Abstract

Security is one of the main focuses of countries in the world. In achieving this, many countries cooperate or join alliances. South Korea has long joined the United States alliance because North Korea has weapons of destruction, which is the biggest threat to South Korea. One of the commitments the United States gives to its allies is to protect defence and security. When North Korea conducted its fourth nuclear test in January 2016, South Korea and the United States worked together to build the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) in Seongju, South Korea. This research analyzes what interests South Korea wants to achieve in security cooperation with the United States. The theory of national interest and the concept of security dilemma is used to answer this problem. This research was arranged systematically using qualitative research methods. The research results show that South Korea's interests in THAAD development cooperation with the United States include 1)strengthening alliances with the United States, 2)North Korea's fourth nuclear test, which led to an imbalance of military power, and 3)the emergence of China as a threat to South Korea.

Abstract

The emergence of social media is a phenomenon in the digital world that’s relevant to be adopted appropriately by public organizations such as the government. The government's use of social media deliberately encourages improving good governance practices through e-government platforms, especially transparency and public participation. Moreover, data from social media can be helpful in the input of the policymaking process. On the other hand, social media is just a tool that provides features that allow users to interact in a two-way and real-time manner. However, testing the data requires further analysis to obtain causality between the intended use and the input data acquired to obtain expected results. By conducting a literature review method, this study reviews how public organizations can adopt social media to support the policymaking processes. In addition, this study also notes the potential gaps and risks in using social media for public organizations to make policies.

Abstract

The increasing corruption has made Indonesia one of the countries in the red category (corrupt) globally. Corruption is an act to enrich oneself, other people, or corporations by violating the law or abusing authority the focus of this research is on the causes of fraud star corruption. The characteristics of corruption in Indonesia are very complex, abuse of power or authority, and not carried out with trust. Involving various elements from the government/private sector is the cause of fraud star corruption, this occurs in State/Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMN/D) and public officials from the center to the regions. This study discusses one of the contributions in fighting corruption in Indonesia, using a corruption detection model. To be free from the corruption epidemic in Indonesia, the introduction of the HU model consists of the variables lack of integrity (lack of integrity), opportunity (opportunity), pressure (pressure), rationalization (rationalization), and capability (capability) to give hope and get answers. The HU model proves that even the amount of pressure, the number of opportunities, the ease of justification, as well as a high position and authority will not encourage corruption if there is strong integrity. The result shows that the loss of integrity is the most dominant cause of people committing corruption. This study is also able to categorize agencies that are indicated as being corrupt (red), between indicated and not indicated (grey), and not indicated (green).

Abstract

There is an assumption that the position of women is lower than that of men or is under the authority and will of men. Such a male-female relationship has been institutionalized within the patriarchal family structure and supported by economic and political institutions and by belief systems, including religious systems, which make such relationships seem natural, morally just and sacred in the view of marriage law in Indonesia, women in such an economic way are placed highly dependent on the man who becomes her husband.  Cultural values that justify the subordinate position of women are actually confirmed in legislation, for example the Marriage Law of 1974 which firmly distinguishes the roles and positions between husband and wife. Thelaw is not adequate.  Legal aspects, in the form of legal substance (content of law), law enforcement officials (structure of law), as well as legal culture in society (culture of law) turned out to be impartial to the interests of women, especially in matters of violence. The Criminal Code, which is a reference for making legal decisions, is felt to be no longer adequate to cover the various realities of violence that occur in society.  Domestic Violence (domestic violence) experienced by a wife is very difficult to come to the fore and be reported, due to the pressure factor from her opponent. It requires an understanding of the involvement of other parties to participate in providing a way out of domestic violence pressure.
