Abstract

This study aimed to study the effect of stocking density on live weight, carcasses and giblets of broiler in closed houses; and to determine the best stocking density on live weight, carcass and giblet of broiler in a closed house. This research was conducted in April-May 2019 for 28 days with 14 days of treatments period (14-28 days) at PT. Charoen Pokphand (Kandang Bandara 2) located in Bangun Sari hamlet, Way Sari Village, Natar District, Lampung Selatan Regency. This study used a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments, of stocking density of 15 heads/m2 (P1), stocking density of 17 heads/m2 (P2), stocking density of 19 heads/m2 (P3), and stocking density of 21 heads/m2 (P4), with five replications for each treatment. The data obtained were analyzed using analysis of variance at 5% level. The result of the analysis of variance showed that the different stocking density had no significant effect on the live weight, carcasses, and giblet of broiler at 28 days of age in the closed house. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of ammoniation and fermentation of cassava peel on the digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber and the best effect of ammoniation or fermentation on the digestibility of crude protein and crude fiber in thin-tail sheep. This research was conducted in April-August 2019 in the sheepfold of Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The research used 9 male thin-tail sheep, feedstuff, and sheepfold with 9 pens and feed bunk. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisted of 3 replications and 3 treatments. The treatments given were R0 (basal ration + 15% cassava peel), R1 (basal ration + 15% fermented cassava peel) and R2 (basal ration + 15% ammoniated cassava peel). Data were analyzed with analysis of variance and continued with Least Significant Difference Test (LSD) at 5% and or 1% significant level. The results showed that the effect of ammoniation and fermentation treatment of cassava peel had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on crude protein digestibility and crude fiber digestibility. Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of fermentation and ammoniation treatment of cassava peels on ration on dry matter digestibility (DMD) and organic matter digestibility (OMD) in male sheeps. This research was conducted in May--June 2019 in the cage unit and the Laboratory of Nutrition and Animal Feed, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The experimental design applied was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 3 replications. The experimental unit used were 9 sheeps. The treatments given were ration+15% cassava peels without treatment (R0), ration+15% fermented cassava peels (R1), and ration+15% ammoniated cassava peels (R2). The results showed that the use of cassava peel fermentation and ammoniation treatment had a significant effect (P<0.05) on dry matter digestibility (DMD) and organic matter digestibility in male sheep. The average of total digestibility of dry matter and organic matter of ration showed an increase of digestibility. The treatment of fermentation and ammoniation gave the best effect when compared to that without processing. Abstract

This study aimed to determine the presence or absence of subclinical mastitis cases with mastitis test IPB-1 and somatic cell count calculation of the Breed method for dairy milk farm in Tanggamus Regency. The study was conducted in January 2020. Milk specimens were taken from farmers in Gisting Atas and Air Naningan district areas of Tanggamus Regency, Lampung Province. Specimen testing was carried out at the Animal Production Laboratory, Department of Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. Specimens of milk used were obtained from farms in the Gisting Atas region as many as 9 lactation dairy cows and 10 lactation dairy cows from farms in the Air Naningan region. This research method was a survey by taking farm data through interviews, taking milk specimens for mastitis testing with the reagents of IPB-1, taking specimens to be used as preparations which are then tested to somatic cell count using the breed method. The variables observed were the results of mastitis test and the results of somatic cell counts in dairy milk. Data were processed in tabulation and histogram then explained descriptively. The mastitis test results showed that 33% of cow nipples from Gisting Atas farms and 37% of nipples from Air Naningan farms positively had subclinical mastitis. Calculation of the number of somatic cells showed that the average number of somatic cells was 2,341,538 cells / ml for the Gisting Atas area and as much as 821,176 cells / ml for the Air Naningan region. Abstract

Research on repeat breeder in Krui Cattle in Pesisir Selatan District of Pesisir Barat Regency was held on 23 December 2019 until 15 January 2020 with 2 inseminators, 166 Krui Cattles belong to 75 farmers. The purpose of this research were to know: 1) the value of repeat breeder in Krui Cattle in Pesisir Selatan District of Pesisir Barat Regency, and 2) the factors and the magnitude of the factors which disturb repeat breeder of Krui cattle in Pesisir Selatan District of Pesisir Barat Regency. Data was analysed by logistic regression using SPSS (Statistics Package for Social Science) program. The result showed that repeat breeder of Krui cattle in Pesisir Selatan District of Pesisir Barat Regency was 10,24%. Factors that affect the repeat breeder were farmers education that negatively associated with factor value of 5,757; the location of the cage from the farmers house that positively associated with factor value of 0.090; and age of first mating that negatively associated with factor value 1,088. Abstract

