Abstract

To carry out construction on soft soil, cases of land subsidence are often encountered. This is due to the low bearing capacity and small shear force, large compression, and very small permeability. To address this problem, one method that can be implemented is soil improvement using preloading and Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD). The aim of this research is to find out the magnitude of consolidation settlement by using analytical methods and by using PLAXIS 2D modeling at reclamation project locations besides CPO tanks between Belawan Islands based on Bore Log BH-02 data. It is also to compare coarse mesh, medium mesh, and fine mesh in PLAXIS 2D modeling, and to obtain the amount of land subsidence using preloading only and preloading with a combination of preloading and Prefabricated Vertical Drain (PVD) based on Bore Log BH-02 points. From the analytical results obtained a decrease of 1.254 meters. While the PLAXIS 2D modeling uses a medium mesh that has been combined with a PVD of 1.268 meters. This means that the results of the settlement by modeling using PLAXIS 2D are closer to the SP-02 settlement plate data of 1.270 meters. The settlement uses PLAXIS 2D with a coarse mesh of 1,266 meters and a fine mesh of 1,282 meters. While modeling using preloading only obtained a decrease of 0.340 meters. It can be concluded that the results of modeling using PLAXIS 2D in using medium mesh that has been combined with PVD are relatively closer to settlement data in the field with a percentage difference of 0.142% settlement plate SP-02 settlement.

Abstract

Climate change can cause an increase in sea temperatures which will have an impact on sea level rise due to the expansion of sea water volume and melting ice at the poles. Rising sea levels pose a threat to areas in coastal and coastal areas, one of which is Medan Belawan District. One of the impacts is tidal flooding. Tidal floods caused by high tides are then exacerbated by the phenomenon of rising sea levels so that it becomes a factor in increasing tidal flood inundation. The purpose of this study is to analyze sea level rise in Medan Belawan District by processing tidal data for 2012-2022 and sea level anomalies for 1993-2022 in the rate of sea level rise. The method used to calculate the tidal component uses the Admiralty method, sea level rise uses the linear regression method. The results of this study show that the value of sea level rise based on tidal data is 0.22 mm/year and 4.5 mm/year based on altimetry satellite data.

Abstract

Road-based mass transit systems or commonly referred to as Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) are currently experiencing quite rapid development in various countries including Indonesia. At the end of 2020 the Government has inaugurated urban road-based mass public transportation with the Buy The Service (BTS) Service Scheme in 5 (five) major cities including the city of Medan. Evaluation or strategy must continue to be carried out so that this BTS mode can continue to be sustainable. One of the steps that can be taken is to examine the level of satisfaction and loyalty of current users to continue using the BTS mode. This underlies this research to analyze the level of passenger satisfaction of the Trans Metro Deli Bus and to analyze the effect of passenger satisfaction on the loyalty of the Trans Metro Deli Bus passengers. The Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) Method is used to analyze the satisfaction level of Trans Metro Deli Bus passengers because this method can be used to evaluate and design management from the results of the analysis of service user perceptions regarding the suitability between expectations and quality received. While the Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modeling (PLS – SEM) Method is used to analyze the effect of passenger satisfaction on passenger loyalty because this method can be used to estimate model relationships. This analysis method uses Smart PLS software. Through measurements using the IPA method, the results show that the highest level of passenger satisfaction is found in the safety attribute (92.59%), then the safety attribute (90.54%), and comfort (91.11%). All three are included in the achievement quadrant that must be maintained, and the attributes of equality (87.24%) and regularity (87.74%) are included in the low priority quadrant while the affordability attribute (84.79%) is included in the quadrant which is the main priority for improvement . Meanwhile, if analyzed per each corridor, in the Medan Tuntungan – Merdeka Square corridor, the affordability attribute is included in the low priority quadrant because in terms of quality it is still low, but expectations are also low. And when analyzed on a job basis, the regularity attribute is included in the top priority to be improved. The results of the analysis of the effect of passenger satisfaction on passenger loyalty using the PLS-SEM method concluded that the effect of passenger satisfaction on passenger loyalty was significant with an influence value of 0.647 and the direction of the relationship between the two variables was positive.

Abstract

The family environment greatly influences students' success in achieving good learning outcomes. This is reinforced by the theory in Djaali's book; Family situations (father, mother, siblings, younger siblings, older siblings, and extended family) have a significant impact on a child's success within the family. Parental education, economic status, home environment, the percentage of parental relationships, words, and parental guidance all influence a child's learning achievements. This study aims to determine the influence of the family environment on student learning outcomes in the Social Studies subject for fourth-grade students at SDN 38 Ampenan. This research falls under the category of population research and is Expost Facto in nature. The study was conducted at SDN 38 Ampenan in fourth-grade classes, consisting of parallel classes IV/A and IV/B, during the academic year 2022/2023. The data collection instrument used was a family environment questionnaire and data on student test scores in the Social Studies subject. The family environment indicators used include parenting styles, family member relationships, home atmosphere, family economic conditions, and parental understanding. The data analysis techniques employed include descriptive statistical tests, tests for homogeneity, normality, and hypothesis testing. Hypothesis testing uses simple linear regression. The research results show that the significance value obtained is less than 0.005, and the calculated t-value is greater than the tabulated t-value. This indicates that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, suggesting a significant influence of the family environment on student learning outcomes in the Social Studies subject at SDN 38 Ampenan.

Abstract

Character education is an effort to balance the widespread effects of globalization. Globalization has reached every segment of society, including elementary school-aged children. There are both positive and negative impacts resulting from the prevalence of globalization. The issue at hand is the negative impact itself, and children are particularly vulnerable to these negative effects, as they are not yet capable of filtering or distinguishing between what is good and what is harmful. The aim of this research is to describe the implementation of three character values through analysis of planning, teaching execution, and learning evaluation. Additionally, the study seeks to identify the supporting and hindering factors in implementing these three character values in the fourth-grade class at SDN Tiwu Asem. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews with informants. Data collection techniques also include field observations and documentation. Data validity is ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and theoretical triangulation. Data analysis is carried out by collecting, reducing, presenting, and drawing conclusions from the data. The research findings indicate that the implementation of character values at SDN Tiwu Asem has been integrated into the teaching process through planning, execution, evaluation, and practical application. Supporting factors include the inclusion of character education in the curriculum and dedicated teachers who drive the implementation of character values. On the other hand, inhibiting factors include a lack of teacher understanding, student behavior, teaching execution, and the underdevelopment of a school culture to support character education.
