Abstract

Breastfeeding is the best way a mother can give for the baby's health. Effective breastfeeding can save 820,000 children every year. The current exclusive breastfeeding rate is far below the target set globally, nationally, and locally in Central Kalimantan Province. The highest exclusive breastfeeding was given in the first month of birth and declined with the increasing age of the baby. Based on the Indonesia health profile report, there has been a decrease in the rate of exclusive breastfeeding since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the factors associated with breastfeeding in the first month of the COVID-19 pandemic in Palangka Raya City. This research is an analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study was breastfeeding mothers whose babies aged > 1 month met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, as many as 97 mothers. The analysis was carried out by univariate and bivariate with a chi-square test. The results showed that only 35.1% of mothers fully breastfed their babies in the first month and there was a relationship between parity and breastfeeding in the first month during the COVID-19 pandemic (p value < 0.05). It is expected that health workers can further improve education related to breastfeeding, especially during the pandemic to increase the baby's immunity to the covid virus and improve the baby's health.

Abstract

A Breastfeeding is one of the significant components in preventing stunting among under-five children. Breastmilk contains immune substances and nutrients that are suitable for the baby's needs. Therefore, the implementation of early breastfeeding initiation and exclusive breastfeeding is crucial. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, breastfeeding became quite a worry for mothers because they were worried about the transmission of the coronavirus from mother to baby. With a qualitative approach, this study aimed to explore the knowledge of Posyandu cadres and under-five mothers regarding breastfeeding during the Covid-19 pandemic. A total of 10 cadres and 20 under-five mothers were involved as main informants. All interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim. The data were analyzed through three stages, namely coding, categorization, and determining the theme. This study shows that all informants stated that mothers can transmit the coronavirus to their babies through breast milk. Most of the informants stated that mothers who were positive for Covid-19 were not allowed to breastfeed their babies, including early initiation of breastfeeding. In addition, the informants also argued that under six months infants can be fed with formula milk if the mother is confirmed positive for Covid-19. Therefore, it can be concluded that the level of knowledge of Posyandu cadres and mothers of toddlers regarding breastfeeding during the Covid-19 pandemic is still low. Health workers need to carry out health promotions and education to the public about breastfeeding during the Covid-19 pandemic so that the achievement of breastfeeding remains on target.

Abstract

Postpartum Haemorrhage is a condition of blood loss of more than 500 cc that occurs within 24 hours after delivery. Postpartum hemorrhage is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality in childbirth. Postpartum Haemorrhage occurs in about 1% to 6% of all deliveries. Uterine atony, the leading cause of primary postpartum hemorrhage, accounts for 70% to 80% of all bleeding. Early prevention in postpartum hemorrhage cases is the usage of uterotonics in the third stage of labor which has become the standard of intervention worldwide. The choice of uterotonic in managing postpartum hemorrhage should be adjusted to the administration and dosage. This Study aims to analyze the difference in prophylactic administration of oxytocin injected in intramuscular and intravenous during postpartum hemorrhage. Data were searched using PICO, articles were selected using PRISMA, and critical appraisal. There is decreased postpartum hemorrhage compared to IM oxytocin administration. Intra Vena oxytocin administration could reduce the incidence of severe postpartum hemorrhage and prevent blood transfusions compared to IM oxytocin administration in the third stage of labor in postpartum hemorrhage. However, there was no significant difference in hemoglobin changes. The side effects caused by intravenous administration are still manageable compared to intramuscular administration. Intravenous oxytocin prevented postpartum hemorrhage in stage III more effectively than intramuscular administration. The side effects that emerged in the two groups of intravenous and intramuscular administration were not significantly different and were still within mild limits. The administration of oxytocin in preventing postpartum hemorrhage in the third stage of labor has become a procedure and recommendation of health organizations.

Abstract

The growth and development of infants is a golden period which is also a critical period in a person's development in early life at the age of 0-12 months. Motor development disorder is a disorder that causes developmental delays due to many things, including abnormalities in muscle tone and lack of stimulation for the baby. In Indonesia alone, there are 5-10% of children are estimated to experience developmental delays. At the simultaneous weighing of toddlers in Demak in 2020 it was found that out of 97,129 toddlers, there were 7.71% experienced developmental delays. Data from the Guntur 1 Demak Health Center from 2021 to June states that the number of babies aged 0-12 months is 523 babies. The lack of knowledge of the baby's parents about growth and development and the little stimulation given to the baby both from caregivers and from the baby's parents makes most babies experience developmental delays. One of the efforts to reduce the number of developmental disorders is by providing Baby Gym stimulation. In infants, Baby Gym is a form of exercise to help stimulate the growth and development of the baby's nervous and motoric systems optimally. This study aimed to determine the effect of the baby gym on gross motor development in infants aged 3-4 months at the Guntur I Health Center in Demak. This study used a quasi-experimental approach with a one-group pre-test and post-test research design. The sampling technique here is based on the purposive sampling method, with a population of 28 babies and a total sample of 16 babies. Based on bivariate analysis using the Wilxocon correlation test, it was obtained a p-value of 0.000 <0.05, it can be concluded 'that there is an effect of differences in gross motor development of infants aged 3-4 months before and after being given a baby gym at the Guntur I Health Center in Demak". The Effect of Baby Gym on Gross Motor Development in Infants Aged 3-4 Months at the Guntur I Health Center in Demak.
