Abstract

The study of housing typology in the residential area of the Kauman Parakan community is a research that contains a description of the typology of the typical housing of the Kauman Parakan community. The Kauman community is widespread in several parts of Java Island, one of which is in Temanggung Regency, precisely in Parakan District. The typology of the dwelling itself includes several aspects contained in a dwelling or residence, including spatial systems related to the plan, model systems related to appearance, and physical systems related to materials. The purpose of this study is to identify the distinctive elements found in the dwellings of the Kauman community, Parakan. The research method used is a qualitative-descriptive method, where data is taken from research directly by referring to related literature sources. Based on the results of the analysis that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the typology of housing in Kauman, Parakan is influenced by the daily activities of the owner and the number of users. Abstract

Stunting is a chronic problem of child growth and development due to lack of or poor nutrition for a certain period of time (Nur, Setyowati, & Rosemary, 2020). Children have the basic rights of citizens to fulfill their welfare. Therefore, this phenomenon must be considered because it affects the development of generations who will become the nation's successors (Nur, Setyowati, & Rosemary, 2020). Not only the role of the mother in the household, a joint effort to achieve stunting prevention is through the Village Nutrition House program. To create a Village Nutrition House for users, especially children, it is not only necessary to provide a building. The role of architecture is necessary and can influence child psychology. If the child's psychology is good, then the child gets adequate nutrition and nutrition into the body. The author uses qualitative research methods with data obtained through observational studies, interviews and literature studies. The data is processed to become criteria and material for consideration in the construction of ideas to obtain a design strategy for the Village Nutrition House, especially one that is child-friendly. The research location is at the Gampong Lamlagang Nutrition House which is a Pilot Project model for the implementation of the Nutrition Rumah in Banda Aceh City. With this design strategy it is hoped that it can add stimulation to children and children get a pleasant eating experience so that nutrition in children can be fulfilled.

Abstract

The development of Medan City is challenged by unplanned growth that triggers the phenomenon of urban sprawl, especially in the commercial area corridor of Jalan Pattimura. The change of residential functions into commercial areas triggers various problems such as congestion, decreased quality of the visual environment, crowding, and degradation of the vitality of the area. This study aims to formulate a humanist pedestrian arrangement model in the corridor with a smart growth approach and community participation as a local force (genius loci). This research prioritizes the concept of linkage, both visually, structurally, and collectively, in redesigning pedestrian space. By promoting local wisdom as the basis for revitalization, the results of this study are expected to guide public policy based on community development in the management of sustainable commercial areas in Medan City. Abstract

Biophilic Design is an architectural approach that seeks to restore and strengthen the human connection with nature as a means to enhance the physical and psychological well-being of building occupants. Over the past two decades, this concept has gained substantial attention across academic disciplines and professional practices worldwide. However, despite its growing prominence, there remains a lack of structured research methodologies that systematically explore the application of Biophilic Design principles across diverse architectural contexts. This study addresses that gap by proposing a systematic protocol for conducting case study research grounded in the theoretical framework of Biophilic Design. The aim is to provide clear and replicable methodological guidance for investigating how nature-based design strategies can support contextual and regenerative practices in architecture, including but not limited to vernacular or traditional environments. The research method employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of peer-reviewed publications from reputable databases including Scopus, Web of Science (ESCI), and DOAJ, focusing on studies published between 2019 and 2024. Based on the synthesis of the selected literature, the study formulates a seven-stage protocol for case study research. These stages include case selection, data collection techniques such as field observation and in-depth interviews, and thematic analysis for qualitative data interpretation. The findings highlight the necessity of involving key stakeholders—such as cultural experts, historians, and anthropologists—throughout the research process to ensure accurate interpretation of local ecological and cultural values. This protocol is expected to serve as a methodological reference for researchers and practitioners seeking to implement Biophilic Design in a way that is context-sensitive, socially and ecologically regenerative, and rooted in local wisdom.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between kinetic aspects in urban space through a systematic literature review (SLR). The study will explore the evolving discourse around the urban design framework. Utilizing the PRISMA protocol and conducting bibliometric analysis with tools such as Publish or Perish and VOSviewer, the study analyzes 97 articles indexed in Scopus to identify thematic clusters, keyword trends, and geographic focus areas. The results show that cinematic techniques provide valuable insights into spatial representation, visual perception, and movement as key urban design components. The analysis also reveals geographic disparities: European studies emphasize memory and perception, while Asian studies highlight cinematic urban activism. The study contributes to urban design by proposing a cinematic method to understand spatial narratives and human experiences in urban environments. The findings encourage further exploration of visual-spatial storytelling to enhance urban design practice through an interdisciplinary perspective.

Abstract

Jakarta’s urban transformation has brought both opportunity and disruption, particularly for communities affected by eviction and resettlement. Kampung Kunir, once demolished under a flood mitigation policy, has been reimagined through the Kampung Susun Kunir project—a vertical housing initiative that not only restores shelter but repositions the community within the city’s heritage landscape. This study explores how tourism-sensitive architectural design can serve as a strategy for community resilience in post-eviction contexts. Using a qualitative methodology that includes literature analysis, field observation, and in-depth interviews with residents and stakeholders, this research examines four key elements: site placement, attraction-oriented design, social empowerment, and tourism-induced economic opportunities. The findings reveal that strategic design choices have allowed Kampung Susun Kunir to reclaim its cultural identity, foster community pride, and activate new tourism-driven economies. However, full potential remains untapped without integrated tourism pathways and long-term programming. This paper argues that tourism-informed architectural practices—when coupled with community participation—can contribute significantly to urban resilience, cultural continuity, and inclusive redevelopment in heritage-rich cities.
