Abstract

Breast milk is the best food for babies. Breast milk is specifically made for human babies. The nutritional content of breast milk is very special and perfect and meets the needs of infant growth and development. Oxytocin massage is a stimulation to stimulate the release of the hormone oxytocin through oxytocin massage, providing a sense of comfort and instilling confidence in the mother that breast milk will definitely come out and the mother can provide exclusive breastfeeding. This type of research uses a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. This design consists of one group given a pretest before being given treatment, then given treatment and then a posttest to determine the results. The research was conducted in July-August 2025. The sample size was 31 people taken using purposive sampling technique. The results of the study showed that the lowest breast milk production before oxytocin massage was 0 cc while the highest production was 2 cc with an average breast milk production of 0.3 cc. The lowest breast milk production after oxytocin massage was 0 cc while the highest production was 4.3 cc with an average breast milk production of 1 cc. Bivariate test analysis, namely parametric statistical tests using Paired t-test, obtained a p-value < (0.05) which is 0.000 < α = 0.05 which means that oxytocin massage is effective in increasing breast milk production in postpartum mothers. From these results, health services need to implement oxytocin massage as a method to increase breast milk production in postpartum mothers.

Abstract

Introduction. Poisoning education is a process that nursing students must go through to become skilled and professional health workers. Abortion education can be conducted in the classroom or in the laboratory before undergoing clinical practice. Increasing self-confidence and skills (laboratory skills) can be done by providing education with appropriate methods, one of which is by using the self-instructional module (SIM) learning method. Emergency problems that are often encountered in the practice are airway problems. This condition requires nursing students to know and be able to provide actions in emergency conditions, namely maintaining the patient's breathing. Good self-confidence and skills will affect student performance later in facing a real emergency environment. Objective: Knowing SIM can increase self-confidence and laboratory skills related to the implementation of airway management in students with bleeding. Method: A pre-experimental study with a pretest posttest design approach, involving 28 respondents selected by consecutive sampling. The research instrument used an e-module airway management, a self-confidence questionnaire and observation sheets for the implementation of head tilt chin lift, jaw thrust, OPA installation, NPA, and suction. Results: Both self-confidence and laboratory skills showed an effect after the SIM intervention, with a p-value of 0.032 for self-confidence and 0.001 for laboratory skills (head tilt chin lift, jaw thrust, OPA insertion, NPA insertion, and suction). Conclusion: Based on the results, SIM can be a learning method for nursing students in learning airway management.

Abstract

Waste management remains a strategic issue in Indonesia along with the increasing population, urbanization, and changes in consumption patterns that contribute to the rise in annual waste generation. This study aims to analyze waste generation trends and the distribution of its sources in districts and cities in Indonesia during the period 2020–2024. The research design uses a quantitative descriptive approach with secondary data from the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN). The analysis is conducted through tabulation and graphical visualization to illustrate the comparison of trends and the contribution of waste sources. The research results show that the waste generation in urban areas is higher than in rural areas, with a total of 9.03 million tons in the city and 7.38 million tons in the district in 2020, increasing to 9.25 million tons in the city and 7.57 million tons in the district by 2024. The source of waste is dominated by households, with contributions increasing from 58.0% to 73.9% in the district, and from 37.8% to 51.1% in the city. Contributions from other sources such as markets, offices, public facilities, and areas are relatively small, while the percentage of areas that do not report data is still quite high, especially in the city. These results indicate that households are the main source of waste, so community-based management, increased public awareness, and improvements in the data reporting system are key to achieving sustainable waste management. Keywords: District, city, waste, source, trend

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious disease transmitted through the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, with a high case burden in Indonesia, including in South Labuhanbatu Regency. One of the efforts to control DHF is through Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) using the 3M Plus method, which aims to increase the Mosquito-Free Rate (ABJ) as an indicator of vector control success. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of PSN 3M Plus education on increasing ABJ in the working area of Beringin Jaya Health Center. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 100 households selected according to inclusion criteria, with an initial measurement of the presence of mosquito larvae (pretest), followed by an intervention in the form of 3M Plus PSN education through outreach, mutual cooperation, and cadre assistance, as well as a re-measurement (posttest). The research results showed that before the intervention, mosquito larvae were found in 48% of homes, while 52% were free of larvae. After the intervention, the ABJ increased significantly to 100% with a p-value of 0.0001. These findings demonstrate that 3M Plus PSN education is effective in increasing community awareness and behavior towards dengue prevention, thus it can be used as a sustainable promotional and preventive strategy in vector control.

Abstract

Meningitis and polio vaccination are essential requirements for Umrah pilgrims to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases in large-scale gatherings, yet pilgrims’ interpretations of vaccination remain varied and are influenced by their knowledge and religious values. This study aims to explore the meaning of vaccination from the perspective of the philosophy of science through the dimensions of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Using a reflective qualitative approach, the study involved ten Umrah pilgrims who had undergone vaccination at Klinik Pratama UES Medika Pekanbaru. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. The findings reveal three patterns of meaning: an existential–spiritual meaning that views vaccination as an effort to maintain health and prepare for worship; a mixed meaning that combines administrative requirements with health-related intentions; and a minimal meaning that regards vaccination merely as a technical procedure. Pilgrims’ knowledge was shaped by information received from travel agencies, healthcare workers, and additional clarification from medical and religious sources, while moral values and social responsibility influenced most participants’ attitudes toward vaccination. The integrity of healthcare workers was also considered important, particularly regarding the refusal to issue vaccination certificates without administration. This study concludes that pilgrims’ vaccination experiences reflect an interplay of existential meaning, knowledge formation, and moral values, with nurses playing a central role through holistic education that is sensitive to religious values and grounded in professional ethics.
