Abstract

This research aims to develop canva based animated videos. This research is research and development (RD).This research uses the ADDIE development model. The ADDIE development model consists of analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate. The research was carried out by SD Negeri 056002 Lorong Ibadah. The research subjects were 25 class III students consisting of 16 male students and 9 female students. The research object is canva based animated video. The collection techniques used are observation, tests and questionnaires. The data analysis techniques used in this research are: (1) feasibility analysis of canva based animated videos); and (2) analysis of the effectiveness of canva based animated videos. Based on the validation results carried out by material experts, 89.75% was in the very feasible category, while the media expert validation results were 93.50% in the very feasible category. Results of trials carried out using canva based animated videos on class III students It is known that as many as 22 students were said to have completed the trial, and 3 students were said to have not completed the trial. This is proven by the percentage result of 92%, which is in the very effective category. Based on the description above, it can be concluded that canva based animated videos are said to be very feasible and very effective for use in the classroom III at SD Negeri 056002 Lorong Ibadah.

Abstract

This study about “ Manuk Sangkep ” in the village firefighting, sub-district Merbau fence, Deli Serdang district, Manuk Sangkep this is a typical Karo dish in the form of chicken cooked with typical Karo spices is served and eaten as a form of appreciation and prayer for someone. Describe values traditional " Bird Sangkep “ deep culture Karo tribe from corner look philosophical. Food typical this bastard made from base chicken and processed like that appearance bird sangkep alone it means chicken the usual after cut and cooked arranged return resemble form chicken original with part his body still intact. bird sangkep symbolizes hope and blessings. Chickens have pattern regular life and behavior, wake up morning and rest night, the chicken is also responsible responsible and caring his son. Giving bird sangkep to somebody is one of them form hope, like case give bird sangkep to child his woman, that is he hope child his woman behave good, not lazy and responsible all on his actions. Visualized expectations daily one chicken become source inspiration public Batak Karo, make bird sangkep as one of the his hope. Old habits and beliefs still there is until now. Research methods this use approach qualitative with method ethnography. The purpose of this study is for search and discover processes and values existing philosophy in the tradition of “ manuk sangkep ” in culture Karo tribe. As for the results study is study about bird sangkep in the village firefighting, sub-district Merbau fence, Deli Serdang district.

Abstract

Advertising is one of the essential types of mass communication expected to persuade people to buy a product or service. In advertising, the use of language must be persuasive because it affects to influence consumers to buy these goods. Using figurative expressions in advertising is one way to attract the attention of consumers. This qualitative study aims to determine the types of figurative expressions and functions used in advertised cosmetic advertisements on Indonesian television. The data of this research are cosmetic advertisements that are broadcast on Indonesian television in 2022 which express English figurative expressions in advertising slogans. Based on the 10 data identified, the researchers find that all of them share figurative expressions of various kinds. The expression find in this research is hyperbole. It has been found that from 10 advertisements. After analyzing the data obtained in Cosmetic Advertisements on Television, there are 5 figurative languages in Cosmetic Advertisements. There are: Personification, Repetition, Hyperbole, Metaphor and Simile.

Abstract

This study on the effectiveness of communication channels for maternal healthcare is one of great concern with the increased health risks for women in their reproductive years of pregnancy and childbirth. This is especially true in developing countries such as Nigeria where thousands of women die yearly in pregnancy or childbirth. The qualitative and quantitative design method was applied in the study and the questionnaire was used for data collection from 399 respondents. The study found that the level of awareness of the programmes was encouraging for FMHCP and HeFAD; that the communication channels were adequate, and more than half thought they were effective in influencing participation in the maternal healthcare programmes. The findings provide healthcare professionals with an important insight into issues of effective communication therefore, recommend the continuous usage of communication channels to spread awareness of maternal healthcare programmes to enhance the provision of appropriate health information and maternity care to women.

Abstract

The goals that guided this study focused on the distinctive role that a skilled workforce played in achieving governmental objectives. Similar to other state civil services in Nigeria, the Delta State Civil Service was established to carry out governmental directives. The Delta State Government has struggled with subpar policy implementation over the years. In light of this, this study investigated the impact of knowledge-based human resource management policies on organizational citizenship behaviour in the Delta State Civil Service Asaba, Nigeria. These policies include recruitment and selection based on knowledge, training and development based on knowledge, performance evaluation based on knowledge, and compensation based on knowledge. By using the systematic random sampling technique, questionnaires were distributed to employees at the Delta State Civil Service Commission in Asaba, the state capital, in order to meet the study's objectives. This study used a sample size of 153 respondents and a survey research design. With the help of SPSS software version 23.0, descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data collected. Out of the 153 questionnaires distributed to respondents, 129 were retrieved and analyzed, accounting for 84.3% of the total copies distributed. The findings demonstrate, among other things, that knowledge-based human resource management policies (recruitment and selection, training and development, performance evaluation, and compensation) have a significant positive impact on organizational citizenship behaviour in the Delta State Civil Service Asaba, Nigeria. The study comes to the conclusion that by enhancing organizational knowledge and encouraging knowledge creation, human resource management affects organizational citizenship behaviour. The study recommends among others that Delta State Civil Service should make sure that its knowledge-based human resource management policies are such that support employees' civic behaviour and are capable of inspiring and retaining qualified workers for improved performance.

