Abstract

Background: World health organization (WHO) rules in the beginning six month the child should be given breast milkonly, so mothers coming back to work should have a good knowledge about appropriate expression of breast milk. The main goal of the research was to determine knowledge and attitude toward expressed breast milk among working mothers in Harari region, Ethiopia, 2021 Methods:A cross-sectional study was done on 385 employed mothers for analysis of data SPSS 22 used. Results: Over all knowledge and attitude about expressed breast milk were 36% and 44%respectivly. Conclusion:  the study showed there was knowledge gap in the expressing and storing of breast milk. More exertion is essential to be done by the health professionals ineducating mothers on way of expression, storing and timings of storage of expressed breast milk of breast.

Abstract

Background: Pregnancy is one of the important phases that will be later by women in general. The presence of prospective children also brings up feelings of happiness especially if always accompanied by family. However different things happen when pregnant women have to work and wander. The goal of the study was to understand the psychological dynamics in women with first pregnancies and work in wander. Methods: This study used qualitative methods with phenomenological approaches. Participants in this study were 2 women with the first pregnancy who worked in wander. The data collection techniques used are in-depth observations and interviews. Result:. This study produced 7 major themes including: 1) Physical and psychological conditions when positively pregnant; 2) Problems during pregnancy; 3) Work environment; 4). Relationships with family; 5) Relationship with husband; 6) Coping during pregnancy; 7) Hope during pregnancy and welcome the birth of the first child. Conclusion:Psychologically pregnant women feel anxiety, worry and stress. Physically there are changes from easily tired, nausea, changes in body shape and sleep disorders appear. Socially, there has been no significant change.

Abstract

Background: HIV testing programs have not been able to reach all populations at risk of HIV transmission. Lodging in adolescents vulnerable to HIV, program coverage is low. The purpose of this article is to identify various models of effective interventions that can improve the coverage of HIV testing among adolescents. Methods: This study is a systematic literature review with a time frame from 2011 to the present, with a geographical reach across the country. Rate the quality of the research methodology conducted by several components of the assessment indicators. Results: By keyword intervention strategies, increase coverage of HIV testing and adolescents 2343 articles obtained from a number of online journals database. Screening with inclusion criteria yielded 94 articles, and by exclusion criteria obtained 13 articles. Generally, coverage of HIV testing interventions in adolescents at increased each strategy. Community-based strategies appear to be more effective based on WHO standards, with coverage achieved around 80%, compared to health facility-based strategies with an average coverage of around 50%. HIV positive number reached 16% of health facilities. While the value of the highest achievements in community based around 12%. Conclussions:Community-based intervention is better to reach teens, but the community component must collaborate well with the ease of access to health facilities for HIV testing services. Development interventions in adolescents need to be equipped with a research method that can provide a strong evidens about the effectiveness of coverage of HIV testing among adolescents. Such research is not yet performed in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that is still a health problem in the work area of the Polara Health Center since 2018 until now in 2020. Hypertension has increased in cases in the last three years. In 2018 8 146 cases of hypertension then increased to 154 cases in 2019 and decreased in 2020. The results of the initial survey showed that 70% of hypertensive patients had unhealthy eating patterns such as consuming fast food containing preservatives, too high salt content in food, excess fat consumption. This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and the incidence of hypertension in the Polara Health Center Work Area ,Konawe Islands Regency. Methods: This research uses analytical research method with Cross Sectional Study approach. The population in this study were all outpatients seeking treatment at the Polara Public Health Center for the period January to February 2021 totaling 268 people, with a total sample of 73 people selected by simple random sampling technique. Results: The results showed that 43.8% of respondents who have a poor diet and have hypertension ,9.6% who do not have hypertension. Then there are 13.7% of respondents who have a good diet but have hypertension ,32.9% who do not have hypertension. The results of statistical tests using the chi square test obtained a p-value of 0.000 and a coefficient of Phi (φ) = 0.531, so the null hypothesis was rejected, meaning that there was a moderate relationship between diet and the incidence of hypertension at Polara Health Center, Konawe Islands Regency. Conclusions: diet has significant impact to hypertension at Polara Health Center, Konawe Islands Regency.

Abstract

Objectives: Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) had experienced physical and psychological complications that affect their daily life, and contribute to poor the quality of life. This study aims to determine the factors that affect the quality of life of people withT2DM based on the SF-36 questionnaire, to improve the factors that can be changed to improve the quality of life of people with T2DM. Methods: This literature review search from 3 databases used including google scholar, PubMed, and the garuda portal with the year of publication of the article in 2015-2021. Some of the literature states similar factors that affect the quality of life of people with T2DM.. Results: Factors that affect the quality of life of people with T2DM, include age, gender, education, complications, and duration of diabetes. Influence is given aspect or the overall value of quality of life Conclusion: The education factor can be improved with the intervention given by peers, so that they can manage T2DM well, and have an impact on improving the quality of life of T2DM patients.

