Abstract

The aim of the research was to analyze whether there is any effectiveness of online game in teaching vocabulary of the first grade of MTsN 1 Kediri. This research was quantitative research approach, the research design was quasy experimental by non equivalent group posttest-only. This research used two classes which became experimental group (VII C) and control group (VII E). The experimental group was taught by using online game, whereas control group was taught without online game. The instruments used in the research was multiple choice test. The procedures of using online game in teaching vocabulary are; preparation, main activities and post activity. The reasearch took 4 meetings and 1 meeting to do test. The result is online game in teaching vocabulary is effective. It can be proven by the result of t-test: the mean score of experimental group (M = 88.29) was higher than control group (M = 83.92), and independent-samples t-test which values of the sig. 2-tailed was 0.29% or 0.029 and 0.029 < 0,05. This result suggests that the use of media online game in teaching vocabulary is interesting way to learn English.

Abstract

The aim of research is to know the effectiveness of Number Head Together (NHT) in Teaching Reading Comprehension at tenth grade students of MAN 4 Kediri. Quantitative post-test only control group design used the approach to design this research. The subject of the research is tenth grade student of MAN 4 Kediri. The subject were X MIA 1 class as experimental class which consist of 36 students and X MIA 2 class as control class which consist of 36 students. To get data, the researcher use test. The data analyzed by using t- test can be found with SPSS 16.0. The mean score of students’ reading comprehension in experimental class belongs to very good category. Its score 83.19. Meanwhile, the mean score in control class belongs to good category with mean score 77.22. The result of statistical computation value of the independent sample t-test is 3.050 with t table within degree of freedom (df) 70 at 5% significant level is 2.647. It can be seen that t-statistic value is higher than t-table. Because there is significant increase in student’s reading comprehension after doing treatment, it can be said that number head together in reading comprehension of the tenth grade students of MAN 4 Kediri in academic year 2018/2019 is effective. So the alternative hypothesis was accepted.

Abstract

Non – formal education is one of the solution to help the student learning the subject.One of non – formal education is English course to complete the studying in formal education, to give more knowledge, human skill, and to be able to develop the ability, improving the skill and independence. When the students cannot get maximal in speaking English at school, they can join some courses that is focusing on English. LANGUAGE CENTER English Course has known well to make students able to speak English because they will be helped by 100 teachers who is professional in English. The Implemntation of teaching speaking program at LANGUAGE CENTER English Course are including teacher’s preparation, material taught, teachers’ evaluation in learning, and students’ response toward the teacher in teaching speaking .The research used descriptive qualitative as research design. The subject was 13 students of basic speaking class at LANGUAGE CENTER English Course. The method used in collecting data was interview, observation and documentation. Interview and observation were used for collecting data on teacher’s preparation, material taught, teachers’ evaluation in learning, and students’ response toward the teacher in teaching speaking at LANGUAGE CENTER English Course and documentation used for collecting picture and video that we did research. The result of research is to show that teacher’s preparation, material taught, teacher’s evaluation and students’ response in teaching speaking program at LANGUAGE CENTER English Course was very good.

Abstract

This research is aimed to know whether there is significant correlation between grammar and vocabulary mastery toward speaking skill among the seventh grade students of MTsN 1 Kediri. The design of this research was descriptive quantitative. The sample was 194 students. . The research instruments in this research were tests and questionnaire. The result was there is significant correlation between grammar and vocabulary mastery toward speaking skill among the seventh grade students of MTsN 1 Kediri. The value of correlation between X1 and Y is 0,46, then for correlation between X2 and Y is 0,234. It is recommended for the teachers to pay attention to the students’ speaking skill.

Abstract

The study is aimed to describe the teaching learning process of Syntax Class at Kresna English Language Institute. Those are including of:The teaching learning process, the English teacher’s problem, the problem solving of teacher, the student’s response, and the appropriate material for student.This research design used descriptive qualitative. The subjects were a teacher and 25 students of Syntax Class. The methods were observation, interview, and documentation. Observation used for collecting data on the teaching learning process that consisted of: lesson plan, the material, method, and media that the teachers used in teaching. Interview used for collecting data on the teachers’ preparation, students’ response, and the teachers’ evaluation in teaching learning process. Documentation was used to collect data about a record of events that have passed. This research had some results: (1the teaching learning process was running well by some phases such as : preparation, implementation and evaluation, (2) the problems of the teacher happened in implementation and in evalution phases,(3) in implementation, the problem faced by some advices and even punishment to the student and in evaluation the problem solved by giving motivation and additional duty,(4) there were more positive responses than negative responses from the students, ( 5 ) the appropriate material in this class was Syntactic stucture and sentence analysis. Theconclusion of this reseach was that the teaching learning process ran well, but there were some activities of teacher that were not suitable with lesson plan.

