Abstract

This study aims to identify the characteristics of geriatric patients, the types of medication administered, and evaluate the incidence of Potentially Inappropriate Medication (PIM) based on the 2023 Beers Criteria at Suryakencana Pharmacy in Sukabumi City. The study used a retrospective descriptive observational design with a quantitative approach. Data were obtained from prescriptions and medical records of geriatric patients who filled the medication between December 2024 and June 2025. Analysis was performed by matching the prescribed medication with the criteria in the 2023 Beers Criteria. A total of 100 patients were included in the study sample, with the majority aged 60–74 years (73.74%) and female (62%). Most patients received ≤5 types of medication (95%). The most common diagnoses came from the nervous system disease group, with the dominant comorbidities being hypertension and diabetes mellitus. The most common medications included in the Beers Criteria category were non-selective NSAIDs such as diclofenac (55.55%) and the anticonvulsant gabapentin (15.66%). PIM incidents were found primarily in the categories of "drugs to avoid" (47.09%) and "use with caution" (2.90%). The study's conclusion confirms that the high incidence of PIM in geriatric patients indicates the need for consistent application of the Beers Criteria in pharmaceutical care practices to improve therapeutic safety in the elderly. Keywords: Beers Criteria, Geriatri, Potentially Inappropriate Medication (PIM).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between insomnia and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly at the Tresna Werdha X Social Home in South Jakarta. This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional analytical design that aimed to determine the relationship between two variables. The study population was all elderly people living at the Tresna Werdha X Social Home in South Jakarta with a total of 288 people. Data were collected using the Insomnia Rating Scale (IRS) questionnaire that had been translated into Indonesian by the Jakarta Biological Psychiatry Study Group (KSBPJ-IRS). The results showed a significance value of p < 0.001 (α = 0.05), which means there is a significant relationship between insomnia and blood pressure. The Chi-Square test value of 35.596 with degrees of freedom (df) = 1 strengthens the existence of a very strong relationship between the two variables. Thus, this study concludes that there is a significant relationship between insomnia and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly at the Tresna Werdha X Social Home in South Jakarta. Keywords: Elderly, Hypertension, Insomnia.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the implementation of Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) combined with demonstration and the improvement of fine motor skills through nature-based beading activities. The study used a two-cycle classroom action research design, with three meetings in each cycle and the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Four children aged 5-6 years were selected from 14 children in Class B2 at Wana Kencana State Kindergarten based on an initial pedagogical identification. Data were collected through observations of six fine motor indicators and documentation and were analyzed descriptively and comparatively. The findings showed that classical mastery increased from 0% at baseline to 50% in Cycle I and 75% in Cycle II. By Cycle II, all indicators had reached 75% mastery. Slower and more systematic demonstrations, materials with larger holes and softer textures, simple pattern practice, and individualized scaffolding helped the children work more accurately, flexibly, persistently, and independently. The study concludes that integrating CTL, demonstration, adapted natural materials, and individualized assistance can improve fine motor learning in the investigated classroom context. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nurse burnout and patient safety culture. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study involved 105 nurses selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated and reliable questionnaires measuring burnout and patient safety culture. Data analysis was performed using IBM SPSS through descriptive statistics, normality testing of unstandardized residuals, simple linear regression, and coefficient of determination analysis. The findings showed that nurse burnout had a significant negative relationship with patient safety culture (B = -0.473; β = -0.648; t = -8.637; p < 0.001). The regression equation was Y = 121.384 - 0.473X, while the coefficient of determination (R² = 0.420) indicated that burnout explained 42.0% of the variance in patient safety culture. It can be concluded that higher nurse burnout scores are associated with lower patient safety culture scores. These findings highlight the importance of addressing nurse burnout as part of hospital management efforts to strengthen patient safety culture and improve the quality of healthcare services. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze differences in blood sugar control in patients with diabetes mellitus based on the type of sweetener consumed, namely palm sugar and refined sugar. The study used a comparative analytical observational method with a cross-sectional approach. Respondents in this study were patients with diabetes mellitus who consumed palm sugar or refined sugar as their primary sweetener. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires and a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), as well as measurements of fasting blood sugar (FBS) and two-hour postprandial blood sugar (2-hour postprandial blood sugar) using a glucometer. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the independent t-test or Mann–Whitney U test according to the data distribution, with a 95% significance level. The results showed that respondents who consumed palm sugar had lower average fasting blood sugar and two-hour postprandial blood sugar levels than those who consumed refined sugar. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between the type of sweetener consumed and blood sugar control (p < 0.05). It was concluded that palm sugar consumption is associated with better blood sugar control compared to refined sugar consumption in people with diabetes mellitus. Palm sugar has the potential to be a better natural sweetener alternative, but its use still requires careful consideration of consumption amounts and the principles of a balanced diabetes diet. Keywords: Blood Sugar Control, Diabetes, Family, Palm Sugar.

Abstract

This systematic literature review aims to synthesize evidence regarding the role of ethical nursing practices in electronic documentation and their impact on enhancing the quality of nursing care. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 protocol was applied. Databases searched included PubMed, CINAHL, Scopus, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library. Inclusion criteria covered peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2025 that addressed the ethical dimensions of electronic nursing documentation and care quality outcomes. Of the 1,285 records initially identified, 20 studies met the inclusion criteria. Four key thematic areas emerged: (1) data privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent; (2) documentation accuracy, integrity, and accountability; (3) ethical barriers and facilitators in Nursing Information System (NIS) implementation; and (4) the relationship between ethical documentation and patient safety outcomes. In conclusion, ethical electronic nursing documentation is a crucial determinant of nursing care quality. Institutional policies, ongoing ethics education, and robust Nursing Information System (NIS) design are essential to bridging ethical gaps in clinical settings. Keywords: Electronic Documentation, Electronic Health Records, Nursing Ethics, Nursing Information Systems, Nursing Quality Of Care, Patient Privacy, PRISMA, Systematic Review.
