Abstract

Public relations management plays a strategic role in building positive relationships between institutions and stakeholders, such as the community, media, and government. This research was conducted to understand how public relations management is implemented at Slawi Correctional Facility and how concrete steps in communication can affect the image of the institution. This article uses a descriptive qualitative approach in the research and discussion. The results show that the public relations team of Slawi Correctional Facility has made real efforts in designing and implementing public relations management strategies. The results show that Slawi Correctional Facility is committed to planning an effective communication strategy. They actively use various media channels, including mass media and social media, to communicate positive programs and information to the community. Obstacles such as the lack of adequate public relations infrastructure, lack of teamwork, and overlapping tasks are challenges faced. However, Slawi prison has shown initiative in overcoming these obstacles. Collaboration within the public relations team and good internal communication among team members are also important factors in the success of communication efforts. In addition, a data-driven approach is also used to measure community satisfaction with the programs and services provided by Lapas Slawi. Abstract

Correctional Officers are coaches and mentors at the Correctional UPT. One example is the correctional officers at LPKA who have the task of developing, supervising, guiding and maintaining the security and safety of the inmates to improve and develop the students' attitudes and knowledge in a directed and regular manner to make them good and useful people so they can live in society. This research aims to explore the role of officers in efforts to minimize friction between assisted children who are involved in criminal acts, especially brawls between silat schools, at the Blitar Class I Children's Special Development Institute. Conflicts between students, especially those from silat schools, can become a serious problem threatening security and order within the LPKA environment. In carrying out this role officers use individual and group methods. Officers can apply several examples of methods, including spiritual, intellectual, and skills development methods for increased cooperation between the LPKA and the silat schools operating within it. This collaboration can help in monitoring and controlling students involved in brawls. Apart from that, providing training and coaching by officers to assist children engaged in silat schools can be a proactive step to reduce potential conflicts and friction that may still occur within due to the aftermath of the incident. This article presents a comprehensive review of the correctionalization of elderly prisoners, delving into the problems they face and the solutions that can be implemented to improve their social inclusion and quality of life. By understanding these challenges and taking appropriate action, we can help elderly prisoners lead more meaningful lives, even within the harsh prison environment. Abstract

This article analyzes the challenges and security issues that arise in the management of terrorist prisoners in Indonesia, focusing on experiences in correctional institutions. Terrorism is a global threat that requires special attention in the correctional context, as terrorist prisoners have the potential to maintain and develop radicalization networks within prisons. In Indonesia, which has experienced a series of terrorist attacks, efforts to manage terrorist prisoners require a very careful and effective approach. This article outlines four main subtopics focusing on (1) radicalization in prison, (2) security management, and (3) de-radicalization and rehabilitation programs. By detailing the issues and challenges in each of these aspects, this research provides an in-depth insight into the complex dynamics involved in dealing with terrorist inmates in Indonesian prisons. The results can be an important source of information for policymakers, law enforcement, and researchers who seek to understand, prevent, and address the growing threat of terrorism within the correctional system. Abstract

This research explores the implementation of rehabilitation programs for disabled drug offenders in Indonesian penitentiary institutions, with a primary focus on the theory of inmate rehabilitation. The study reveals that these institutions provide a comprehensive range of training, encompassing skill development, religious engagement, and behavior rehabilitation. The theory of inmate rehabilitation serves as a vital framework in this process, facilitating positive behavioral transformation and preparing disabled inmates for reintegration into society. Nevertheless, various hindrances, such as staffing imbalances, resource limitations, and inadequate skill development instructors, were identified. Despite these challenges, disabled inmates reported positive outcomes resulting from these drug rehabilitation programs. They expressed readiness to reintegrate into society following their incarceration. These findings underscore the significance of rehabilitation within the criminal justice system, especially for disabled drug offenders. This research serves as a guide for enhancing and expanding drug rehabilitation programs within penitentiary institutions, with the ultimate aim of helping inmates become more productive members of society. Abstract

This research explores the efforts of deradicalization among terrorist inmates in Indonesian correctional institutions. Based on deradicalization theories, the study highlights various steps taken to reduce the influence of extremism and radicalism among these inmates. Identification, evaluation, and isolation of terrorist inmates are initial stages in the deradicalization process aimed at understanding their motivations and behaviors. The deradicalization program includes education, counseling, skill training, and preparation for post-release social reintegration. Post-release monitoring is also conducted to ensure their non-involvement in terrorist activities. These efforts are grounded in legal principles and statutory regulations governing correctional institutions and counter-terrorism measures. This study provides profound insights into deradicalization practices within correctional institutions, which are essential elements in counterterrorism and the reintegration of terrorist inmates into society. It emphasizes understanding, rehabilitation, and the reduction of radicalism and underscores a research-based approach, along with consultation with experienced experts in developing deradicalization programs. Abstract

Overcapacity in prisons often occurs among the elderly from 2019 to 2022. This research aims to address the problem of overcapacity for elderly prisoners in correctional institutions. The method in this research uses a qualitative approach through literature studies. The results of the research show that the overcapacity that occurs every year has increased in prison residents. It is known that prisoners increase every year. The causes of prison overcapacity are pre-trial detention, criminal sanctions policies for drug cases, and lack of access for convicts to advocates and others. An elderly person still has the rights and obligations of an Indonesian citizen. The aspects that play a role are health and medical care, mental welfare, special treatment, judicial processes, rehabilitation and care, and legal protection. The legal system considers the special needs of elderly prisoners, for example in terms of health, mental well-being, and human rights. One way is restorative justice where imprisonment is not only a means of punishment but also a place for training law violators in Indonesia. Keywords: Elderly; Prisoner; Overcapacity

Abstract

Emotional regulation is the ability to control and adjust emotions that arise and adjust them to an appropriate level of intensity to achieve a goal. Prisoners will live a life that is different from their previous life, including loss of relationships with opponents, loss of the right to own goods, and loss of a sense of security. Qualitative research is a research process that produces descriptive data about people through written or oral speech and observable behavior. Prisoners can recognize, feel and know the emotions they experience when emotions arise such as sadness, anger, joy, etc. Prisoners can know how to tolerate feelings of frustration when they arise. Prisoners can have a responsible nature for whatever they do and also always be optimistic in everything. The results of emotional regulation in religious coping in prisoners have been implemented well, prisoners have made changes in their responses by implementing praying, dhikr, and reading the Koran and taking part in physical training as a way to reduce the negative emotions he experiences. Abstract

Indonesia as a State of Law with Positive Law, namely the Criminal Code still imposes criminal sanctions in the form of the death penalty. In essence, the death penalty is a punishment by eliminating the life of the convict. However, the application of the death penalty caused a causa celebre (trigger) for the re-emergence of polemics against the pros and cons of the death penalty verdict. From a human rights perspective, death penalty sanctions do not conflict with national and international legal instruments, such as the 1945 Constitution, Law Number 39 of 1999 concerning Human Rights, the Universal Declaration on Human Rights 1948, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights 1966. The methods used in this writing are juridical normative and descriptive-analytical. Keywords: Human Rights Perspective; Normative Juridical; Analytical Descriptive
