Abstract

Background: Breakfast is an activity of eating and drinking that is done until 09.00 with a menu that is guided by balanced nutrition. Breakfast can increase children's intelligence and productivity at school. Nutrition education with a play method is very suitable for school children, one of which is flashcards because there are many pictures, not much writing and more attention-grabbing. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effect of nutrition education using flashcard media on changes in knowledge and breakfast frequency at SD Muhammadiyah 4 Surabaya. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental method with a pre-posttest group design. The sample size was obtained using the Lemeshow formula of 30 children with a dropout anticipation of 25%. Simple random sampling method for sample selection. The study was conducted by providing nutritional education using flashcard media in the treatment group and posters in the control group. Results: Wilcoxon test results indicate that there is a difference in the average level of knowledge before and after nutrition education using flashcards (p < 0,05). Moreover, the breakfast frequency of respondents increased after receiving nutrition education using flashcards. Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is a difference in the average level of knowledge and increase in breakfast frequency in the treatment group before and after nutritional education using flashcard media. To improve children's knowledge and breakfast frequency, flashcards can be used as nutrition education media.

Abstract

Background: Anemia can be considered a significant health issue among Indonesian teenagers, with a relatively high incidence rate of 32%. Within the age range of 15-24 years, the incidence rate of anemia among teenage girls reaches 27.2%, while among teenage boys it is 20.3%. One of the regions in Indonesia with a relatively high incidence rate of anemia is Situbondo Regency. It is known that 49% of pregnant women and teenage girls have sufficient and insufficient knowledge regarding anemia and iron supplement consumption. Preventing and managing anemia in adolescents can be achieved by increasing their knowledge and understanding of anemia and its effects. Providing education to adolescents can be done through lecture and discussion methods. Objectives: Increase the knowledge of Kalimas Village adolescents regarding anemia and encourage them to develop a supportive environment to improve adherence to regular and sustainable consumption of blood supplement tablets. Methods: This community service was implemented using a quasi-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of the education implementation consisted of 10 adolescents from the age range of 12 to 20. Data on adolescent knowledge related to anemia was obtained through pretest and posttest questionnaires. The education on anemia was delivered through lecture and discussion methods using leaflets and PowerPoint as media. Results: The statistical analysis conducted using the Paired Sample T-Test indicates that the average knowledge score of adolescents before and after receiving education increased. The p-value of 0.000, which is significantly smaller than 0.05, suggests a significant difference in the level of knowledge among adolescents before and after receiving education. Conclusions: The provision of education through lectures and discussions, utilizing leaflets and PowerPoint media related to anemia, can effectively enhance adolescents' knowledge. It is hoped that similar activities can be conducted regularly and sustainably, accompanied by a monitoring scheme for blood tablet consumption as a form of effort to reduce the incidence of anemia and accelerate the reduction of stunting rates in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Contact dermatitis is a skin inflammation caused by exposure to irritants or allergens, often associated with occupational exposure. Its causes include endogenous factors, such as genetics and atopic history, as well as exogenous factors, such as chemical properties and exposure duration. This condition has a high global prevalence, particularly in tropical regions. In Indonesia, dermatitis ranks third among the top ten skin diseases, with most cases being work-related. Contact dermatitis is classified into Irritant Contact Dermatitis (ICD) and Allergic Contact Dermatitis (ACD), with risk factors including exposure duration, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and history of skin diseases. High-risk industries include manufacturing, construction, and printing. Objective: Analyzing the factors of work duration and history of atopy that contribute to the risk of contact dermatitis among workers at the hand-rolled cigarette factory Mitra Produksi Sigaret Koperasi Unit Desa (MPS KUD) Tani Mulyo, Lamongan. Method: The study is an analytical research with a cross-sectional study design. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the chi-square test and the Mann-Whitney U test. The sampling technique used was total sampling, with the study population consisting of all production workers at a hand-rolled cigarette factory in Turi District, Lamongan Regency, in 2022. The total sample size was 81 participants. The analysis instruments used included questionnaires, medical examination sheets, and observation sheets. Results: The results of this analysis show that 49 individuals (60.5%) experienced contact dermatitis among hand-rolled cigarette production workers, with the most common cause being endogenous factors related to individual susceptibility. The analysis also demonstrates that the variables significantly associated with contact dermatitis are a history of atopy (p=0.000) and length of employment (p=0.000). Conclusions: This analysis proves that there is a significant association between atopy history and length of service with the incidence of contact dermatitis in workers at MPS KUD Tani Mulyo. These findings emphasise the need for special prevention and protection efforts for high-risk workers, especially those with a history of atopy and a long working life.

Abstract

Background: Premarital sexual behavior refers to sexual activities conducted without the formal process of marriage, as recognized by law, religion, or belief systems. Premarital sexual behavior has become a phenomenon and a growing issue commonly encountered in society. Such behavior is feared to contribute to sexually transmitted diseases, and unwanted pregnancies, and may encourage child marriage practices. The Health Belief Model can predict individuals in making health-related decisions, including the prevention of premarital sexual behavior. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the determinants of premarital sexual behavior among adolescents based on the Health Belief Model. Methods: This study was descriptive quantitative research using a cross-sectional design. The sample used was 90 respondents from 10th and 11th grade students, who were randomly selected using proportional random sampling within a one-month period. Data collection with questionnaires related to premarital sexual behaviour based on Health Belief Model components in high schools in Gresik Regency. This study uses SPSS analysis with the chi-square test. Result: The results showed that 4.4% of respondents engaged in premarital sexual behavior. The perceived severity value was p=0.005, perceived barriers value was p=0.006, perceived susceptibility (p=1.000), perceived benefits (p=1.000), perceived self-efficacy (p=0.050), and cues to action (p=1.000). Conclusions: The study concludes that is a significant relationship between perceived severity and perceived barriers to premarital sexual behavior among adolescents. However, perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, perceived self-efficacy, and cues to action do not have a significant relationship with premarital sexual behavior among adolescents. It is suggested that adolescents enhance their understanding of premarital sexual behavior by seeking accurate and reliable information, and by choosing friends and social environments wisely to avoid negative influences or the desire to engage in premarital sexual behavior.
