Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the difficulties students face in solving problems related to the surface area and volume of prisms. The research employs a qualitative method, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and document analysis involving 32 eighth-grade students at a public junior high school in Tasikmalaya. The data analysis technique used in this study is data triangulation. The findings reveal that 71.9% of students experience difficulties in understanding the basic concept of prisms, 34.3% struggle with applying formulas, and 15.6% have difficulty visualizing the shape of prisms. The discussion in this study emphasizes conceptual and procedural issues. The implications of this research significantly impact curriculum development and mathematics teaching methods in schools. Additionally, the findings can serve as a benchmark for educators in designing more effective learning strategies that focus on concept comprehension, visualization, and accurate formula application, as well as the development of more interactive teaching materials

Abstract

This research explores how mathematics education students view the benefits of using the Photomath application in solving mathematics problems. The method applied is a qualitative research approach. Information was collected by distributing questionnaires to mathematics education students at the Sultan Syarif Kasim State Islamic University of Riau who had experience using Photomath to help them solve mathematical problems. A total of 30 subjek penetrants were the sample in this research. The collected data was analyzed based on perception themes related to the use of the Photomath application that had been determined by the researcher. The research results show that using the Photomath application is indeed suitable for making it easier for users to understand mathematical solving procedures both in terms of features and performance.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is a simpler and more flexible curriculum as a result, teachers focus on important things and students become more active in responding to their interests, this study aims to identify, describe, and describe the difficulty factors for biology teachers in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at SMA Negeri 4 Palu. This type of research used is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study indicate that the results of the Biology Teacher's Difficulty Factor Questionnaire in Implementing the Merdeka Curriculum at SMA Negeri 4 Palu are in the difficult category with the highest score found in lesson plan readiness with a percentage value of 58.3 and there is readiness for learning implementation with a percentage value of 66.7 as for evaluating learning assessment with a percentage value of 87.5. The results of biology teacher interviews related to difficulties in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum are in lesson plan readiness, readiness for learning implementation and evaluation of learning assessments

Abstract

This study seeks to investigate the impact of the discovery learning model on students' scientific literacy skills concerning the topics of temperature and heat expansion in the seventh grade at MTs Negeri 3 Palu. The research employs a quantitative methodology featuring a quasi-experimental design that utilizes pretest and posttest measures in non-equivalent control group design. Class VII A serves as the experimental group, while class VII C acts as the control group, with participants selected through purposive sampling. The assessment tools consist of a multiple-choice pretest and posttest, comprising a total of 15 items. Data were analyzed utilizing a paired samples t-test. The results indicate that the significance value for students' scientific literacy skills is 0.00 (2-tailed), which is lower than the 0.05 threshold. This suggests that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that the discovery learning model significantly impacts seventh-grade students' scientific literacy skills on the topics of temperature and heat expansion at MTs Negeri 3 Palu.

Abstract

The curriculum is a set of designed arrangements that include goals, materials, methods, and assessments used in the educational process. The curriculum serves as a guide for implementing learning activities and functions as a tool to achieve the objectives of education. This study aims to compare the mathematics curriculum at the secondary school level in Indonesia and Singapore. This research is qualitative, using descriptive methods and data collection techniques from articles, journals, books, and online media. The results obtained indicate that the Indonesian curriculum emphasizes 21st-century competency achievements, while Singapore focuses primarily on problem-solving with five conceptual goals. The content of the secondary school mathematics curriculum in Indonesia consists of numbers, algebra, measurement, geometry, data analysis and probability, as well as calculus, whereas Singapore's curriculum includes numbers and algebra, geometry and measurement, and statistics and probability. Mathematics learning in Indonesia is project-based, reinforcing the Pancasila student profile. Meanwhile, in Singapore, the Singapore Math teaching method focuses on two main principles: the Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract (CPA) approach and mastery of content. The assessment methods used are both formative and summative but with different objectives

Abstract

Kemampuan komunikasi matematis adalah proses penyampaian ide dan gagasan matematika menggunakan simbol matematika, gambar, diagram, kosakata dalam bentuk tulisan maupun lisan. Self confidence adalah rasa sikap percaya atas keyakinan kemampuan dirinya yang dimunculkan dalam suatu tindakan Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komunikasi matematis ditinjau dari self confidence peserta didik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMP Negeri 1 Sidrap dengan subjek penelitian peserta didik kelas VIII A tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Dalam penelitian kualitatif ini digunakan wawancara, tes kemampuan komunikasi matematis, angket kepercayaan diri, dan triangulasi teknik untuk memvalidasi data.Hasil dari penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa peserta didik yang mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi matematis tinggi dengan tingkat self confidence tinggi dapat mencapai indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis dengan maksimal yaitu memenuhi indikator Written Text, Mathematical Expression, Drawing. Peserta didik yang mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi matematis sedang dengan tingkat self confidence tinggi dapat mencapai indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis yang baik yaitu memenuhi 2 indikator Written Text dan Drawing. Peserta didik yang mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi matematis tinggi dengan tingkat self confidence sedang dapat memenuhi semua indikator kemampuan komunikasi matematis yaitu Written Text, Mathematical Expression, Drawing. Peserta didik yang mempunyai tingkat kemampuan komunikasi matematis sedang dengan tingat self confidence sedang yaitu memenuhi 2 indikator yaitu Written Text dan Drawing. Peserta didik yang mempunyai kemampuan komunikasi matematis rendah dengan tingkat self confidence sedang dapat memenuhi 1 indikator yaitu Written Text. Peserta didik yang mempunyai kemampun komunikasi rendah dengan self confidence rendah dapat memenuhi 1 indikator yaitu Written Text.
