Abstract

Background: Coronavirus is RNA virus, positive stranded, and is enveloped was first isolated in 1965, cancause symptoms like common cold, severe respiratory symptoms, gastrointestinal, liver and CNS symptoms.WHO announced the original name of coronavirus as COVID19. This virus has been named as Severe AcuteRespiratory Syndrome Cov-2 currently and WHO has now declared this virus as emergency of public healthconcern. More than seventy thousand people in the China and 25 other countries have been infected.Materials and Method: Various lab investigations like CBC, Real Time-PCR, d-dimer levels, cell culture, electron microscopy, Low platelet count, ESR, CRP levels, Chest CT, Xray, Liver and Kidney Functiontests, SOFA (sequential organ failure assessment) score have been useful in diagnosing the causative agent. Conclusion: Since no antiviral treatment has been effective till now so transmission can be slowed downby preventive measures like self-quarantine,isolation, maintaining distance from one another and use ofpersonal equipment.

Abstract

Introduction: Following menopause, decreased oestrogen production from ovaries leads to lipoproteinprofile derangement, drastic alterations in the metabolism of glucose and insulin, distribution of body fat, coagulation and fibrinolysis and vascular endothelium dysfunction. Oestrogens include many cardioprotectivemechanisms that alter the vascular tone by enhancing the levels of nitrous oxide. Endothelial cells arestabilized by oestrogens, they augment antioxidant potential and alter fibrinolytic proteins. These are allcardio-protective mechanisms that are reduced with beginning of menopause. Objectives: To evaluate the relation of oestradiol hormonal variation with plasma lipid concentrations inpre- and post- menopausal women.Material and Method: 50 premenopausal women and 50 postmenopausal female were selected as subjects.Data were obtained via clinical assessment from laboratory investigations and questionnai. Results: Serum levels of Total Cholesterol (TC), Triglycerides (TG), LDL-cholesterol, and VLDLcholesterol in postmenopausal women were significantly elevated when matched with premenopausalwomen. For postmenopausal women, the level of HDL-cholesterol declined substantially. The concentrationof estradiol in post-menopause women was significantly lower (p<0.001).Conclusion: Menopause results in alterations in the lipid profile by reducing HDL and increasing totalcholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), LDL-cholesterol and VLDL-cholesterol, thus raising the chancesof cardiovascular disease. These shifts are due to decreased amounts of oestrogen that are observed inmenopause.

Abstract

Modern civilization, Industrialization and the population explosion has shrunken forests as well as the landavailable for cultivation in our country which has badly affected the availability of medicinal plants asthe quantity of medicinal plants is reduced the quality also is compromised. The green revolution wasbrought about by the use of chemical treatments on the seeds, plants, used of the pesticides and chemicalmanures. It would be worthwhile to study whether similar pattern can be employed to increase the no. ofplants and their quality in the field of cultivation of medicinal plants. Although, plant breeding appears tobe the principal way of improvement, and can give good results in terms of resistance to pathogens, activecomponent content and yield; the agronomical and the technological approaches are also very important. An agronomical method to improve the quality & quantity of the plants includes treatments of seeds & thegrowing plants with Bio-engineered herbal products along with the use of organic manures. The scientistin the field of botany and agriculture have developed some method of quality enhancing by treating seeds, seedlings or young shoots or buds in plant breeding with some suitable chemical treatments. These methodhave given satisfactory results in the form of increase in the yield. Hoping that the quality also improvesit would be worthwhile to grow medicinal plants on the similar lines. The relevant literature reveals thatColchicine treatment on seeds or seedling or emerging buds for quality enhancing of medicinal plants willbe worth studying

Abstract

The growth and development of a country relies heavily on the Higher education which powers the supplyof skilled and technologically advanced manpower.Outcome based education is potentially successful curricular innovation for educational institutions asit not only overcomes the lacuna of traditional learning process but also it has the advantage of beingfuture driven. OBE aims at assessing the learners on understanding, critical thinking, reasoning, reflectionand action. It aims at ensuring that the students have an integration of knowledge and learning relevantand connected to real-life situations. Looking at the growing importance of Outcome based Education(OBE), This study is conducted to find the OBE literacy quotient of the faculty members in Management& Engineering colleges. A preview is generated with respect to the acceptance and/or reluctance of facultymembers towards implementing OBE practices. The study also postulates the relationship between OBEknowledge and teaching effectiveness. The data is analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics. The outcome of the research would be significant for the policy makers and administrators in determiningthe means to improve quality of education by proper implementation of OBE practices.

Abstract

Background: Nearly 30 percent to 50 percent of people are estimated to have deficiency of vitamin D,and insufficiency and vitamin D deficiency are recognized as global health issues in the world. Althoughthe presence of hypo-vitamin D raises the risk of rickets and fractures, higher levels of vitamin D are alsoassociated with hypertension (HTN), cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cancer. In addition, the vitaminD levels are also associated with diabetes mellitus (DM) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Deficiencyof vitamin D was linked to DM induction and progression. While the relationship between vitamin D andinsulin secretion, insulin tolerance, and ?-cell dysfunction is highlighted in patients with DM, evidence ofvitamin D and DM levels is inconsistent, and well-controlled studies are required.Aim: Supplementation of vitamin D in diabetic patients.Material and Method: The study included 50 patients were given vita D supplement and 50 subjects werenot given vita D supplement in diabetic people as the control group. Directly Observed Treatment in theDepartment of Clinical Biochemistry, Datta Meghe Medical College, SMHRC, Nagpur in collaboration withJNMC, ABVRH (Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences Deemed To Be University), Sawangi, Wardha,Maharashtra. Conclusion: This study evaluated that vitamin D supplementation can improve HbA1c, insulin resistance, and insulin in short-term intervention in T1DM & T2DM patients, suggesting that vitamin D can beconsidered as a therapeutic agent along with the other T1DM & T2DM treatments. The findings show thatin non-additional diabetic patients, vit D concentration was substantially lower than the additional diabeticindividuals.

Patients were clinically observed in 4 follow ups, each follow up was conducted every 15 days. Last(Fourth) telephonic follow up was taken after six months of completion of treatment course to observe anyrenal obstructive pathology. Results: Total 13 patients of case series were observed normal kidney function test reports. Last (Fourth)telephonic follow up was also reported normal, no any renal complications reported. Conclusion: This clinical case series found that use of Ayurvedicherbomineral medicines in paediatricpatients is safe and there is no relation with nephrotoxicity or any obstructive renal pathology when usedproperly
