Abstract

Palm sugar, derived from coconuts, holds longstanding cultural significance in Indonesian society, offering substantial economic value. The hamlet of Nganti in Yogyakarta thrives on coconut farming and palm sugar production. Despite its potential, the palm sugar industry grapples with challenges such as limited market access and a lack of technological awareness. To address these issues, the application of digital marketing is envisioned to broaden market reach and establish robust branding. This community service program is designed to empower and optimize palm sugar marketing through digital strategies, targeting local palm sugar farmers and producers. Activities encompass discussions, digital marketing training, the creation of a video profile, and the establishment of digital marketing accounts. The program has successfully enhanced public understanding of digital marketing, facilitating effective product promotion. The initiation of social media accounts and profile videos serves to broaden product visibility to a wider audience. The most notable outcome is the increased accessibility to markets and heightened product sales.

Abstract

The workload of Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) has a significant impact on both physical and psychological health. One consequential issue is the prevalence of chronic kidney failure (CKD) among PMI in Ponorogo who undergo hemodialysis (HD). PMI often remain unaware of whether their behaviors in migrant countries contribute to CKD. This community service initiative aims to educate PMI about behaviors that pose a risk of causing CKD. The service activities unfold in three stages. The first stage involves a presentation on psychology, followed by an explanation regarding health, and concluding with a discussion. The outcome of this initiative is an increase in knowledge among prospective PMIs regarding both health and psychology. Knowledge about CKD increased by 30%, motivation saw a 14% increase, social support rose by 34%, and there was a 39% increase in support for a healthy living environment. These findings suggest that prospective PMIs can better prepare themselves for work in migrant countries by prioritizing attention to both physical and psychological health, even amidst lifestyle differences.

Abstract

This community service activity is prompted by teachers' demand for competence in writing literary works, particularly poetry and short stories. Therefore, the objective of this community service is to enhance the writing abilities of teachers at SDN Genuksari 01 in Semarang City, focusing on poetry and short story composition. The activity is divided into two stages: preparation and implementation. These stages include delivering materials, engaging in question and answer sessions, providing assistance in literary work composition, and conducting outreach on self-publication. The positive reception of this activity is evident due to the numerous benefits it brings to participants. These include an increase in knowledge and competence in composing poetry and short stories based on their observations and experiences. Participants also learn to create poetry using simple words. The aspiration is that this knowledge won't be confined to teachers alone but will also be passed on to students, fostering a greater appreciation for engaging in literary work.

Abstract

Stunting can occur during fetal development and becomes apparent when the child reaches two years of age. Without proper intervention, such as balanced catch-up growth, stunting can lead to decreased overall growth. This issue is a significant public health concern, associated with an elevated risk of morbidity, mortality, and impediments to both motor and mental development. One proactive approach to address stunting involves education and training in the preparation of Complementary Feeding (MP-ASI) using locally sourced snakehead fish and Moringa leaves. Our observations, conducted until September 2022, revealed that out of 109 children in Sidoarum Village, 34 were identified as stunted. Our initiative commenced with socialization efforts and progressed to educational sessions and practical training in MP-ASI preparation using local ingredients. Participants in these sessions included 40 mothers of toddlers. Notably, 75% of the participants demonstrating high knowledge following the stunting education and MP-ASI preparation training. In addition to enhancing maternal understanding of stunting prevention, our service providers conducted assessments of toddlers' growth and development.