Abstract

This article aims to know the Effectiveness of Written Corrective Feedback in Teaching Writing Cause Effect at the Eleventh Grade of SMAN 1 Grogol Kediri. This research was quantitative experimental design, more specifically uses true experimental by posttest only controls class design to analyze the data. The data were analyzed and interpreted by means of SPSS 23.0 version. The study reveals that the effectiveness of written corrective feedback has a significant effect on students’ writing achievement in term of content of the text: content, organization, vocabulary, language use and mechanic. The result of students’ writing score from control class and experimental class demonstrated a significant difference. It is found that the experimental class outperformed the control class in writing achievement with t = 9.021, df = 66 and P = .000 and 95% Confidence Interval ranging from 9.138 to 14.332. From the sig. (2-tailed) we can see the P is lower than 5% (0.000 < 0.005). So, it can be concluded that the value is significant in 5% significant level. Thus, the significance different between the mean value of both class is found.

Abstract

Webtoon is a type of digital comic or comic application. The research aimed to find out the teaching of speaking by using Webtoon at Choice English course Pare Kediri. The design used is descriptive qualitative. The data collection method were interview, observation, documentation, questionnaire and filed note. The result of this research showed that the teaching of speaking by using Webtoon at Choice English course Pare Kediri had been supported by curriculum but it had not been documented, it also had been supported by syllabus and lesson plan, the material was from Webtoon, and the techniques used were retelling story and role play. The evaluation of this program was taken on Saturday at the last week by calling the students one by one to deliver a speech based on the tittle they took in the lottery. The students’ response was known that students were very active, happy and they enjoyed the program. The result of the students’ after getting this program was there were 8 (40 %) students got A (Excellent), 11 (55 %) students that B (Very Good), 1 (5 %) student got C (Good), and no student got C (Average) or D (Poor).

Abstract

In this research, the researcher examined the correlation between frequency of listening and vocabulary mastery toward listening ability at first grade students of MAN 4 Kediri. The aim of the research was to find out (1) the students’ frequency of listening, (2) the students’ vocabulary mastery, (3) the students’ listening, (4) the significant simultaneous relationship between frequency of listening and vocabulary mastery toward listening ability, and (5) the significant partial relationship between frequency of listening and vocabulary mastery toward listening ability at the first grade students at MAN 4 Kediri. This research can be categorized as Quantitative correlation. The technique to collect data was the questionnaire and test. The questionnaire used to collect the data of frequency of listening and the test was for collecting the data of vocabulary mastery and listening ability. The instrument contained of 20 questions for each variable. In this case, the first grade students of science classes, totally 136 students, were taken as population and 100 students as sample by Sloven formula. The result of students’ frequency of listening is that 75% or 75 students are in good category. For the students’ vocabulary mastery, there are 43% or 43 students who are in very good category. The students’ listening ability is 30% or that 30 students are in good category. To find out the correlation between three variables in this research used the SPSS 15,0 version. The result of significant level is 0,731 (a). It is more than 5% significant level. It means that there is no significant correlation between frequency of listening and vocabulary mastery toward listening ability at the first grade students of MAN 4 Kediri. So, the alternative hypothesis was rejected.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were (1) to describe the student’s skill of recount text in an experimental class taught by using Edraw Mind Map, (2) to describe the students’ skill of control class without being taught Edraw Mind Map, and (3) to investigate whether there is a significance in teaching writing skill of recount text between experimental and control class at tenth grade of MAN 4 Kediri. During the research quantitative approach of true experimental was used as the research design. This research used two classes which became experimental class (X Social Science Program 1) which was taught by using Edraw Mind Map Application and control class (X Natural Science Program 4) which was not taught by using Edraw Mind Map Application. The population was the first year students of MAN 4 in academic year of 2019/2020. Out of this population, 60 students were taken as sample. There were two classes, each of which consisted of 30 students. The data were collected by using writing test and questioners.

Abstract

This study aims at knowing how effectiveness of oral pair work technique in teaching speaking at DEC. The research design which is used in this research was descriptive quantitative experimental with two groups of experimental class and control class. The subjects of this research were the holiday program of SMA A and SMA B. The instruments used were post-test. The data gotten were statistically computed by SPSS.The result reveals that experimental group outperformed the control group with significance value 0.2% or 0.002 at either 5% or 1% significancy level. So, it can be concluded that teaching speaking by using oral pair work technique is effective.
