Abstract

Early health detection is an important strategy in preventing disease risks in the community. Through routine health checks, disease risk factors can be identified early so that preventive interventions can be carried out appropriately. However, the utilization of early health detection services at the community level, especially in rural areas, is still not optimal. This study aims to describe early health detection as an effort to prevent disease risks in the community of Hamlet 1, Baru Village, Kampar Regency. This study is a descriptive study with a survey approach. The subjects were 312 heads of families domiciled in Hamlet 1, Baru Village, Kampar Regency. Data were collected through family data collection using a health platform that includes routine health check behavior for non-communicable diseases, early detection of cervical cancer, smoking behavior in the home, and infant immunization coverage by age group. Most families have not undergone routine health checks at least every 6 months, specifically abdominal circumference examinations (80.45%), early detection of cervical cancer (92.63%), blood sugar (59.62%), and cholesterol (58.97%). In addition, 43.27% of family members smoke in the home. Infant immunization coverage shows disparities across almost all age groups, particularly for follow-up immunizations such as PCV, Rotavirus, Influenza, MR, JE, Varicella, and Hepatitis A. The persistently low early detection of NCDs and suboptimal infant immunization coverage highlight the need to strengthen health education, increase access to services, and strengthen the role of families and health workers at the community level.

Abstract

Sleep disturbances in pregnant women are often experienced during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, occurring due to physiological and psychological adaptations. Sleep disturbances can lead to depression and stress, which may affect the fetus. Pregnancy massage can be one solution for women experiencing complaints of reduced sleep quality and back pain. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of pregnancy massage on changes in sleep quality in pregnant women in the third trimester in the service area of the Gunung Sari Health Center, Kampar District. The design used was a pre-experimental design in one group (one group pre-test post-test). The sample used consisted of pregnant women with a sampling technique using total sampling. The researchers administered treatment to the study group, which had previously undergone a pretest, and then conducted a posttest after the intervention. The pregnancy massage treatment was administered for 20 minutes, 4 times in 2 consecutive weeks. The quality of sleep of pregnant women was measured using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). The data analysis used was the Wilcoxon test.  The results of the study showed that there was an effect of pregnancy massage on changes in the sleep quality of pregnant women in their third trimester in the working area of the Gunung Sari Community Health Center, Kampar Regency, with a p-value of 0.002 (p-value < 0.05). This clarifies that pregnancy massage has the potential to improve sleep quality, which affects the health of pregnant women.

Abstract

Waste remains a problem in the environment that continues to this day and must be addressed. The habit of littering, not recycling, and the lack of efforts to separate organic and un organic waste are major factors in the increase in waste volume. In addition, uneven environmental education exacerbates this condition, particularly among students. This study aims to determine the effect of educational videos on students' knowledge, attitudes, and behavior in waste management. This is a quantitative study using a quasi-experimental design, which is an experiment conducted on only one group with a one-group pre-test and post-test design measured by a pre-test conducted before the education and a post-test conducted after the education. The research was conducted at the Payung Negeri Pekanbaru Institute of Health with a sample of 40 first-year public health students at Payung Negeri Pekanbaru Institute of Health in 2025. The results of the statistical test using Wilcoxon showed a p-value = 0.000 (p<0.05), which means that there is an effect of providing educational videos on the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors of waste management among first-year public health students at the Payung Negeri Pekanbaru Institute of Health

Abstract

The importance of early stimulation for infants lies in the fact that their growth and development are influenced by various internal and external factors. One effective form of stimulation within the midwife’s scope of practice is Baby Spa, which includes baby massage, baby gym, and baby swimming. Specifically, baby massage is known for its benefits in improving weight gain, sleep quality, and emotional bonding, while baby gym plays a role in optimizing motor development, muscle strength, and coordination. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of baby massage and baby gym on the growth and development of infants aged 6–12 months. The methodology used was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design with a control group. A total of 40 infants were equally divided into two groups: 20 infants received baby massage (intervention group) and 20 infants received baby gym (control group). Both interventions were administered 8 times, twice a week, with a duration of 30 minutes per session. Infant development was measured using the SDIDTK (Early Childhood Development Stimulation, Detection, and Intervention) Form before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Mann Whitney test and Paired t-test. The results showed that both baby massage and baby gym had a significant effect on improving infant growth (weight and length), with a P-value of 0.000 (P < 0.05) for both interventions. However, further comparative analysis revealed a significant difference in the effects of the two interventions in improving growth (weight P = 0.00; height P = 0.000) and development (P = 0.00). It was concluded that there is a difference in effectiveness between baby massage and baby gym as stimulation interventions for infants aged 6–12 months. The researchers recommend enhancing education for mothers on the importance of stimulation for infants aged 6–12 months

Abstract

The life-course approach emphasizes that health interventions for the elderly are vital for maintaining functional capacity and quality of life. This study examines the implementation of the Meja 5 Plus system at community health posts specifically for older adults. The integration includes specialized nutrition services, clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS) education, and reproductive health counseling. Findings indicate that these comprehensive services effectively address degenerative disease prevention and nutritional fulfillment tailored to physiological changes. However, the program faces challenges such as limited volunteer capacity and resource availability in community settings. Strengthening cadre training and multi-sectoral support remains essential for the long-term sustainability of elderly health services.
