Abstract

The paradoxical hesitancy to covid-19 vaccination amidst spread of the pandemic, especially the deadly Delta Variant, has remained a source of worry to the global community. Despite assurances of the security and adequacy of the immunizations and the jabs being publicly administered on top Nigerian political hierarchy, covid-19 vaccination has remained controversial in Nigeria. It appears that citizens’ apprehensions about the side effects of the vaccines are yet to be overcome. This study investigated the grounds of Nigerian citizens’ hesitancy to covid-19 vaccination. Among others, the ponder inquired the taking after question: What are factors that underlie Nigerian citizens’ hesitancy to covid-19 vaccination? The quantitative study combined Social Cognitive and Diffusion of Innovations theories as theoretical cornerstone. Survey research design was adopted to study a population of 84, 004, 084 from which a test estimate of 384 respondents was drawn. Research results show that the reported side effects of covid-19 vaccines and citizens’ distrust of Nigerian government and health system were leading factors to covid-19 vaccination hesitancy in Nigeria. NAFDAC’s warning of fake covid-19 vaccines being circulated in Nigeria was also found as a factor that underlies hesitancy to vaccination. The study recommends, among other things, that national and international health authorities should address apprehensions generated by the reported side effects of covid-19 vaccines. It was also recommended that Nigerian political leaders should rise to bridge citizens’ distrust in the government.

Abstract

This article uses data from 75 biographies, autobiographies, and research monographs on nursing homes to explore physical neglect and abuse. Linked to crimes of the law abiding concepts, it implies employees see maltreatment as “normal.” It extends lines of research examining bureaucratic forces and their influence on nursing homes. It also provides a history of elder care in the UK and US and a review of structural ritualization theory. Findings concentrate on how rituals involving hierarchical structure, work efficiency, documentation, and rules adversely influence care homes. This includes physical maltreatment involving employee neglect of personal needs of residents, failing to provide medical help, bodily harm, and not maintaining quality living spaces.

Abstract

The emergence of the theory of the welfare state provides wider intervention to the state, in this case the government, especially in seeking the welfare of society, including in terms of employment. The Indonesian Constitution affirms philosophically that promoting public welfare is the responsibility of the government so that its role in employment is very much needed. The relationship between workers/laborers and employers arises from existence of a working agreement. The nature of the prevailing work assention is decided by the boss straightforwardly putting the position of the worker/laborer as the frail party. Therefore, even though at first the employment relationship only involved workers/laborers and employers, it needs to be regulated and supervised by the government as a form of protection for workers/laborers who are always in a disadvantageous position. The presence of the government as the maker and implementer and supervisor of employment policies is a form of implementation and development of welfare state concept. This concept emphasizes that the state does not only maintain law and order but is mindful for looking for the welfare of the individuals.
