Journal of Health and Behavioral Science
Focus and Scope Journal of Health and Behavioral Science (JHBS) is an open-access journal, publishes research from various topics in psychology. We dedicated ourselves in developing psychology and behavioral sciences in the world, especially in the areas of: Health Psychology Clinical Psychology Psychology of Education Social and Community Psychology Developmental Psychology Cognitive Psychology Health Promotion and Community Health JHBS publishes Regular Empirical Articles, Literature Reviews (e.g. scoping review, systematic review), Meta-analyses and Special Sections with a particular thematic focus. Articles published in JHBS were selected through a blind review process conducted by JHBS editors and reviewers. This process considers several factors such as the relevance of the article and its contribution to the development of psychological and professional practices and compliance with the requirements of the published article. Editors and reviewers provide constructive evaluations and suggestions for writers.

<![CDATA[Online survey is considered as an effective means to collect research data. The use of the internet benefits researchers to get large sample sizes in almost unlimited reach. Unfortunately, the editing and coding of the results of the current survey is often constrained by outcomes that are still in the form of word responses. We introduce Simple Recoder (SRc) to make it easier for researchers to provide codes on response responses, especially on the results of online surveys. This tool will make it easier for researchers and students to organize data from online survey results.]]>

<![CDATA[This research is aimed at examining coping stres strategies for single parent mother after separation from their husband who were leaving for work outside of the region. The methodology applies a qualitative research with the phenomenology approach. The participants during the interview were single parents mothers with charaterictics: a) they have been separated from their husband who work outside of the region, b) they age are in their fourties-fifties, c) they live in Oenaunu village. Methods of data analysis consisted of analysis before fieldresearch and analysis during the field research using Miles and Huberman model. The result showed that coping stres strategies used by participans were emotional focused coping and problem focused coping. The first and third partisipan tend to use emotional focused coping and problem focused coping as their coping strategy, while the second participant tends to use emotional focused coping and problem focused coping in her case.]]>

<![CDATA[Competent teacher can improve their abilities in managing classroom according to their students’ needs. Classroom management in early childhood education and development (ECED) post really depends on the teacher. This article aims to understand classroom management as tools of playing and studying for children in kindergarten. This study used qualitative descriptibe approach and triangulation was used to ensure the data quality. Between for class observed, class B1 was identified as the most ideal. Good ventilation and lighting, neat placement of equipments and class tools, not blocking air circulation, according to area and not blocking children play zone, also neat class decoration and clean and comfort class describe this overall class management quality.]]>

<![CDATA[Autistic is a very complex developmental disorder in children, which begins to appear before the age of three years. Autistic children have certain food diet so that a mother must have good knowledge about the right foods choices for the children. The increasing of knowledge can be done by various ways, one of them is using poster media. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using diet intervention poster media for autistic children to increase the knowledge of mothers in SBLN Pembina Kupang in 2019 year. This study uses One Group Pretest Postest Design and descriptive analysis method. The population are all mothers who have autistic children especialy 16 mothers as a sample. The results shows that using poster media is effective in order to increase mothers knowledge about diet intervention of autistic children (This can be seen from the mean value of the pretest that is 64.38 to 83.75 (it shows that there is an increasing amount 19.37 from early knowledge).]]>

<![CDATA[AIDS is a collection of symptoms and infections or syndromes that arise due to damage to the human immune system due to a viral infection. The date from the Kupang City AIDS Commission where HIV cases reached 937 people year 2017, while AIDS cases amounted to 417 people. The purpose of this research is to find out the description of the knowledge of ODHA families towards people infected with HIV and AIDS and to know the description of the stigma of ODHA families towards people infected with HIV and AIDS. This type of research is quantitative descriptive research. The population in this study were 122 families of HIV and AIDS infected with AIDS and all of them were taken as samples using inclusion criteria. Data collection was done by interview. It is recommended for ODHA should not stay away or even discriminate against these family members, they should get support from the family and feel welcome from the family that created it.]]>

<![CDATA[The phenomenon of veiled women in NTT, especially in the Kupang City area itself, is an increase in wearing. This can be seen from the emergence of Islamic women's associations that have several members who wear the veil as found in Al-Wahdah Islamiyah in the city of Kupang. In social life, veiled women often get negative responses as they are considered. The purpose of this study is to find out and describe the self-concept of women who are veiled in Al-Wahdah Islamiyah, Kupang City. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of phenomenological research. Participants in this study were five veiled women selected using the purposive sampling method. The method of data collection is done by the method of observation and in-depth interviews. Data validity test is done using the source triangulation method. The analysis technique uses the analysis technique of Miles and Huberman. The results showed that in the aspect of personal self-concept, social self concept, the ideal self concept of the five participants showed a good response. Such as dress code, behave in a social environment and have good desires for themselves and those around them.]]>

<![CDATA[This research is a correlation analysis with quantitative approach. The study aims to discribe the assosiation of level relationship between self-esteem and smoking behavior of students in SMK Negeri 2 Soe. Samples were male students of SMK Negeri 2 Soe numbering 70 students. Data was collected by using a scale of self-esteem and smoking behavior questionnaire and then use computer programs for data analysis. Hypothesis testing using Pearson produck moment correlation test to see the correlation between the two variables. The results show the value of the correlation coefficient of -0.333 with a significance value (p) of 0.005 which means Ha accepted that there is a relationship between self-esteem and smoking behavior of students in State Vocational High School 2 Soe.]]>

<![CDATA[This research aims to determine the relationship between psychological and demographic factors, which are dispositional optimism, and self-efficacy are the psychological factors, meanwhile home, sex and ethnicity as the demographic factors of quality of life in the older adults. The major hypothesis of this research proposed that there are positive relationship from both psychological factors and demographic factors to the quality of life in older adults. This study involved 53 older adult peoples. The result of multiple regression analysis shows that there is a positive relationship from all five variables to the quality of life in older adults as big as 76,5% (Adjusted R2= 0,765). This result means that both the psychological and demographic factors do have effective contributions to the quality of life in older adult people. The results of t-tests are also discussed.]]>

<![CDATA[School is essential during the process of students individual growing. School well-being important to be paid attention to in order to provide comfort for students. A research proves that one student will be comfortable getting surrounded by friendly teachers and friends who bring positive influence at school. Students of school with unfriendly environment behave negatively by doing things like playing truant, fighting with other students, smoking, and vandalism which are known as student’s delinquencies. This research aims to observe the relationship of school well-being with juvenile delinquencies by students in SMKN 2 Kota Kupang. This is a quantitative research used 330 students. The result proves that there is a significant negative relationship between the two variables which is -0.255 with the significance value of 0.000. The result also shows that there is a significant negative relationship among all of the aspects of school well-being with the delinquency.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to find the level of relationship of teacher's social support with self regulated learning of SMP Abdi Kasih Bangsa Kupang students. 58 students of SMP Abdi Kasih Bangsa Kupang was participated. Self regulated learning scale and teacher social support scale was used to collect data. Pearson correlation product moment was used to see the correlation between the two variables. The results showed that the correlation coefficient (rxy) was 0.424 with a significance value (p) of 0.001 which means there is a relationship between teacher social support and self-regulated learning.]]>
