Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui upaya guru PAI dalam membentuk karakter Islami siswa, kewibawaan guru PAI, serta mengetahui hambatan atau kendala yang dialami guru PAI dalam membentuk karakter Islami siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang menggunakan metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan analisis dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yaitu dengan uji keabsahan data dan trianggulasi sumber data. Lokasi yang dipilih dalam penelitian ini yaitu di SMPS Islam Terpadu Al Hijrah 2 Deli Serdang. Adapun hasil yang ditemukan oleh peneliti adalah guru PAI masih dalam proses untuk mengembangkan kewibawaaan pada diri mereka dengan dibantu program pendukung berupa BPI, dzikir pagi al-Ma’tsurat, jum’at berbagi, dan tahfidz Al-Qur’an. Saat prosesnya, guru PAI mengalami beberapa hambatan seperti pengaruh lingkungan atau teman, kurangnya kerjasama orang tua dengan guru PAI, dan pengaruh penggunaan smartphone terhadap siswa.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh dari penggunaan metode mind mapping terhadap keterampilan menyimak cerita fiksi di kelas IV Sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experimental yang melibatkan kelas kontrol dan eksperimen. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IV MIS Mardliatul Islamiyyah Medan dan menggunakan sampel jenuh dimana seluruh anggota populasi dijadikan sampel. Instrument penelitian ini yang digunakan adalah tes berupa essay. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis menggunkan teknik statistic paired sample t test. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, bahwa terdapat pengaruh dari penggunaan metode mind mapping terhadap keterampilan menyimak siswa, dimana nilai rata-rata pretest kelas eksperimen adalah 48,13 dan nilai posttest adalah 82,29 nilainya meningkat sebesar 34,16%. Sementara itu nilai rata-rata pretest untuk kelas control adalah 49,57 dan nilai posttest nya adalah 63,26 nilainya meningkat sebesar 13,69%. Dari data tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa kelompok eksperimen memiliki rata-rata hasil keterampilan menyimak yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol.

Abstract

Menyimak merupakan keterampilan paling awal yang harus dikuasai oleh siswa sebelum keterampilan bahasa yang lainnya. Menyimak merupakan kegiatan kebahasaan yang sangat esensial, sebab menyimak merupakan kegiatan berkomunikasi yang paling mendasar. Tujuan penelitian ini dilaksanakan adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh media audio visual terhadap keterampilan menyimak cerita di kelas IV MIS Mardliatul Islamiyah Medan. Penelitian ini termasuk dalam jenis penelitian kuantitatif yang menerapkan metode Pre- Eksperiment dengan pretest postest control grup design yang melibatkan dua kelas yaitu kelas kontrol dan eksperimen. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes essay yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan teknik statistic paired sample t test. Berdasarkan dari hasil penelitian yang dilakukan oleh peneliti dengan judul “ Pengaruh Media audio Visual Terhadap Keterampilan Menyimak Cerita di Kelas IV Sekolah Dasar “maka dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa ada pengaruh media audio visual terhadap keterampilan menyimak siswa, dimana nilai rata-rata siswa pre-test kelas eksperimen adalah 48,98 dan nilai post-test nya adalah 83,13. Sementara itu nilai rata-rata pre-test untuk kelas kontrol adalah 47,17 dan nilai post-test nya adalah 64,13. Dari data tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa kelompok uji coba atau eksperimen memiliki rata rata hasil keterampilan menyimak yang lebih tinggi.

Abstract

Information literacy among children in the contemporary world has bring about the need to investigate the importance of children libraries in acquiring literacy among library users. The study investigated information literacy skills for effective information resource utilization among users of Children Center Library, University of Nigeria Nsukka. The study used qualitative study design, data was collected using focus group discussion. Content analysis was use for data analysis. Instrument was validated by three (3) experts (two from Department of Library and Information and one from measurement and evaluation unit of the Department of Science Education), University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Findings revealed that children in CCL lacks the ability to recognize the needed information, to search and locate needed materials on catalogues. It also revealed that important skills are needed by the children. The extent of application of information literacy skills among the children is on the average. The barriers to information literacy among the users includes lack of access to information sources in the center library, limited parental involvement, information overload, peer pressure, spending much time on television, poor knowledge of librarians, fear of rejection among mates, language barriers, etc. Solutions include provision of unlimited access to information sources, parents assisting their kids at home, adequate training of librarians, good relationship between the children and staff, giving children sufficient time in the library and language tutoring among others.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of nutrition on mental health and wellbeing in a rural suburb of Nigeria among primary school children. The study was conducted using an ex post facto design. Using a multi stage and random sampling procedure, 197 primary school children were selected from five migrant farmers schools in a rural suburb in Nigeria. The researcher adapted two instruments: Children’s Mental Health Questionnaire (CMHQ) and Children’s Wellbeing Index (CWI). The Children’s Mental Health Questionnaire (CMHQ) is a 15-item questionnaire which measures the children’s level of depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts and behaviour. Also, the Children’s Well-being Index (CWI) measures six dimensions of wellbeing such as self-acceptance, life satisfaction, personal growth, positive inter-personal relations, adaptability, and quality of life. The results showed that nutrition significantly impacted on the mental health of primary school children (β = .915; t = 31.1771; p-value = 0.000). Furthermore, the results showed that nutrition significantly impacted the well-being of primary school children (β = .949; t = 42.014; p-value = 0.000). It is recommended that interventions targeted at alleviating the plights of these vulnerable children should be a top priority for the government and non-governmental organizations. It is also further recommended that laudable government programmes such as ‘school feeding programme’ in Nigeria should be revitalized to supplement the diets of school children who are exposed to malnutrition.

