Abstract

DiarySumsel is a digital library application developed by PT. Woolu Aksara Maya (Aksaramaya) in collaboration with the National Library Agency of South Sumatra Province. This study aims to evaluate the application's usability using the Usability Testing method through task scenarios and the System Usability Scale (SUS) questionnaire. The results show a learnability score of 95% (good category), efficiency of 0.084 goals/second (highly efficient), and strong memorability based on a balanced average of clicks and steps. The error rate was only 4% (low), and the satisfaction score reached 69, which is above the average benchmark. Overall, DiarySumsel is considered to have good usability and effectively supports users in accessing digital library services.

Abstract

This research aims to design Internet of Things (IoT) based medical devices that can monitor body temperature, heart rate and oxygen saturation. The problem faced is the lack of real-time health monitoring tools that are integrated with digital systems, especially during the pandemic. As a solution, this tool utilizes the MLX90614 sensor to measure body temperature, the MAX30100 sensor for heart rate and oxygen saturation, and the ESP8266 microcontroller to connect the device to a Wi-Fi network. The method used is system development using the Waterfall model, starting from needs analysis, design, implementation, to testing. A threshold algorithm is applied to detect abnormal values in sensor data, which is then sent to the server and displayed via a web interface. Test results show that this tool can monitor health conditions accurately and in real-time. Data on body temperature, heart rate and oxygen saturation are stored in a database and displayed via the web with a fast response. This tool is expected to help users in monitoring health more efficiently and easily to use.

Abstract

The pet adoption application aims to simplify and speed up the animal adoption process by connecting potential adopters with adoption service providers. This research aims to design and analyze business processes in this application using the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) approach. BPMN is used to visualize workflows in a structured manner and identify potential inefficiencies and Opportunities for improvement in existing systems. The research process involved collecting data through interviews, observations, and analysis of documentation from animal adoption organizations and potential adopters. BPMN modeling is carried out to describe business processes in two conditions: before and after application implementation. Analysis is carried out to evaluate changes in efficiency, effectiveness and user experience after the system is implemented. The research results show that this application is able to simplify the adoption process by reducing the number of manual steps, speeding up adoption application processing, and increasing user engagement. In addition, recommendations for improvements are provided to further improve integration between processes and minimize the potential for operational errors. This research concludes that the BPMN approach is effective in designing and analyzing pet adoption application business processes. These findings contribute to the development of similar applications by providing guidance for creating workflows that are efficient, standardized, and responsive to user needs.

Abstract

Monitoring radon gas concentrations in various environments, such as residential areas, buildings, caves, and mining sites, is crucial to minimizing health risks associated with radon exposure exceeding the 100 Bq/m³ threshold set by the World Health Organization (WHO). Additionally, anomalies in radon concentration in fault zones are often considered precursors to seismic activity. Therefore, this study develops a real-time Internet of Things (IoT)-based radon gas monitoring system using a cost-effective approach. The system utilizes a ZnS(Ag)-based scintillation detector combined with a Photo Multiplier Tube (PMT) model H10492-001 (Hamamatsu, Japan). Calibration results at the Geological Resource Research Center – BRIN Bandung indicate that the detector has an average efficiency of 79.8%. The cloud-based monitoring system is developed using PHP 8.0 and MySQL 10.5, with performance evaluation conducted through an API using the GET method via the cURL application. Testing with various intervals and iterations shows that the system achieves 99% data reception and recording efficiency compared to the data sent by the test device. Performance testing using Chrome DevTools indicates a response time ranging from 32–140 ms, demonstrating that the system responds quickly and efficiently handles user requests. The system includes an early warning mechanism that activates when sensor data exceeds a predefined threshold, featuring a red indicator on the dashboard, an alarm sound, and automatic notifications to a Telegram bot. Responsiveness testing confirms that the dashboard display adapts optimally to various screen sizes, ensuring accessibility across multiple devices. From a cybersecurity perspective, the system implements HTTPS protocols and has received an A rating from www.ssllabs.com. It also employs BCrypt encryption with a 184-bit hash length for password protection.

