Abstract

Education is the basis of all societies. Its aim is to transform undifferentiated beings at birth into beings who are members of societies capable of contributing to their substance and their development. It constitutes a catalyst for the reception of knowledge and seems to be the best shared thing in the world. School has become the preferred environment for Bantu and indigenous children. But indigenous children in particular, girls always drop out of schools temporarily and permanently. This study was carried out in the school district of Ngo in the department of Bateke plateau located 250 km from Brazzaville. Data collection was facilitated by the questionnaire, semi-structured interview, observation and documentary analysis. The results obtained confirm the main hypothesis, according to which there are socio-cultural and economic factors that hinder the schooling of young indigenous girls the main causes: unfavorable living conditions parental illiteracy, solicitation of labor work of indigenous girls, the language of teaching and learning.

Abstract

This study ascertained specific discourse markers used under the categories of contrastive, elaborative and inferential in the selected electronic essays of freshmen Bachelor of Arts in BA English Language students of a government run university in Tacloban City, Leyte, Philippines. It pinpointed the discourse markers that are used incorrectly by the freshmen students in their writings. Using a qualitative research design, the data were sourced from the sixty-two students’ electronic essays, enrolled in the History of the English Language course during the first semester of academic year 2021-2022. The essays were described, analyzed and interpreted using the framework on discourse markers developed by Fraser in 2009. Results showed that the students used restricted set of contrastive (“but” and “however”), elaborative (“and” and “furthermore”), and inferential (“because (of/this)” and “so (that)”) discourse markers (DMs). Furthermore, multiple incorrectly used DMs were also found as caused by misused, unnecessary, non-functional, and ungrammatical DMs. As use of discourse markers seemed restricted among the language students, the researchers found a gap of familiarization with other discourse markers and their functions among them, hence, limiting them to use common discourse markers (e.g. but, and, so that etc.). Moreover, students are also still incognizant with the basic functions and categorization of discourse markers which somehow affect the quality of their electronic essay outputs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate a logical-based learning order and its effects on the growth of pupils lecturing the listening skill. The first approach employed in this study is R&D. Furthermore, data was gathered through inspection, observation, and interviews. The study was conducted for students in the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic year at Siliwangi University Tasikmalaya's Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. The information was quantitatively processed. The findings revealed that logic-based learning syntax positively influenced student lecturing and listening skills. It is advised that the research be followed up and confirmed by people in the same profession to stretcher the research results.

Abstract

In this brief account I argue that art ought to be an enterprise wherein the artist tries to understand his/her process and develop a discursive understanding annexed to or in tandem with practice. I argue that innovation in art – the claims of the great artists – resulted in a certain paradigm shift. Yet the postmodern move towards a largely anti-intellectual polarity does a great disservice to art. I conclude with the necessity to at least define our terms, otherwise the possibility of art even carrying some sense evaporates, let alone any meaningful discrimination.

Abstract

Non-business students pursuing business-related degrees have increased in number at one selected public university in Zimbabwe. Entrepreneurship, which is commonly thought to be a subject for business discipline students, is being studied by non-business-oriented students as part of the curriculum. The purpose of this study was to learn about non-business students' perceptions and experiences while taking the Entrepreneurship course. To collect data for a case study design based on the interpretive paradigm, semi structured questionnaires were emailed to sixteen non-business Master’s students who were purposively chosen as key informants. Thematic analysis of the findings revealed that non-business students perceived entrepreneurship to be a relevant subject, particularly in these days of depressed economies where people must be job creators rather than job seekers, and where even those in employment must generate extra income. Further research revealed Entrepreneurship to be an interesting and beneficial course that imparts entrepreneurial knowledge and skills. The study concluded that entrepreneurship is a necessary course regardless of discipline and thus recommended that it be made a mandatory course across all faculties.

Abstract

This study aims to see the results of web-based developed products regarding the lower passing of volleyball at SMP Negeri 1 Pantai labu. Type. Assessment from material experts 92.6%, from website media experts 88.3% with excellent criteria Assessment from Linguists 88.3% with excellent criteria In the pretest and postest tests conducted in classes VIII- G and VIII-B obtained a score of 64.28% in the pretest class. in the posttest class it gained 83% with a difference of 18.72%. From the trial, an increase in interest in learning was obtained, meaning that website-based learning has a positive impact on student learning outcomes even though learning is still online or 50% face-to-face learning. Overall the assessment of the quality of the product is "very worthy" to use.