Abstract

This study was designed to determine the Effects of Predict-Observe-Explain instructional model on student’s cognitive styles and academic achievement in biology. Two research questions guided this study. A quasi-experimental pre-test, post-test control group design was used for this study. The sample for the study was two hundred and eighty (280) biology students. Data for this study was collected using a Two-tier diagnostic multiple choice biology achievement test and Cognitive style scale. Their validity and their reliability indices were established using Kuder-richardson formula 21 and Cronbach alpha respectively. The findings of this study showcased that there was significant difference in achievement score between the experimental and control group in favor of the experimental group and secondly there was no significant difference in the academic achievement of  field-dependent and field-independent cognitive style students taught biology using POE model. The study concluded that the POE model enhanced students of both cognitive styles’ academic achievement in biology. This study recommends that biology teachers should make use of the POE model and that POE instructional model should be incorporated into the educational system by curriculum planners due to its effectiveness in bridging the gap between students of varying cognitive styles.

Abstract

This study examines social media preference among students of Delta State University, Abraka and Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku. The study was backed up with uses and gratification theory. The study adopted survey method of ex-post- facto design. A sample size of 400 was drawn from the population. Multi-stage sampling technique was adopted, selecting undergraduate students from five faculties of Delta State University, Abraka and four from Delta Polytechnic Ogwashi–Uku. Questionnaire was used as the research instruments to collect data for the study. The researcher used descriptive statistics which comprises of simple percentage, mean and standard deviation using SPSS.  Findings from the study showed that facebook, whatsapp, and instagram were frequently used social media. Also, benefits derived from social media are information, fun and entertainment. Students between ages of 16-25 have the highest number for social media use. It also, showed that female students use facebook, snapchat and instagram frequently than the male students while male students frequently use twitter and linkedin.  And, technological exposure can influence social media preference. The study recommends that school management should provide informative, educative and entertaining online programmes more on social media for students to engage and improve their academics.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze open government research bibliometrics. This research uses a qualitative approach with bibliometric analysis methods. The data used in this research is of secondary type, originating from the Scopus database. Data was collected using the Publish or Perish application using the keyword "open government". The data obtained was then analyzed using the Vosviewer application to obtain a bibliometric map generated from keywords for all papers. Based on the results of this research, there were 160 papers over a period of 37 years. The first open government paper was published in 1986. There were 241,891 citations, 146 h-index, and 150 g-index, which shows that this paper has high impact and productivity. In this paper, there are 137 keywords grouped into 16 clusters. From these keywords, 2056 total link strengths and 567 occurrences were obtained. The keywords that dominate this paper are e-government, collaborative governance, transparency, public participation, and accountability. This shows that global open government research focuses on these concepts.

Abstract

In this research, character education is really needed by prospective Indonesian language teacher students. The educational profession is a course that provides a platform for providing character education. This is intended to can know how a role of professional ethics for developing the character of prospective Indonesian language teacher students . Ethics is a profession that has guidelines and goals, an individual attitude that is noble, dignified and honorable. In this research we used a qualitative descriptive research method. This qualitative research aims to obtain answers in the form of opinions, responses, perceptions or descriptions. The results obtained and the discussion show that professional ethics have an important role in shaping the character of prospective Indonesian language teachers, especially in instilling moral values and character in students. Don't forget the role of educational professional learning which is a guide for students to improve the skills of Indonesian language teacher candidates in the process of implementing the learning that has been carried out so that the implementation can be carried out well in accordance with the ethics of the educational profession.

Abstract

This qualitative research tries to investigate and list the number of verbosities (using or containing too many words, full of words) which is regarded redundant in terms of structure, semantic point of views, that produced by the followers in social media called Tik-tok.  Tik-Tok now is one of the massive communication activities that followed by thousands even hundred million followers worldwide at the same time. Uncle Clinton’s Space Channel is one of the channels which followers may freely join, ask and answer questions in this channel. They are also free to propose and response the questions and share some information about their hobbies, talents, their working experiences, new knowledge and so on. Also, in this unique channel, the researcher prepares and offers various interesting topics to the followers to discuss. The targets of this channel for the followers are to listen, to understand then to response each topic proposed. Through listening, understanding and responding those topics the followers produce many verbosities, words, like; little-little, more cheaper, more bigger, expensive price, cheap price, sharing-sharing, more better, expensive price, more easy, more good, I am agree, I am disagree, I am understand and so on, which are grammatically non-standard English. In this case the researcher wants to clarify why a number of verbosities appear and why they produce them when they are speaking