Abstract

Indonesia ranks fourth globally in food waste generation, addressing this significant issue, this paper explores the integration of blockchain technology with SHA-256 hashing to enhance food waste management practices in the restaurant industry. The proposed system leverages the immutable and transparent nature of blockchain to ensure accurate tracking, enhanced transparency, and accountability throughout the food waste lifecycle. By utilizing smart contracts, the system automates compliance and enforces waste management protocols, leading to more efficient operations and significant reductions in food waste. Empirical evaluations in real-world settings suggest that this blockchain-driven approach not only promotes sustainability but also provides economic benefits by optimizing resource utilization and reducing operational costs. Further research is recommended to address scalability, cost implications, and data privacy concerns to ensure the system's broader applicability and effectiveness.

Abstract

 The study of this study is to evaluate the user experience of the Siska application used at Bina Darma University by utilizing the User Experience Questionnaire (UEQ) instrument.. Given the rapid development of information technology, the Siska application is expected to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in academic data management. This research involves active students as respondents, measured through six UEQ aspects: Attractiveness, Perspicuity, Efficiency, Dependability, Stimulation, and Novelty. The analysis results show that more than 80% of students are satisfied with the Siska application, reflecting its good performance in meeting user expectations. However, some aspects still require improvement, particularly in terms of clarity and ease of use. This study recommends enhancing application features and providing regular user education to support better understanding. Thus, the Siska application can continue to evolve to meet user needs and improve the quality of academic services at Bina Darma University.

Abstract

The mobile application-based student progress recording application at RA Mutiara is a tool that can assist in managing student attendance and assessments, making academic data management easier. With this application, data processing becomes organized and easily accessible, the application can only be accessed by teachers. In designing the mobile application-based student progress recording application, we utilize QR Code technology as a tool to assist in student attendance and assessments. The application development is carried out using the waterfall method, which consists of five stages: needs analysis, application design, application development, and application testing. The software used in building this application includes AppSheet, Draw.io, Spreadsheet, and Google Chrome. In system testing, the method used is Black Box Testing. Based on the research results, a mobile application-based student progress recording application has been developed at RA Mutiara. From the results of the system testing questionnaire, data was obtained showing that 84.6% of the 3 users stated that the system is effective and suitable for implementation at RA Mutiara.

Abstract

The Songket PaSH website is a Palembang-based MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) platform that offers a variety of traditional handcrafted products, such as songket fabric, jumputan, and Palembang batik. Since its implementation, the website administrators have not conducted an in-depth analysis of user experience and interaction quality—whether from users who complete transactions or those who only browse. To maintain sustainable business-to-business (B2B) relationships and prevent communication breakdowns, an evaluation of the Songket PaSH website’s quality is necessary. This study aims to evaluate the website’s quality using a descriptive quantitative method with the Webqual approach. The Webqual method includes three main variables: Usability, Information Quality, and Service Interaction Quality, which collectively provide a comprehensive overview of a website’s quality. The results indicate that all three aspects fall into the "Good" category, with an overall average score of 73.2% based on the Likert scale interpretation. Nevertheless, several indicators still require improvement according to the evaluation priorities identified in the study.

Abstract

Along with the development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology, monitoring the condition of bridge infrastructure can be done in real-time to improve the safety and durability of construction. This study aims to design and implement an IoT-based bridge vibration monitoring system using MPU6050 and SW-420 sensors connected to ESP32. This system is designed to detect vibration changes that can indicate potential damage to the bridge structure. The research method used is an experimental and quantitative method, by testing the tool on iron and concrete bridges. Data obtained from the sensor will be sent to a local MySQL-based server and displayed in graphical form via a PHP-based web interface. The test results show that the system can detect vibration variations according to changes in vehicle load, where heavier loads produce more significant fluctuations in the acceleration values of the X, Y, and Z axes. With this system, it is expected that bridge condition monitoring can be carried out more efficiently and accurately, so that managers can take preventive measures before more severe damage occurs. The results of this study can be a reference in the development of further bridge monitoring systems and the application of IoT technology in the infrastructure sector.

Abstract

Digital security has become a major challenge in the metaverse, an interactive virtual space that integrates augmented reality and virtual reality. This study develops a machine learning-based Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS) to enhance security reliability within the metaverse. K-Means and Apriori algorithms are applied to optimize rules in the Snort IDS, enabling more accurate detection of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) and Malware Command and Control (CNC) attacks. The results show that rule optimization using machine learning increases detection accuracy for DDoS attacks from 60% to 75% and for CNC attacks from 35% to 40%. Furthermore, this approach successfully reduces the false positive rate. The implementation of the optimized NIDS provides a significant contribution to securing activities in the metaverse, ensuring a safer and more reliable virtual environment.