Abstract

The study explored user education practices for effective use of library resources in Delta state's colleges of education thereby addressing a significant gap, using a descriptive survey design with 400 students sampled from a total population of 9,979. Structured questionnaire was used and distributed by researchers with the assistance of two colleagues. assistance owing to proximity. Analysis include percentages, mean scores and standard deviation. Findings indicated insufficient user education provision, diverse delivery modes, lack of modern strategies and ineffective user education which hinders library service delivery. Recommendations include integrating modern strategies like podcasting and web 2.0 into the curriculum, organizing searching tools, mandating computer literacy courses, and conducting practical sessions, orientations, lectures, and seminars. The study concluded that embracing user education fully would foster better user-library relationships in Delta state's colleges of education. The implication is that with effective user education, students’ confusion on the use of library resources and how to navigate the holdings available in those libraries will be eradicated. It was recommended that for library staff to effectively use the resources and services available, user education should be their first concern.

Abstract

This quantitative exploratory survey study examined accounting students’ acceptance of Internet of Things (IoT) technology among a sample of 343 accounting students from Nigerian public universities. The students’ mean age was 26.00±6.48years. Electronic copy of the research instrument was emailed to the students for completion. Statistical analysis of the research data was carried out at 0.05 level of significance. Results revealed significant positive associations of accounting students’ perceived usefulness with perceived ease of use and intention to use IoT technology. Also, results indicate that accounting students’ perceived ease of use correlated significantly with their intention to use IoT technology. The study also showed that there were no significant differences among the accounting students on the acceptance of IoT technology by gender and program type. The interaction of gender and program type did not produce any significant difference in students’ acceptance of IoT technology with regard to perceived usefulness; perceived ease of use; and intention to use. It is suggested that accounting students should be motivated to embrace the opportunities that abound in IoT technology. Finally, the researcher notes that IoT needs to be further addressed in the accounting education, even in advance to its potential mandate for financial reporting. Keywords:, , ;

Abstract

Increasing emphasis is laid on non-cognitive academic skills such as persistence for explaining and improving learners’ success and progress in learning and achievements. Research shows that poor task-persistence in accountable for poor students’ achievements. This study investigated the effect of differentiated instruction on students’ task-persistence in inclusive Education setting. The study further sought to find out the moderating effects of prior-achievement on mathematics task-persistence of students taught with differentiated instruction compared to those in control condition. The study adopted a pretest-posttest control group quasi-experimental research design involving one experimental group and one control group. A total of 158 Senior Secondary II students and 4 mathematics teachers, from 4 intact inclusive classes participated in the study. Three instruments; Academic Task-persistence Scale (ATPS); Open-ended mathematics task (OEMT) and Prior -Achievement Record Sheet (SPMAS) were used for data collection. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Repeated measures Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Findings revealed that differentiated instruction significantly improved academic task-persistence of students compared to control condition. Prior-achievement had significant influence on the students’ persistence in mathematic task, which was mediated by DI. It was concluded in the study that differentiated instruction encourages active participation of students and enhances their task-persistence.

Abstract

Kemampuan berkolaborasi merupakan keterampilan abad 21 yang semakin penting dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan, termasuk dalam lingkungan pendidikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam pembentukan sikap kolaboratif di Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Ulum Kecamatan Sayan. Metode penelitian ini adalah deskriptif analisis dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan observasi non partisipan. Teknik analisis data meliputi tiga alur kegiatan, yaitu kondensasi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan (B. Milles dan Huberman). Secara umum hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa MTs Darul Ulum Kecamatan Sayan telah berhasil membentuk sikap kolaborasi pada siswa melalui tiga hal, yaitu menginternalisasi nilai kolaborasi dalam berbagai momen, menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis proyek/pembelajaran aktif, dan terakhir menciptakan kerja sama tim serta pemberian reward. Tantangan yang dihadapi madrasah cukup berat karena keterbatasan sumber daya manusia dan fasilitas yang kurang memadai. Rekomendasi bagi peneliti madrasah agar melakukan kolaborasi dengan para pemangku kepentingan agar dukungan pengembangan madrasah dalam pembentukan sikap kolaboratif semakin meningkat dan berkelanjutan. Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengembangkan bahan ajar mata pelajaran IPA berupa Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis berpikir kritis pada siswa MI/SD. LKPD yang dikembangan bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan, kepraktisan dan keefektifan LKPD dalam membantu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis pada peserta didik materi fotosintesis. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian Research and Development (Rnd) dngan model 4D yang terdiri dari 4 tahapan yaitu: Define (pendefinisian), design (perancangan), development (pengembangan), dan Disseminate (Penyebaran). Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV A MIN 7 Kota Medan. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa angket lembar kelayakan ahli media dan ahli materi, angket kepraktisan respon guru dan siswa serta uji kelayakan berupa pre test dan post test. Berdasarkan hasil uji kelayakan oleh ahli media dan ahli materi memperoleh skor 93 dengan kategori layak. Hasil uji kepraktisan angket guru dan siswa memperoleh skor 91 dengan kategori sangat praktis. Hasil tes pre test 37,5 dan post test 83,5 menunjukkan kenaikan sebesar 46, sehingga diperoleh hasil N-Gain sebesar 0,74 dengan kategori efektif. Maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa LKPD yang dikembangan sangat layak, sangat praktis serta efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran materi fotosintesis.
