Quantum Teknika : Jurnal Teknik Mesin Terapan or Quantum Teknika is a peer-reviewed journal published by Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. Quantum Teknika journal publishes twice a year in April and October. Mechanical engineering is a branch of engineering focusing on mechanical engineering research. Despite of that, the development of the mechanical engineering does not solely encompass machinery science but also other machine-related field such as the automotive science which is composed of energy conversion, design and the forming materials. Abstract

An unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is a type of unmanned aerial vehicle which is controlled by a remote system. This type of aircraft is usually controlled by remote control from outside the plane and can also move automatically based on a program that has been programmed on the computer system. In this study, a control system with autopilot and remote control is used. This study aims to apply the ardupilot system to the super heavy model aircraft with a long-range flight mode control system using the Futaba T8J (8 channel) radio control. The results of this study took a flight time of 15.02 minutes with an altitude of 30 meters, a waypoint radius of 20 meters with a speed of 10 m / s.

Abstract

Blade design and material selection for savonius turbines need to accurate to produce high power input. This research aims to make the most robust blade material by vacuum infusion manufactured. The hybrid laminate composite applied in the manufacture of Savonius turbine blades consists of woven carbon fiber with chopped strand mat glass fiber and woven glass fiber. The variations of fiber composition comprised of five layers, namely 5An (5 layers of woven glass fiber), 5Ac (5 layers of chopped strand mat glass fiber), 2C-3An (2 woven carbon fiber-3 woven glass), and 2C-3Ac (2 woven carbon fiber-3 chopped strand mat glass fiber). The results showed 2C-3An for the best variation of hybrid laminate composite with the tensile strength of 219 MPa, with the modulus of elasticity of 6.8 GPa and the smallest density was 1.21 g/cm3.

Abstract

Surface grinding is the finishing proses needs high smoothness and precision. The main demands from this process is precise, roughness, and not burnt. This analyze is made to know the most influential variable for roughness and precision of a product. This analysis is also carried out to determine roughness and precision that can be achieved using the Okamoto Grind-X ACC84ST machine. Variables that used for this analyze are depth of cut, feeding, and cycle per feed. Every variable has three level. DIN CK-45 material is selected to be specimen because it is usually used by manufacturing and automotive industrial to make a main product. Taguchi method is used to reduce time and amount trial. Experiment replication is done to get more accurate data. The most influential variable for roughness is cycle per feed, while the most influential variable for precision is depth of cut. The roughness that can be achieved using the Okamoto Grind-X ACC84ST machine is in the range of 0,075 μm (N3) to 0,175 μm (N4). Size deviations that occurred in this study ranged from -0,007 mm to 0,005 mm.

Abstract

Design of the red ginger powder production machine aims to increase UMKM(Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah) in the Yogyakarta area. By making a semiautomatic red ginger powder machine, it can increase production capacity and improve the economy for UMKM. Component design is divided into 3 processes, namely; designing the frame, designing the stirring shaft, and designing the cooking tank. There are first adjusted to the design that has been made using the solid works software which is then applied by assembling other components. The drive system on the powdered red ginger production machine uses an AC electric motor which is then forwarded into the v-belt transmission then the output from the transmission is forwarded to the stirring shaft.

Abstract

A motorcycle has an electrical system that functions to make the vehicle operate and provide comfort and safety while driving. Generally, the electrical system on a motorcycle can be divided into three parts: the filling system, the lighting system, and the ignition system. In this study, an analysis was carried out on the body's electrical system, which has more functions in the lighting system. Examining the body's electrical system is carried out by checking the voltage, resistance, and current flowing in each electrical component. The results of these measurements are adjusted to the standard component specifications in the manual. Based on the results of the component inspection, it can be concluded that the inspection of the body's electrical system includes headlights, city lights, rear lights, turn signals, and horns on Nex-FI motorbikes after 5 years of operation in normal conditions according to standards and functions according to their respective roles.