Abstract

This type of research is development (research and development). In research on the development of volleyball smash tools. In this study the authors carried out 8 research steps due to the limitations of the researchers. This research is planned to be carried out in September 2022. The research location was carried out at the Nusantara Private High School extracurricular club. In this study, a small trial was given to 10 volleyball extracurricular athletes from Nusantara Private High School, and a large trial was conducted to 20 volleyball extracurricular athletes from Nusantara Private High School. Based on the description of the research results and discussion, the conclusions in this study were determined, namely the results of a large group tryout by 20 athlete respondents from SMA Nusantara Lubuk Pakam. Where the score obtained in the large group trial was 1270 with a percentage of 90.71. The results of the large group tryout by trainer respondents were 2 people from Lubuk Pakam Nusantara High School. Where the results in the large group trial were 104 with a category of 94.54%, meaning that the large group trial of product responses was very feasible. The result of the final revision of the volleyball expert by obtaining a score of 100 with a percentage of 90.91% means that the product development of this smash tool is very feasible. Then the media experts obtained a score of 62 with a percentage of 95.38% meaning that the product development of this smash tool is very feasible.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to categorize and describe the varieties, purposes, and tactics of teachers’ directive speech acts via zoom cloud meeting in English School Indonesia. This descriptive qualitative research used “teknik bebas libat cakap (SLBC)” technique or Uninvoled Conversation Observation Technique which is backed by the data collection techniques of keeping records and taking notes. This study makes use of Kreidler’s idea of directive speech act kinds (1998), Bach and Harnish’s (1979) theory of directive speech act functions and Yule’s (1990) theory of directive speech act strategy (1996). Data were analyzed using methodologies of referential and pragmatic distributional. The analysis of the data reveals that: (1) the types of directive speech acts used by teachers are commands, requests, and suggestions; (2) the functions of these speech acts are requestives, requirements, prohibitives, and advisories; and (3) the direct and indirect strategies employed by teachers are for directive speech acts. The type of command is the most dominant directive speech acts used by teachers(48%). With 40% incidence, the requirement function overtakes all other directive speech act functions. With 78% of teachers using it, the direct technique is the most common directive speech act strategy.

Abstract

Stories are a prominent piece of prose literature. Stories coming from Quran are the best of the stories according to their kinds based on the sayings from Quran. They are divided into two types of long stories and partitioned stories. The first part of this article discusses these kinds of stories while the second part discusses some fundamental aspects of Muslim humans such as the story and belief, story and mission, story and worshipping and story and morality. The entire purpose of these topics is motivating the human beings towards good deeds for example, integrity, truthfulness, having visions and other deeds. In general, this article analytically explains these topics and relies on a library research as well.

Abstract

The world is facing serious issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic influencing people's economic, social, and lifestyle. The issue badly affects the educational system and institutions because nationwide closure stops classroom activities. The study aimed to investigate the factors affecting pupils’ learning in the new normal at Saint Michael College of Caraga. The study utilized the descriptive quantitative research method. The researchers used survey questionnaires via google forms with the 58 pupils in Grades 3 to 6, who were the study's respondents using the purposive sampling method. Based on the findings, there is a moderate extent of the factors affecting pupils’ learning in the new normal. This means that the pupils learning in the new normal is moderately affected by six factors: the perceived ease of use of technology, perceived usefulness of technology, faculty capacity of the school, course content in e-learning, course design in e-learning, and learner’s characteristics. It was recommended that the school administration continue supporting and providing the Learning Management System to the students for better learning. The pupils' perceived usefulness of technology helps them in the new normal learning; therefore, the teachers are encouraged to use videos, audios, and instant messaging to contact and provide feedback to the pupils. Moreover, teachers must monitor pupils' learning since the online classroom is new. The teacher’s reinforcement is significantly important to secure the learning for pupils online learning to be successful.