Research on calving interval of Krui cattle in Pesisir Selatan District was held on December 2019 until January 2020 with 142 Krui cattle who have given birth more than once and had been inseminated belong to 68 farmers. The purpose of this reserch were to know: 1) calving interval of Krui cattle in Pesisir Selatan District, 2) the factors and magnitude of the factors which disturb calving interval of Krui cattle in Pesisir Selatan District. This research used census method, data obtained was real data that present and accurate in Pesisir Selatan District. Data was analysed by multiple linear regression with SPSS (Statistics Packet for Social Science) program. The results showed that calving interval of Krui cattle in Pesisir Selatan District was 12,53±1,42 month. Factors that affected the value of calving interval in Krui cattle in Pesisir Selatan District were derived from the mating partus that positively associated with factor value of 0,769 and the S/C that positively associated with factor value of 0,912. Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effectiveness of Nigella sativa L. as an immunomodulator given in drinking water with different doses on AI and ND antibody titers in female broilers. This research was conducted in December 2019 -- January 2020 at the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The antibody titers was analyzed at the Lampung Veteriner Virology Laboratory in Lampung. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications; namely drinking water without Nigella sativa L. (control) (P0), drinking water with 36 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa L., drinking water with 72 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa L., and drinking water with 144 mg/kg BW/day Nigella sativa L. The antibody titer data from each treatment and control was arranged in the form of a histogram and simple tabulations and then were analyzed descriptively. The results of this study indicated that female broilers given Nigella sativa L. was effective in increasing Newcastle Disease antibody titers and was not effective in increasing Avian Influenza antibody titers in female broilers. Giving Nigella sativa L. As much as 36 mg/kg BW/day in drinking water could increase the Newcastle Disease antibody titer in female broilers. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the description of the blood profile especially hemoglobin and hematocrit of male broiler chickens that given Nigella sativa (black cumin seed). This research was conducted on 18 December 2019-16 January 2020 at the Integrated Field Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Lampung University and Pramitra Biolab Indonesia Clinical Laboratory, Bandarlampung. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments given in this study were broiler chickens drinking water without Nigella sativa (P0), drinking water with 36 mg/kg BW/day of Nigella sativa (P1), drinking water with 72 mg/kg BW/day of Nigella sativa (P2), drinking water with 144 mg /kg BW/day of Nigella sativa (P3). Data were analyzed descriptively (histogram). The results showed that application of Nigella sativa at a dose of 144mg /kg BW/day (P3) was the optimal dose to increase hemoglobin levels and hematocrit values of male broiler chicken. Abstract

The study aimed to determine the effects of black cumin extract (Nigella sativa) and determine the optimal dose of black cumin extract (Nigella sativa) on total erythrocytes and leukocytes broilers. This research was conducted from December 2019 to January 2020 at the Integrated Field Laboratory Unit of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung. The research data were analyzed at Pramitra Biolab Indonesia Laboratory, Bandar Lampung. The research material was 60 female broilers (strain Cobb CP 707). This study used a Completely Randomized Design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments in this study were drinking water without Nigella sativa (P0), drinking water with Nigella sativa 36 mg/kg BW/day (P1), drinking water with Nigella sativa 72 mg/kg BW/day (P2) and drinking water with Nigella sativa 144 mg/kg BW/day (P3). Data obtained from observations were arranged in the form of simple tabulations and displayed in the form of histograms for descriptive analysis. Research showed that female broilers given black cumin (Nigella sativa) in their drinking water affected on the total erythrocytes which was in the normal range and the total leukocytes which were above the normal range in all treatment. The best dose of black cumin (Nigella sativa) in drinking water for each parameters was 144 mg/kg BW/day for total erythrocytes and 72 mg/kg BW/day for total leukocytes. Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the effect of the percentage of day and night rations on live weight, carcass weight, and giblet weight of medium type roosters in postal cages. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of three treatments with six replications, namely P1: giving rations of 30% day and 70% night, P2: giving rations of 50% day and 50% night, P3: giving rations 70 % day and 30% night. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance at the 5% level. The results showed that the percentage of different day and night rations had no significant effect (P> 0.05) on live weight (694.33 to 699.67 g / head), carcass weight (405.67 to 407.50 g / head), and giblet weight (35.67 to 36.83 g / head). However, the percentage of 30% day and 70% night rations tended to have the best effect on the lowest giblet weight, namely 35.67 g / head for the 7 week old medium type rooster.
