Abstract

Abstract

Effective and efficient development planning is carried out if you know the potential of each region. This research aims to find out and analyze the basic sectors and subsectors for development in Tebing Tinggi City, there are 17 sectors used according to business fields in the 2017-2021 GRDP. This research was conducted in Tebing Tinggi City and the data was obtained from the Central Statistics Agency for Tebing Tinggi City and North Sumatra Province. This research uses a qualitative, descriptive approach. This research uses three analyses, namely Location Quotient (LQ) analysis, Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ) analysis, and Klassen Typology. Based on the results of research on the agricultural sector in Tebing Tinggi City, non-based in the present and based in the future, however based on the Klassen Typology the agricultural sector is in the mainstay sector, namely LQ 1 and DLQ 1.  In the future, each regional government must be able to maintain the stability of growth in each sector, both sectors base or non-base, because the base sector is the strength and competitiveness of the region and improves the regional economy.

Abstract

Salak pondoh (Salacca zalacca var pondoh) is a plant native to Indonesia and this fruit has quite high value and is liked by many consumers in Indonesia. However, the quality of snake fruit can decrease due to damage caused by plant pathogens such as fungi (fungi). This of course can result in snake fruit being unfit for consumption because it is damaged. The results of the research found that there are three types of diseases that attack Pondoh salak plants which are caused by fungi, namely brown leaf spot disease caused by the fungus Pestalotia sp. with an attack intensity of 42%-54%, stem rot disease caused by the fungus Corticium salmonicolor with an attack intensity of 26%-30%, and fruit rot disease caused by the fungus Chalaropsis sp. with an attack intensity of 20% -23%. The cause of fungal disease attacks on Pondoh salak plants is also triggered by the humid environmental conditions around the Pondoh salak plantations and the rainy season, making it easier for the fungus to reproduce.

Abstract

The demand for red chilies shows indications that it continues to increase along with the increase in population and increasing national economic stability. The reason for conducting this research was to determine the amount of production costs incurred and the income from red chili farming. The research location was carried out on the Bukit Kor land, Terengganu, Malaysia, determining the research location using the Purposive Sampling method. Using census data collection techniques, researchers use all members of the population. Factors that influence the growth of chilies are sunlight, humidity, rainfall and soil type. The number of samples collected in this research was 50 respondents as a population of farmers who raise red chilies in that location. The data obtained was processed tabulatedly, then continued for analysis using the formula π = TR – TC. The results of the analysis of red chili farming on the Bukit Kor land with a land area of 1 Ha showed that the total production was 48 tons/MT, and to production costs were IDR 86,070,250/Mt. The results of this research stated that red chili farming on the Bukit Kor land, Terengganu obtained a final income profit of IDR 1,505,706,980/Mt.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze and determine how much effect the factors of capital, land area, labor and fertilizer used have on Arabica coffee production in Kuta Rayat Village, Naman Teran District, Karo Regency. This research was conducted by interviewing and filling out questionnaires with 35 samples of Arabica coffee farmers. The method used in this research was quantitative methods and multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of the linear regression test in this study, it showed that the Capital variable (X1), the Land Area variable (X2), the Fertilizer variable (X4) have a positive and real effect on increasing Arabica coffee production, while the Labor variable (X3) has a significant effect. negative impact on Arabica coffee production. Based on the results of the T – test, the sequence of variables that is most significant in increasing Arabica coffee production is the Fertilizer variable (X4), the Land Area variable (X2), the Capital variable (X1), and the Labor variable (X3).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the marketing channels and efficiency of watermelon marketing in Paya Itik Village, Galang District, Deli Serdang Regency. The research location was chosen purposively, with watermelon farmers selected using purposive sampling, while marketing institutions were chosen using snowball sampling. Data were analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods. Qualitative descriptive analysis was used to examine the marketing channels, while quantitative analysis was employed to calculate marketing margins, farmer’s share, and marketing efficiency. The results identified three marketing channels, with the third channel having the highest marketing margin, while the first channel provided the highest farmer’s share. In terms of efficiency, marketing channels I and II for grade A watermelons were considered efficient, with marketing efficiency between 0-33%. This study offers insights into efficient watermelon marketing patterns and has the potential to help farmers improve profitability by optimizing their choice of marketing channels.

Abstract

The horn beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros Linn.) is a major pest that attacks young oil palm plants and causes serious damage to the growth points, thereby inhibiting plant productivity and growth. So far, this pest control is generally carried out chemically using synthetic insecticides such as carbofuran and cypermethrin. Although effective in the short term, the use of pesticides risks causing pest resistance, environmental pollution, and harming non-target organisms. Alternatively, biological control using natural attractants based on pineapple juice is a promising approach. Pineapple contains volatile compounds such as ethyl 4-methyl butanoate, flavonoids, and alkaloids that function as attractants as well as pest life cycle inhibitors. This literature study aims to analyze the effectiveness of pineapple juice in controlling O. rhinoceros based on previous findings. The results of the study show that the use of pineapple juice has ecological and economic advantages, and has the potential to be integrated in the Integrated Pest Control (PHT) strategy. Nevertheless, it is necessary to standardize formulation and evaluate effectiveness in various field conditions to optimize its utilization.
