US dollar. The goal that is in the common interest of BRICS is not to replace, find an alternative to the dollar, or even for the purpose of lowering the value of the US dollar. The common goal is to control hegemony so that the US cannot arbitrarily exercise its political power for unilateral economic and military interests.

Abstract

Rwanda's efforts to rebuild the country after the 1994 genocide received a good response from the international community. Thanks to the agricultural industry, Rwanda's economy is growing rapidly. The agricultural sector is a major contributor to Rwanda's economic growth, employing around 70% of its population and contributing 30% of the country's GDP. Even compared to other African countries, Rwanda experienced the fastest economic growth, despite traumatic post-genocide rehabilitation. The importance of the agricultural sector to Rwanda's economy makes it necessary to establish partnerships with international organizations such as FAO. Cooperation between FAO and Rwanda is then included in the Country Programming Framework: 2019 -2023. Not only to create sustainable agriculture, FAO and Rwanda's collaboration is also aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Thus, this research will discuss in more depth how cooperation between Rwanda and FAO can contribute to achieving agricultural sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals. The aim is to better understand how international organizations have a role in the development of developing countries. To answer this, this research will use secondary data analysis methods, both qualitative and quantitative. And the results found were that empowerment programs initiated by FAO had an important role in helping develop Rwanda's agricultural sector and had an impact on achieving several SDGs goals in Rwanda. However, it cannot be denied that the problems in Rwanda's agriculture have not been completely resolved. Challenges such as climate change are one that is still a problem for many countries, including Rwanda.

Abstract

The Indonesian government's policy of local content requirements (LCRs) in the national car industry represents a significant initiative aimed at increasing sustainable added value for the national economy. This study examines how Indonesia, through its Domestic Component Level (TKDN) program, has encouraged foreign car manufacturers, including Japan’s Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), which holds over 36% of the market share, to support this initiative. The success of the program is closely linked to the government's use of economic diplomacy, which navigates domestic economic conditions as well as bilateral and multilateral relations. Using a qualitative approach through secondary data and a review of national and international regulations related to LCRs, this paper explores the Indonesian government’s economic diplomacy strategies towards TMC within the context of both domestic and bilateral frameworks. Furthermore, the analysis considers key factors, including the significance of the Indonesian automotive market and the challenges posed by the current trade regime of the World Trade Organization (WTO), while highlighting the strategic interests of Japanese multinational corporations in Indonesia’s automotive manufacturing industry

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Indonesian bird’s nest export to Hong Kong. Exporting is the act of selling goods and services produced by one country to buyers in another country. Importing is the act of purchasing goods and services produced by another country. Exporting and importing form international trade. According to the Export-base Theory, exporting can be a major factor in the economic growth of a country. Exporting leads to an increase in the inflow of money into a country, which in turn stimulates economic growth. Indonesia provides 80% of the world's edible bird’s nest needs. From 2018 to 2022, Hong Kong was the largest importer of Indonesian edible bird’s nest. During the period, Indonesian edible bird’s nest export to Hong Kong was 711,2 tons annually or approximately 51,8% of Indonesian edible bird’s nest total export volume. This research used qualitative approach which data collection library research; secondary data. The data is analyzed by comparing the volume and value of Hong Kong’s edible bird’s nest export and import and the volume and value of Indonesian edible bird's nest export to this country. The results showed that Indonesian bird’s nest export to Hong Kong was increased in term of export volume. However, it was decreased in terms of export value. Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of the United States' armed military invasion of Afghanistan, initiated after the 9/11 tragedy, on food security in Afghanistan during the years 2021-2022. The research employs a qualitative approach, interpreting data through a descriptive method using literature review from articles, journals, and related scientific studies. The theoretical framework integrates Hegemony Theory to examine U.S. power in Afghanistan and Food Security Theory to assess the food security situation in Afghanistan during 2021-2022. The U.S. military invasion in Afghanistan resulted in economic, food, and political instability, placing the country under significant food security threats, exacerbated by geographic challenges that hinder economic recovery. After the full military withdrawal by the U.S. in 2021, driven by a shift in foreign policy prioritizing diplomacy, alongside critiques of the U.S. occupation and the "America First" policy under Donald Trump, nearly 11 million Afghans remained in critical food insecurity. This number rose to almost 20 million by 2022. International trade conducted by Afghanistan in 2021 had no significant effect on improving the domestic economy. Therefore, the study concludes that the U.S. military withdrawal did not improve Afghanistan's food security, as underlying issues such as geographic conditions and political instability remained the primary factors affecting the country's food security situation.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the causes of Human Smuggling experienced by Indonesian workers in Malaysia. The basic point of this research is the assumption that Indonesia, as a country that quantitatively contributes a very large number of labor exports (TKI) to other countries, at the same time on the "Tier 2 watch list", means there is a significant increase in human smuggling cases in Indonesia. The Human Smuggling cases that are of concern in this research are those that occur between Indonesia and Malaysia. The method used in this research is qualitative exploration, and the data collection used in this research is from journals, books, scientific reports, and others related to the research topic. The results consist of two things; first, human smuggling between Indonesia and Malaysia occurs due to the lack of education by migrant workers, which in turn affects the workers' mentality. In this aspect, the economic condition of workers is also an important cause of human smuggling. Second, legal politics in the aspect of migrant worker friendliness has not been maximized.
