Abstract

Various problems carried out by children are part of the actions that result in children being entangled in legal problems, with different legal problems considered minor problems, but according to the laws and regulations constitute a criminal act. This raises various questions about whether the juvenile criminal justice system can deal with this problem effectively, how youth involved in crime should be treated, and how aspects of rehabilitation and reintegration within this system play an important role in building a better future for children. These research methods according to their types can be divided into two, namely normative legal research and empirical legal research. Empirical legal research was carried out using interviews in the field, namely by carrying out it at the Manokwari Class I correctional center to know and obtain information from parties related to the research theme being carried out. We also studied cases of children in conflict with the law, which were successfully resolved outside of legal channels through a restorative justice diversion approach. The research location selection was carried out in the West Papua area based on the reason that Manokwari is one of the cities with high levels of child crime in conflict with the law is significant and relatively increasing. The results of the research show that there are still many children who do not understand the laws that result in criminal acts, which are regulated in the law on the juvenile criminal justice system, implementing legal awareness outreach activities for school children and providing guidance and increasing understanding of the law for children in the Manokwari City area. Abstract

The fulfillment of the rights of mothers and children to breastfeed in correctional institutions is a crucial issue within the context of human rights and child welfare. This research aims to identify the challenges, policies, and practices that influence these rights, as well as their impact on the well-being of mothers and children involved in such situations. This study adopts a juridical-empirical research approach, where data is gathered through a combination of field research and literature review. Field research involves interviews with informants and respondents to collect primary data, while the literature review involves the analysis of books, literature, theories, and relevant legislation. Furthermore, this research identifies best practices and recommendations to enhance the fulfillment of the rights of mothers and children to breastfeed in correctional institutions. These recommendations encompass facility improvements, staff training, psychosocial support, and the formulation of more inclusive policies focusing on the well-being of mothers and children. The research findings also indicate that the fulfillment of these rights in correctional institutions is not yet optimal, as there are situations where mothers must bring their children to reside within these facilities. Additionally, government authorities and prison officers face various obstacles that hinder their efforts to address these issues effectively during implementation. Abstract

This study examines the relationship between male inmates' self-acceptance and anxiety, particularly in cases of violent theft at Class II A Subang Correctional Institution. Data were collected through surveys and statistical analysis. The results showed that most of the prisoners in the sample had low levels of self-acceptance in several dimensions, including self-values and standards, taking responsibility for actions, accepting criticism and suggestions, and not blaming oneself. Data analysis also revealed a correlation between low self-acceptance and anxiety, particularly in cases of violent theft. In addition, prisoners about to be released often experience anxiety related to social stigma that can affect their mental health. With a focus on feelings of low self-esteem and concerns about the future, prisoners often face challenges in reintegrating into society. This research provides an understanding of the characteristics of prisoners, such as age, education, employment, and marital status, which may influence their criminal behavior.
