Abstract

Community-based water management is intended to manage natural assets and to meet the water needs of households in the community. The management by the community takes form of informal management that focuses on social interaction, social norms, and relationships between people in the community. Although it is informal, this form of organization needs to pay attention on aspects of formal management covering planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling (POAC). To find out how the application of POAC in community-based water management, the research conducted case study of two locations in Kedungmundu village, Semarang City, Central Java, Indonesia. This research found that the implementation of management in the community-based urban groundwater in both locations faced various kinds of problems: lack of understanding of the community on how to manage their assets properly, no clear purpose of their management, absence of independence oversight, and lack of good communication. The results can be the evaluations for the management in both locations and for developing knowledge and practical insight of POAC application on similar community-based urban groundwater management in different locations for them to become sustainable management.

Abstract

Tobacco Besuki Na-Oogst (BesNO) is a fancy product and becomes a leading export-oriented commodity, especially as a raw material for making cigar. The embarrassment of Besuki Na-Oogst is a plant which has location specifics. Every tobacco-producing region has distinctive qualities. Tobacco Besuki Na-Oogst (BesNO) quality is measured using standards that are easily implemented by all tobacco Besuki Na-Oogst business actors. The research objective is to determine the competitiveness of tobacco Besuki Na-Oogst as an export quality product. The analytical method used is descriptive analysis and SWOT. The research took place in Jember Regency Indonesia. The results show that tobacco Besuki Na-Oogst's strategic potential is supported by supporting infrastructure capacity in testing tobacco quality, geographical potential and human resources in the face of competition and international policy. The strategy applied is to support aggressive growth policies through improving the quality of cultivation and capacity of standard infrastructure and the quality and quality of human resources in the face of international competitiveness.

Abstract

Quality is one of differentiation strategies that can be addressed to achieve competitive advantage. Many alternatives can be selected to achieve this purpose. One of them is to maintain good quality of the products. A craft souvenir enterprise in Semarang controls the operation system of every product it produces to meet a good quality. This is very important since it produces customized products in which each product is designed according to customer order. A case study was conducted on the mica packaging craft product. Observations for 3 months with weekly production period show that the proportion of defective products is still relatively high compared to that is set by the enterprise (3.6% against 3%). By using the Statistical Process Control method and follow-up using the fishbone diagram method, it is found that there are 3 main causes, namely material, man (labor), and machine factors. Refer to this analysis, corrective actions is carried out to reduce occurrence of defective products in the next production periods.

Abstract

Banking industry is currently experiencing a new demographic era known as the era of demographic bonus which occurs due to changes in the age structure of labor. This demographic bonus also occurs in Bank X in Semarang in which all funding officers in the marketing department are aged between 20 and 38 years old which is known as generation Y or millennial generation. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of compensation and benefits on employee performance and whether motivation moderates the influence. The population in this study were all funding officers in the marketing department, totaling 121 employees and all of them were selected as the sample. The type of data used is primary data obtained from the respondents by means of questionnaires. The classical assumption tests used in this study include normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity tests. The analytical tool used in this research is the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) test. The results indicate that compensation and benefits affect employee performance and motivation moderates the effect of compensation and benefits on employee performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the family business succession process carried out by PT. BJE in the election of son-in-law as the business successor. To understand the selection process, a succession analysis was carried out through the seven stages of the Seven-Point Star Model. The research method uses descriptive qualitative with a case study phenomenology approach. This study used primary and secondary data obtained by means of semi-structured in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and company documentation. The results showed that the stages of the Seven-Point Star Model succession planning had not yet been fully implemented by PT. BJE.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find how the superiority of the mobile bank or bank titil in the community and how it is viewed from an Islamic economic perspective. This research is a field research conducted using a qualitative approach. The snowball sampling technique was used to obtain the informants who use the services of a bank titil. Data from the key informants are then analyzed using three steps that occur simultaneously, namely data reduction, data presentation (display), and drawing conclusions/verification. The result of this research is that superiority of a mobile bank or bank titil in the community is related to the convenience in transaction provided by a mobile bank or bank titil. First, it is simple requirements. The second is fast disbursement. Third, there is no collateral or guarantee must be given to the titil bank as an official bank institutions are required. However, with the facilities provided by a mobile bank or bank titil, its practice basically contains harms which makes residents remain in a circle of poverty because of their dependence on the services of the mobile bank or bank titil.