Abstract

Objectives: Adolescent friendly health services are the tailored health services for adolescents in a friendly environment where adolescents can easily and comfortably access and enjoy sexual and reproductive health services. Utilization of such services helps to address sexual and reproductive health problems faced by adolescents and the status of adolescent sexual and reproductive health (SRH) in Nepal is alarming. However, limited studies have been conducted on utilization of Adolescent Friendly Health Services and its associated factors among school adolescents. Thus, this study was carried out to assess the factors associated with utilization of adolescent friendly health services in Sunsari district of Nepal. Methods: This study was a descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out among 502 secondary school adolescents of grade 9 and 10 studying either in public or private schools of Inaruwa Municipality Sunsari District, Nepal. Single stage cluster sampling was followed in this study. Data was collected through administration of pre-tested semi-structured questionnaire during the period of January to March, 2022. Results : Regarding socio-demographic characteristics, majority of the participants were female (56.2%) compared to male (43.8%). Mean age of the participants was 15 years with standard deviation of 1.359 years and most (92.8%) of them followed Hinduism. More than half of the participants (54.0%) belonged to Madhesi ethnicity and most (61.0%) of them were from nuclear family. Likewise, majority (90.6%) of the adolescents were unmarried whereas 5.6 % were in relationship. More than three-fourth of the participants (79.5%) were staying with their parents. Most participants (53.2%) reported having very close relationship with their family. Similarly, majority (70.9%) of the adolescents had not seen the logo of adolescent friendly health services but three fourth (75.5%) of them had heard about adolescent friendly health services. Only 38.5% of participants were known about the availability of adolescent friendly health institution in their locality and more than three fourth (79.9%) of participants said that the time required to reach health facility was less than 30 minutes. Less than one fourth (24.1%) of the participants had felt needs for sexual and reproductive health services. The utilization of adolescent friendly health services among adolescents was low i.e., 14.5% (CI: 0.115-0.176) and more than half (54.8%) of them had used counselling services. Regards of preference, 44.4% of the participants stated that they preferred private health facilities and most of them (79.3%) preferred the health facility nearby their residence. Conclusion: Based on the findings of the study, different intervention programs could be conducted to increase the awareness about adolescent friendly health services among adolescents which may increase its utilization.

Abstract

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the utilization of antibiotics among the patients attending in Silverline Hospital, Lekhnath Marg, Balaju, Kathmandu-44600, Nepal. Methods: A hospital based cross sectional study was conducted in between June to September, 2022. A standard questionnaire was prepared, to conduct the survey based on patient’s demographic data such as which utilization of drug, age, gender, therapy and medication. Results: Out of 111 patients, antibiotics Levofloxacin is highly prescribed to the patients. It is prescribed to 92 (82.90%) people. Cefixime is prescribed for 37 (41.07%) people, Ciprofloxacin is prescribed for 29 (26.12%) patients, Ofloxacin is prescribed for 5 (4.5%) and Nitrofurantoin is prescribed for least for number of people and it is prescribed for 4 (3.6%) patients. Conclusion: Fluroquinolones and Cephalosporins were the most commonly prescribed antibiotics in this study. Culture sensitivity test was carried out only in a limited number of cases, and present findings together with previous ones are suggestive of the need for periodic monitoring of antibiotic sensitivity pattern of the bacterial isolates to provide effective treatment and thereby to make it more cost effective particularly in the developing countries like Nepal. The continuous monitoring and reporting of prescribing pattern of antibiotics will surely help the physicians for effective treatment.

Abstract

Objectives: The implementation of vaccination is followed by the issuance of various vaccination policies to optimize the achievement of vaccination targets at the national, provincial, and district or city levels. At Nambo Health Center, the number of vaccinations on March 30, 2022, has been recorded as many as 586 people, or 78.13% of the total 1st, 2nd, and 3rd vaccinations. This shows that vaccination achievements are still far from the vaccination target. Methods: As many as 750 people, this condition is due to controversy in the community regarding vaccinations, both related to safety, side effects, and the halalness of vaccines, as well as misinformation obtained by the public, resulting in negative perceptions of the COVID-19 vaccine, which makes them hesitant when they are vaccinated against COVID-19. This type of research is descriptive analytic with a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study was 8,327 people, with a total sample of 99 people using the Cluster Random Sampling technique. Data was analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: The results of the study found that there was a relationship between perception and public willingness to vaccinate against COVID-19 in the working area of the Nambo Health Center, X2 value = 8.523. Conclusion : There is a fairly strong relationship between family support and vaccine availability and there is a weak relationship between public perception and vaccine availability in the working area of the Nambo Health Center. It is hoped that health workers in the working area of the Nambo Health Center Will continue to explain to the public that it is important to follow the COVID-19 vaccination. The dose of COVID-19 vaccination has been properly regulated to form an immune system for every community.

Abstract

Objectives: Ship arrival and departure activities have an important influence on the transmission of various vectors which have the potential to infect the ship's crew and passengers. This study aims to determine the factors associated with the presence of vectors on passenger ships. Methods: This type of research is observational. The population is a local passenger ship that anchors at 4 ports in Kendari City, with a population of 44 ships and a sample of 40 ships.with the sampling technique is systematic random sampling. Results: The results of the study used the Chi Square test between sanitary conditions and the presence of cockroaches (15.708>3.841), there was a relationship between sanitary conditions and the presence of rats (14.249>3.841), there was a relationship between temperature and the presence of cockroaches (9.724>3.841), there was a relationship between temperature and the presence of rats (7.901>3.841). Conclusion: There were relationship between sanitary conditions and temperature with the presence of cockroach and rat vectors on passenger ships mooring at the Port of Kendari City. Therefore it is necessary to increase the sanitary conditions and temperature in the room.

Abstract

Objectives: This paper attempts to explain the term inequity in public health based on The Rainbow Model introduced by Dahlgreen & Whitehead (1991) and The Social determinant of Health (SDH) framework of the Commision of Social Determinants of Health). Methods: The author applied a narrative review and examined 29 relevant English literatures and found two themes. Results: First,  Explanation of The Rainbow Model’ introduced by Dahlgreen & Whitehead (1991) and The SDH framework of the Commision of Social Determinants of Health. Second, the perspective of traditional public health emphasizes the proximal determinants while New Public health emphasis on intermediate determinants and distal determinants. Conclusions: Therefore, as a public health professional need to consider about proximal, intermediate and distal determinant of public health issue.
