Abstract

Literacy skills especially reading in Indonesia are still low. To improve reading literacy, literacy training can be done before learning. Literacy reading habits can be done with 15 minutes of reading material before learning begins. The aim of this research is to determine the effect of reading habits on the science learning outcomes of class VII students in the even semester at MTs Negeri 2 Surakarta for the 2023/2024 academic year. This research method is a quantitative descriptive method. The type of research is quasi-experimental research with purposive sampling technique. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews, tests, questionnaires and documentation. Based on the results of data analysis that has been carried out using the linearity test, it gets a significant value of 0.734 > 0.05, so there is a linear relationship between the two research variables and the results of the Mann Whitney test, a significant value of 0.0007 < 0.05, meaning there is a difference in the average of the samples. second. So it can be concluded that there is a significant influence between the habit of reading on the science learning outcomes of class VII students at MTs. Negeri 2 Surakarta Academic Year 2023/2024

Abstract

The change in the Merdeka Curriculum has made learning tools in various subjects including biology in class X inadequate. This study aims to determine the feasibility of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) based LKPD (student worksheet) accompanied by Science Process Skills (KPS) on the material of environmental changes in class X. The development model refers to the research and development (R&D) method with 5 stages. The stages are potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, and design revision. The research instruments used were instrument validation questionnaires and validation sheet questionnaires. The validated aspects are the format, content, language, and benefits/usability of LKPD. Validation was carried out by 5 validators. Analysis of validation results using face validity Aiken's V with criteria V = 0.87. The results showed that the LKPD met the valid criteria with a total average of 0.947. It can be concluded that problem-based learning-based LKPD accompanied by science process skills is declared valid and ready to proceed to the trial stage.

Abstract

Active learning is optimizing the use of all the potential possessed by students, so that all students can achieve satisfactory learning outcomes according to their personal characteristics. In this mini-research task, the author discusses active learning strategies using the card short method. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of active learning strategies using the card short method on student learning outcomes. The method used in this study is the method of direct observation or survey in Class XI IPA 3 SMAN 2 Percut Sei Tuan. Data collection techniques used pretest and posttest and the results showed that there were differences in the effect of active learning strategies using the cardhort method with the blood circulatory system material. The card sort learning method with the technique of the games is expected to help students understand the lesson and understand the classification of the circulatory system material. Based on the results of research conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Percut Sei Tuan, there are differences in the influence of active learning strategies using the cardshort method with blood circulatory system material.

Abstract

The objectives in this study were: 1) to improve learning activities in Natural Sciences in class VIII B students of SMP Warga Surakarta, 2) to improve learning outcomes, especially learning outcomes in Natural Sciences through contextual learning methods modeling techniques about the Human Excretory System in class VIII B students of SMP Warga Surakarta. The method used is action research method. The research was conducted on class VIII B students of SMP Warga Surakarta in the 2022/2023 academic year, as many as 27 students consisting of 13 boys and 14 girls. The data collection techniques were carried out by observing student and teacher activities, tests, partner teacher responses, and monitoring classroom observations. From the assessment test of Natural Science learning outcomes for each cycle of class action always increases, namely; the percentage of pre-cycle KKM achievement is 29.62%, cycle I is 44.44% and in cycle II it becomes 100%. Based on student responses in the implementation of learning using modeling techniques, it becomes more fun, easier to understand, makes students want to be more active and creative, students can find or interpret more freely, and is not confusing. So that by using the modeling method in learning Natural Sciences can help students in increasing activity and learning outcomes in Natural Sciences.

Abstract

This research aims to see the influence of the PjBL model for making dioramas on: (1) Creative Thinking Ability; (2) Curiosity on biodiversity material. This research uses a quasi-experimental quantitative research design, using a group design posttest-only. The sample in this study was class VIIB (control) with a total of 30 students and class VIIG (experiment) with a total of 32 students at SMPN 3 Sukoharjo, Central Java, Indonesia in the 2022/2023 academic year. Data collection on creative thinking abilities was carried out using the test method esssay and for curiosity using a non-test in the form of a questionnaire. The results of the research state that: (1) students' creative thinking abilities using the PjBL model have a significant effect compared to students using the conventional model taught at school. The average score for each class was 73.20 (experimental); 63 (control); (2) curiosity (curiosity) with the PjBL model also has a significant effect compared to students who use the conventional model taught at school with an average score of 70.97 (experiment); 64.91 (control).

Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic has an impact on student learning outcomes in the practicum of the invertebrate systematics course.The aim of this research is to determine the learning outcomes of post-pandemic invertebrate systematics practicum for students in semester 5, academic year 2022/2023. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. The sample used in this research was 5th semester students with a total of 5 classes totaling 97 students. The sampling technique used was the Population Sampling Technique. Data was obtained from a list of TKP scores, report scores, response scores and student perceptions submitted using a Google Form questionnaire. The results obtained by Biology Education students in the Invertebrate Systematics Practicum were based on TKP scores of 45.4% in the high category, 49.5% medium and 5.2% low. Based on the report value, 96.9% is in the high category, 2.0% is medium and 1.0% is low. Based on the response value, 3.1% were in the high category, 28.9% were medium and 68.0% were low. And based on the results of the student perception questionnaire, it can be interpreted that post-pandemic learning has had a positive impact, including being able to carry out practicums in the laboratory and improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between student learning motivation and student perceptions of teacher learning with student learning outcomes. The research method used is a survey method with correlational analysis. The population used was students in class VIII of the Special Science Class Program at MTs Negeri 2 Surakarta. The sampling technique is a sample population with a sample of 83 students, data collection techniques are carried out using questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The results of this study show that there is no significant relationship between student learning motivation and learning outcomes and a correlation of 0.000 (0%). There is also no significant relationship between student perceptions of teacher learning and student learning outcomes and the correlation is -0.124 (1.5%). And there is no significant relationship between learning motivation and student perceptions of teacher learning on learning outcomes and the correlation is 0.136. The contribution of learning motivation and student perceptions of teacher learning to student learning outcomes was 1.84% and 98.16% influenced by other factors not researched. The results of this research indicate that student learning motivation and student perceptions of teacher learning do not improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Problem-based learning (PBL) is an instructional model that utilizes problems as a starting point for acquiring and integrating new knowledge. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on improving students' learning outcomes on the topic of light properties in eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar during the 2022/2023 academic year. This research employed a quasi-experimental approach using a Randomized Control-Group Posttest-Only Design. Data collection methods included the administration of questionnaires, pretests and posttests, and oral interviews. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the Problem-Based Learning model significantly influences students' learning outcomes on the topic of light properties. This is indicated by the t-test results, where tcount = 2.064 and ttable = 2.006 with df = 52. Since tcount > ttable (2.064 > 2.006), the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. These findings demonstrate that the Problem-Based Learning model has a significant positive effect on students' learning outcomes in the topic of light properties among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Karanganyar during the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

One of the 21st century thinking skills is creative thinking skills. Students as prospective educators are required to learn and develop self-actualization in solving problems scientifically. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Remap STAD learning models towards the empowerment of students' creative thinking skills. This research is a quasy experimental study and uses a Non equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population is all students of class XI IPA SMAN 4 Malang, totaling 234 students. A sample of 102 students was selected based on the equality test to determine the experimental class, positive control, and negative control. The instrument used used essay tests in accordance with indicators of creative thinking skills and the results were analyzed using the one-way anacova test. The results showed that the Remap STAD learning model effectively empowers students' creative thinking skills. The implication of the research conducted is to train students to think metaphorically to produce unique ideas or concepts as a form of achieving creative thinking skills. It is recommended that educators integrate the Remap STAD model in biology learning to foster student engagement and stimulate higher-order thinking processes necessary for solving contextual problems in daily life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the SPIRIT model of problem-based biology learning (SSIPBL) on the respiratory system material at Muhammadiyah 1 Sragen High School in the 2024/2025 academic year and to determine whether this model can improve students' learning outcomes. The research type used is quantitative with an experimental design. Data collection was carried out through learning outcome tests, observations, and interviews. Based on the t-test results, a significance value (sig.) of 0.198 was obtained, which is greater than the 0.05 value, indicating that there is no significant difference between the experimental group using the SSIPBL model and the control group using conventional learning methods. Factors affecting the ineffectiveness of this model's implementation include teacher readiness, limited time, lack of student involvement, and inadequate infrastructure. The results of this study show that the implementation of the SPIRIT SSIPBL model on the respiratory system material does not significantly improve students' learning outcomes. Therefore, it is recommended to improve supporting aspects, such as teacher training, better time management, and increasing student motivation and involvement in problem-based learning. Indicates that the implementation of the SPIRIT model of Socio-Scientific Problem-Based Learning (SSIPBL) can significantly improve students' learning outcomes on the respiratory system material senior High School for the. These results suggest that SSIPBL has the potential to enhance students' understanding through a problem-based approach that connects scientific phenomena with social issues, and its implementation in the field met expectations.
