Abstract

A hematocrit test is an examination that aims to diagnose a disease related to the number of red blood cells (erythrocytes). In the laboratory, there are often errors in hematocrit examinations, namely with the inaccuracy of the centrifuge time, with the large number of patients it is one of the obstacles for laboratory staff in conducting examinations, so that the centrifuge is turned off faster and sometimes also late. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of centrifugation speed and time on hematocrit levels of students in the fourth semester of AAK Manggala Yogyakarta in 2023. This research method is descriptive analytical. The sample of this study is 39 samples. This study uses the microhematocrit method at 15,000 rpm, 12,000 rpm, 10,000 rpm, 7,000 rpm for 5 and 10 minutes with data analysis using the Kruskal Wallis test. The results showed that the average hematocrit value in men was 40% and women was 40%. The results of the statistical test show the significance value 15,000 rpm for 5 and 10 minutes is p=0.631 (p>0.05), 12,000 rpm during 5 and 10 minutes is p= 0.255 (p>0.05), 10,000 rpm for 5 and 10 minutes is p= 0.496 (p>0.05) at 7,000 rpm for 5 and 10 minutes is p=0.316 (p>0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is no effect of speed and time of snetrifugation on hematocrit values. (p> 0.05).

Abstract

Mariso Village is one of the working areas of Puskesmas Dahlia that faces nutrition challenges, especially stunting. In addition, pregnant women also need special attention to their nutritional intake, because lack of nutrition during pregnancy can be one of the main causes of stunting. Based on data collected by 25 posyandu cadres spread throughout the hamlet, there are 14 children with stunting conditions and 6 pregnant women who experience Chronic Energy Deficiency (CEC). Puskesmas Dahlia has run a nutrition kitchen program as an effort to handle stunting in children. However, there are obstacles in utilizing the available local food ingredients, and some programs have not covered pregnant women. In the context of community service, efforts were made to educate posyandu cadres about stunting, SEZ in pregnant women, and the utilization of local ingredients such as banana heart, one of which was through the innovation of making Banana Heart Biscuits “BINTANG”. Various methods were applied in this activity, including initial observation in the form of measuring children's weight (BB) and height (TB), and measuring the upper arm circumference (LILA) of pregnant women. The activity continued with health education for posyandu cadres and a demonstration of banana heart-based biscuit making. Initial observations conducted over two days showed that there were 14 stunted children and 6 SEZ pregnant women. After that, health education was provided to cadres, followed by training in biscuit making, as well as assistance and product distribution by cadres. The results of this activity increased the knowledge of posyandu cadres while positively impacting the nutritional status of stunted children and pregnant women with SEZ. Banana Heart Biscuits are now one of the additional menus provided in posyandu activities for toddlers and pregnant women. In addition, these biscuits are also used as a side menu in the Supplementary Feeding program which is routinely held every week in Bontorannu Village.

Abstract

Empowerment in Afghanistan’s rural areas has the potential to significantly transform rural residents' knowledge, attitudes, and work practices. Empowerment is fundamental for achieving development, as progress without empowering marginalized Afghan communities is often deemed unattainable. Empowering rural communities can be understood as a process of enhancing individuals' capacities to utilize their autonomy and mobilize local resources in productive and innovative ways within their communities. Any community development initiative rooted in local resources should aim to reduce poverty in diverse rural settings. Therefore, to foster local development and advancement, it is imperative to focus on empowering these communities by harnessing their talents and capabilities and utilizing natural, social, and advanced technological resources. This approach paves the way for community flourishing and sustainable development. This study aims to formulate strategies for managing rural empowerment aligned with sustainable development. Using a qualitative content analysis of relevant sources, data were collected through document analysis. The research revisits past studies and theories, synthesizing them to introduce the background of empowerment while tracing the trajectory of research surrounding the necessity of empowerment with a sustainable rural development approach.

Abstract

In the rapidly developing digital era, the application of technology in the field of education is a must to improve the quality and efficiency of the learning and assessment process. One of the innovations that has emerged is the use of Android-based applications for the implementation of exams and assessments. This study aims to analyze the use of the Woka ABT (Android Based Test) application in improving the efficiency of final semester assessments at SMA Negeri 2 Garut. Along with the development of technology, digital-based assessment methods are increasingly needed to replace conventional assessments that take more time and resources. This study uses a quantitative approach with an experimental method. Data was collected through surveys and interviews with teachers as well as analysis of time and costs incurred before and after the use of the Woka ABT application. The results show that the use of the Woka ABT application significantly reduces the time required for the assessment process and processing of exam results. In addition, the application also reduces paper usage and operational costs, as well as improves accuracy in assessment. Teachers and students have given positive feedback to the use of this application because of the ease of access and features that help in the teaching and learning process. The conclusion of this study is that the implementation of the Woka ABT application at SMA Negeri 2 Garut contributes positively to the efficiency of the final semester assessment. The implementation of Android-based technology in educational assessment not only improves efficiency, but also supports schools' efforts towards wider digitalization. The recommendation of this study is that other schools can consider using similar applications to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the assessment process.

Abstract

Obstetric brachial plexus injury (OBPI) is a peripheral nervous system disorder. The incidence of OBPI dropped 47.1% over the sixteen-year study period, from 1.7 to 0.9 cases per 1000 live births. In Indonesia, the incidence of OBPI is 0.141%. Even though most babies recover spontaneously in the first 3 months of life, 20-30% suffer permanent functional deficits, which significantly impair their quality of life, which means a small number remain with bad recovery which requires surgical brachial plexus exploration. For children with complex medical conditions, it is important to implement and refer multidisciplinary strategies as early as possible. This can greatly improve their chances of functional recovery. To provide the best possible care, primary care physicians, physiatrists, nerve surgeons, and occupational and physical therapists should work together and modify current treatment paradigms. This will help to ensure improved quality care for these children. Successful treatment of patients with OBPI begins with an accurate understanding of the anatomy of the brachial plexus and the pathophysiology of nerve injury. Two main treatments/therapies for OBPI were identified: conservative treatment and surgical treatment. This review will explain the latest update on the management and rehabilitation of OBPI
