Abstract

The Capitalist Economic System prioritizes individual freedom by maintaining market mechanisms to improve their economy, and trying to obtain maximum profits. On the other hand, there is an Islamic political economy which has a sharia basis by strengthening the role of 'Ukhuwah Islamiyah' so that social inequality does not occur between communities. This research will discuss the differences in the impact of the capitalist economic system from the perspective of Islamic and conventional political economy on the welfare of society. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive method by making literature reviews as the unit to search the main datas. The research findings in this research are that there are significant differences between the capitalist system based on an Islamic perspective and conventional ones based on fundamental values, principles and ultimate goals.

Abstract

The historical interactions among the Malay sultanates/kingdoms across the Malacca Strait offer a fascinating glimpse into the world of international relations beyond the Western lens. Based on the desire to build a non-Western IR theory, this study has highlighted the rich tapestry of cultural diversity, postcolonial struggles, local agency, alternative ideas, and hybridity that characterized the diplomatic landscape of these kingdoms. The struggle for power, strategic cooperation, and regionalism among the Malay kingdoms were deeply rooted in their cultural heritage, challenging the conventional narratives, and showcasing the resilience and adaptability of non-Western societies in shaping their international relations. As we reflect on these historical dynamics, it becomes evident that the lessons from the past continue to resonate in the contemporary global landscape, emphasizing the importance of embracing diverse perspectives and recognizing the agency of all nations in shaping the course of international relations. This study delves into the intricate historical interactions among the Islamic-Malay kingdoms in the Malacca Strait region. Employing a diverse array of non-Western International Relations (IR) theories, the research sheds light on the multifaceted dimensions of the diplomatic landscape in pre-modern Southeast Asia. Through an extensive library research approach, which involved the analysis of classic manuscripts and texts relevant to the topic, this study unveils the nuanced power struggles, strategic alliances, and regional cooperation mechanisms that shaped the Malay kingdoms' international relations. By delving into these historical records, the research provides a comprehensive understanding of how cultural context, postcolonial perspectives, local agency, alternative ideas, and hybridity influenced the diplomatic maneuvers of the Malay kingdoms, challenging conventional Western-centric narratives and showcasing the richness of non-Western IR theories.

Abstract

Epistemic communities were emphasized in constructivism discourse as powerful emerging non-state actors that can drive policies in international domains. The rise of scientific consortiums in policymaking has driven policy directions by using scientific standards. Other realms in international relations also recognize the roles of scientific communities other than creating standards to fix global challenges, such as to serve states’ interests and cooperation tools. This study aims to investigate which realm of epistemic communities are more prevalent. The tools and conditions for influential epistemic communities were also not sufficiently investigated. By using a systematic literature review (SLR) that is overlooked in international relations studies, this paper organized previous databases that use primary data on epistemic communities. The result of this paper shows epistemic communities are the most prevalent in creating scientific standards to address global challenges. Some tools that used were knowledge transfers, training, research collaborations, and networking funding. However, other studies also found that scientific consortiums may be used to legitimize the status quo. In sensitive issues like transboundary pollution, more distrust was found. This study eventually draws some limitations and agenda for future studies.

Abstract

In this article, will discuss Islam and Malays and their relationship with the current of Islamic revivalism. Next, will discuss the discourse on Malay Islamic identity, which is often a topic of discussion among intellectuals, especially Malay Muslims. In the past, it could be said that Islamic civilization was visible in the Middle East and Europe, so in the current era of globalization, many believe that the Islamic revival will emerge from Southeast Asia. Indonesia and Malaysia are the most important parts that have the potential to lead the new Islamic world. In this modern century, there is no longer any optimism that the Middle East, let alone Europe, will be able to maintain the glory of civilization that has been etched on the stage of history. The phenomenon of Islamism will increasingly emphasize the identity of the Islamic community as a political, economic, and even technological force in Southeast Asia. Islamic movements in the form of Islamic revivalism are seen as increasingly showing a much more multireligious, multicultural, moderate, and pluralistic color of Islam that which carries democratic values.

The study aims to identify and analyze the impact of empowering youth in the implementation of green economies, as well as the obstacles they encounter in this process. Employing qualitative and descriptive research methods, this study enables a thorough understanding of the social and economic dynamics that influence youth participation in the green economy. The discussion addresses the challenges faced by local youth, outlining them alongside strategies that could enhance their capacity to contribute effectively. Additionally, the study introduces several case studies from various countries that have successfully implemented green economy models which could be adapted and applied in Indonesia. The research underscores the importance of integrating youth in the planning and execution of green economy policies. Abstract

This study conducted a bibliometric analysis in the field of digital diplomacy. The authors utilized Publish or Perish (PoP) software for descriptive data analysis, using Google Scholar and Crossref as the database sources. The collected data were stored in RIS format using Mendeley for research mapping with VOSViewer. The study found that papers published in reputable journals indexed by Scopus had a more significant impact compared to those in non-Scopus journals. Furthermore, articles published in Scopus-indexed journals tended to receive more citations. The research successfully identified potential research topics for further exploration based on less commonly used keywords in the literature on digital diplomacy. Consequently, this study provides valuable insights into the development of the digital diplomacy field and offers guidance for researchers to explore intriguing areas with the potential for significant contributions.

Abstract

Indonesia, as the world's third-largest cocoa producer, joined the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) in 2012 to improve market access, reduce trade barriers, and strengthen its negotiating position with the European Union in efforts to develop the national cocoa industry and increase exports of processed cocoa to global markets. The aim of this research is to analyze the factors driving Indonesia's joining of ICCO (International Cocoa Organization) and to examine Indonesia's processed cocoa export strategy. This study uses a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis to explore in depth Indonesia's strategy in increasing processed cocoa exports to the European Union through its membership in ICCO. The research results show that Indonesia's joining of the International Cocoa Organization (ICCO) was driven by various strategic factors and followed by the development of a comprehensive processed cocoa export strategy. As a major cocoa producer, Indonesia leverages its ICCO membership to enhance the position and competitiveness of the national cocoa industry in the global market through improved market access, information acquisition, capacity development, and strengthening of diplomatic positions. The export strategy developed includes diplomatic efforts to reduce import tariffs in the European Union, product quality improvement, product diversification and promotion of sustainability certifications. Indonesia actively lobbies, builds alliances with other producing countries, and utilizes ICCO forums for technology transfer.

The revolution of the education system achieved through collaboration between the government and civil society is able to ignite the awareness of women of their rights in political participation. Comprehensive commitment and implementation in Cuba produces a high quality education index and makes Cuba one of the countries with the best education system in the world.