Abstract

The home industry business of cassava chips on Jogonalan, Klaten was using the manual tools in the process of slicing raw cassava. The cassava cutting machine was an alternative solution for the businessman to increase productivity in the process of producing cassava chips. This machine functions as a cassava cutting in the raw material for making chips. The purpose of this design is to plan a cassava cutting machine with a safe and efficient construction in its application. The machine design method refers to the Pahl and Beitz concept. The planning and design process into the following main phases: Planning and task clarification, conceptual design, embodiment design, and detail design. Analysis of the motion mechanism and calculation of engine elements were used to determine the power specification and capacity of the machine. The planned capacity of the cassava cutting machine is 80kg/hour with a motor power of 0.25 hp, the final rotation of 210 rpm. The results of the technical analysis on the main part of the cassava cutting show that the power capacity of the electric motor, transmission system and frame construction on the machine was safe.

Abstract

Stress analysis of the bender components in the design of the begel fabricator machine was carried out using FEA (Finite Element Analysis) with three variations of the constituent material parameters, namely 6061 aluminum, mild steel, and cast iron with a modulus of elasticity of 68.9 GPa, 220 GPa, 120.5 GPa, respectively. The test is carried out by a loading parameter 2520 MPa and fixed constraint. The maximum von misses stress and displacement obtained for each material parameter components using aluminum, mild steel, and cast iron are 17.78 MPa; 0.00765, 17.49 MPa; 0.00229, 17.62 MPa; 0.00427 respectively.

Abstract

This research aimed to (1) Determining the differences in power and torque to use of a coil standard, a copper, and silver wire ground strap variation coils. (2) Determining the color characteristics of the sparks' size generated from the use of standard coils, variation coils of copper, and silver ground strap. This research used an experimental method. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis, namely, observing and recording the test results and then concluding in tables and graphs. The test results show that an increase in power, and torque is generated in this test. The highest results were obtained using a silver ground strap variation coil with a power of 11.3 hp and torque of 12.05 Nm. In this case, the percentages are 7.6% and 7.8% from the lowest results of the standard coil. There are different colors, sizes, and characters obtained in the test of sparks. The dark blue-purplish sparks color is obtained from the silver wire ground strap variation coil, which can increase motor performance in a motorcycle. These results suggest that the ground strap on the spark plug coil wire can provide an increment in engine performance.

Abstract

Clean room is a room with the amount of air deposition controlled, classified, designed, constructed and operated by controlling particles in the air. And the parameters that are controlled such as temperature, relative humidity, debit and number of particles. The drug manufacturing process must meet CPOB (Cara Pembuatan Obat yang Baik) standards in order to obtain quality drugs. The purpose of knowing the critical factors of the clean room in terms of air conditioning, namely temperature and Relative Humidity (RH), looking at air flow, air exchange, seeing the return discharge with air recirculation quality and seeing the number of particles in accordance with CPOB, the research method was carried out by taking data on a drug company, PT. X in Bandung and literature study to compare with the prevailing CPOB standards. The results of the study show that the critical factor is the measured air temperature of 17-22oC with RH 45-57% and meets CPOB standards, namely temperatures of 16-25oC with RH 45-55%. The rated air supply discharge is 5,000 m3 / hour with air exchange / ACH (Air Change Hour), meeting the average standard of 118.5 times per hour. Meanwhile, the measured return discharge is 750-2000 m3 / hour and is well recirculated. The number of particles for the size of 0.5 µm and 5 µm was 38,081 and 46 particles met the CPOB standard because the maximum standard was 325,000 and 2,900 particles.

Abstract

Technological progress is evidenced by the creation of sophisticated equipment made to simplify human life. One of the advanced equipment continuously developed is an uncrewed aircraft called the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). This study used an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Super Heavy aircraft with a two-stroke engine type OS 4.6 LA where the two-stroke engine requires fuel which can also lubricate the piston while operating. The purpose of this research is to make an alternative fuel with a mixture of methanol and castor oil where castor oil has flammable properties like fuel in general but can provide better lubrication. In this research, an analysis of the mixture of methanol and castor oil will be carried out on engine performance and fuel consumption of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) aircraft with an engine type OS 4.6 LA. This research aims to compare methanol and castor oil with a ratio of 3:1 and 4:1, then test engine performance and fuel consumption. The results confirm that a 4: 1 mixture is the best performer with a stationary rotation of 4184 rpm, an idle rotation of 7344 rpm, and an acceleration rotation or the highest rotation of 12649 rpm. Then the fuel efficiency in the idle position with a flight time of 9.00 minutes consumes 100 ml of fuel, or in other words, the fuel consumption is 11.11 ml/minute.
