Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the technology-based learning method in improving junior high school students’ literacy and comprehension of fiction and non-fiction books. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design (Nonequivalent Control Group Design), involving two classes: an experimental class using the technology-based learning method and a control class using conventional teaching methods. The research instrument was a reading literacy test consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, Levene’s test for homogeneity, independent-samples t-test, N-Gain calculation, and effect size measurement. The results showed a significant difference between the posttest scores of the experimental and control classes, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The average N-Gain score in the experimental class was 0.632 (moderate category) with an effectiveness level of 63.20%, while the control class scored 0.213 (low category). The effect size value of 1.255 was categorized as large, indicating a substantial influence of the technology-based learning method on improving students’ literacy and reading comprehension. These findings suggest that technology-based learning is worth implementing as an alternative instructional strategy to enhance students’ reading literacy in fiction and non-fiction materials.

Abstract

Character education is a key pillar of the Indonesian education system. Technological developments and the rapid flow of globalization pose significant challenges to the character development of students, particularly in the era of information disruption, which often shifts the nation's moral values. Schools are expected to serve not only as institutions for the transfer of knowledge but also as centers for the formation of noble personalities. One strategic approach to strengthening character education is the integration of local wisdom. Banjar traditions such as the "kayuh baimbai" (mutual cooperation), "badamai" (peaceful deliberation), and the "Batamat Al-Qur'an" (Batamat Al-Qur'an) embodied values of religiosity, responsibility, tolerance, and respect for parents and teachers. This study used the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method by examining primary articles related to character education based on local wisdom, particularly in the Banjar community. The analysis shows that local culture-based educational management can be a more contextual and applicable learning alternative, and supports the strengthening of student identity. The study also highlights obstacles such as teachers' limited understanding of local culture, the lack of integration of local wisdom values into the curriculum, and weak infrastructure support. Thus, the integration of local wisdom is not only relevant for strengthening character but also as a strategy for maintaining cultural identity amidst globalization.

Abstract

Listening skills constitute a fundamental component of language learning; however, their development continues to face various challenges, particularly within digital-media-based instruction. One internal factor presumed to play a significant role in listening proficiency is linguistic intelligence. This study aims to describe the role of linguistic intelligence in shaping the educational podcast listening skills of eleventh-grade Madrasah Aliyah (MA) students in Polewali Mandar Regency. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study involved 103 students as research participants. Data were collected through a linguistic intelligence questionnaire, an educational podcast listening skills test, preliminary interviews, and documentation. The questionnaire was developed based on Gardner’s indicators of linguistic intelligence, while the listening test was administered after students listened to the Insantama School Podcast episode entitled “Pemuda Mengubah Peradaban.” Data analysis followed the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that linguistic intelligence generally enhances students’ educational podcast listening skills, particularly in comprehending content, identifying details, selecting appropriate diction, and interpreting message meaning. Specifically, students’ linguistic intelligence was classified at a moderate-to-good level and contributed positively to listening performance, especially in expressing ideas, understanding texts, and using language creatively. Therefore, linguistic intelligence plays a crucial role in supporting the development of educational podcast listening skills among MA students in Polewali Mandar Regency.

Abstract

Science, in the conventional tradition, is often viewed as a body of objective truths grounded in observation and experimentation. However, the sociology of knowledge asserts that science does not emerge in a vacuum; rather, it is shaped by complex social processes. Social reality, including scientific knowledge, is constructed through interaction, institutionalization, and legitimation, such that scientific truth is fundamentally a socially recognized construction. This study aims to analyze science as a social construction from several perspectives, particularly concerning the processes of externalization, objectivation, and internalization in the formation of scientific reality. The method employed is a literature review derived from various online sources. A literature review may be understood as an explanation or description of scholarly works relevant to a particular topic. In this study, the literature consists of books, articles, journals, and other relevant references to support the analysis of the relationship between scientific knowledge and societal development. The findings indicate that the ideas of various scholars provide an essential foundation for understanding that science not only influences social life but is also shaped by the social factors within it. In other words, scientific knowledge cannot be separated from the social context that surrounds it. This reciprocal relationship demonstrates how society and science mutually construct one another, giving rise to diverse forms of reality across different spaces and times. Therefore, the application of scientific knowledge in society must always be understood within a broader social framework.
