Abstract

Recently in Indonesia, the number of newspapers keep declining while at the same time, more online media emerge. One of the newspapers that has stopped publishing was the legendary evening newspaper Sinar Harapan, which stopped printing in 2016. This study aims to analyze the “death” of the evening newspaper Sinar Harapan from the perspective of Niklas Luhmann’s autopoietic system. Luhmann considers mass media as an autopoietic system that must have certain characteristics in order to survive. This research using case study methods with history perspective. The data were collected using the literature study method. This research shows that the evening newspaper Sinar Harapan as an autopoietic system has to stop operating because of the complexity of the environment that Sinar Harapan cannot compensate for. Although Sinar Harapan has carried out an evolutionary process on the selection stage, it has failed to stabilize itself. On the other hand, Sinar Harapan also failed to carry out its function as a media system to always present novelties irritating the social system.

Abstract

Coffee business industry is growing rapidly due to changes in the lifestyle of the Indonesian people. Based on research, coffee shops in Indonesia as of August 2019 reached 2,950 coffee shops. The breaker of the contemporary coffee concept influenced by the Korean Wave is Kopi Chuseyo. The purpose of this research is to identify the Public Relation strategies used by Kopi Chuseyo in building its image and to see its image in the viewpoints of consumers. The research method used is qualitative, in the form of a case study with a descriptive analysis approach. Data collection techniques used are observation, documentation and interviews. The results showed that Kopi Chuseyo managed to get a good corporate image in the eyes of the community by involving the community, organizing events, and using social media. Kopi Chuseyocan be categorized into five types of brand images, namely mirror image, current image, wish image, corporate image, and multiple image. These types are responded by customers after going through the stages of cognition, perception, attitude and motivation.

Abstract

Muslim women who were initially seen as women who focused on religion, in this film showed that Muslim women are also capable of being an academic and have other activities that tend to be done by men. This study aims to determine how the identity of modern Muslim women is shown through film media. This research uses Roland Barthes semiotic analysis method. This semiotic analysis focuses on reading texts through the stages of reading denotative meanings, connotative meanings, and then connecting with myths in analyzing the signs that are shown through scenes in the film. The results of this study indicate that Muslim women played by Fisya presented that women have the freedom to choose fashion and activity. Muslim women's fashion shown through the character Fisya is adjusted through the activities she does, thus showing that Muslim women's fashion can adjust to the situation. In addition, the activity also shows that Muslim women also have the freedom to determine what they want, starting in terms of academics and hobbies.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to gain clarity on the perception process of male students group in Malaysia in seeking mental health care. This study conducted interviews with participants, then the results of the interviews were analysed to determine the process of intrapersonal communication related to mental health care issues. The results found that there are three themes which are the perceptual processes in intrapersonal communication. The conclusions of this study are theoretical implications for academics in the field of intrapersonal communication and practical implications for society regarding the issue of mental health care.

Abstract

The internet era's evolution now compels all aspects of life to converge. Literacy, for example, has always been tightly linked to literature. The use of libraries as a storefront for literacy resources is also a cause of concern. As a result, digitization of cooperatives has become a top priority in promoting literacy, particularly among cooperatives and small businesses. This study focused on the digitization process at the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small Businesses Library. Observation of participants was used, with the author acting as a recording device in the process. Planning, digitalization, and finalization are the three key stages of the digitization process. A traditional library can now be accessed online, albeit with limited coverage. It is open to the entire public.

Abstract

This study describes the implementation of public policies on the use of information and communication technology. This qualitative study applies a virtual ethnographic approach. The analysis is carried out by observing website and media pages at four levels; space, document, object, and experimental. The results of this study indicate that the Population and Civil Registration Office of Surabaya has optimized the official website, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. Optimization of social media gives convenience for all citizens from various backgrounds to access public services. This policy reduces the use of paper which means it is environmentally friendly. Utilization of media in the network makes services more transparent and accountable. All processes are neatly documented and monitored.

Abstract

Downy Premium Parfum is one of the advertisements that presents the figure of a Muslim woman. The advertise-ment presents Laudya Cynthia Bella as an actress who plays a muslim woman. This study uses representation theory to present the figure of Muslim women in social space. The purpose of this research is to determine the meaning formation process that occurs in Downy Premium Parfum advertisements in constructing the image of muslim women. This research uses a qualitative method with semiotic analysis techniques by Roland Barthes. The results of this study found that the Downy Premium Parfum advertisement tried to represent the fragrance through visual flowers. This flower sign is then attached to the actor to strengthen the image of Muslim women in the social space. In the end, the advertisement stated that women could appear on a par with men in the social space, namely the workspace.

Abstract

This article examines the News Outlining Examination of the shooting of 6 FPI troops in Web-based Media detik.com and tribunnews.com 7 and 13 December 2020 versions. This exploration utilizes a valuable worldview and media portrayal utilizing the Zhong Dan Dish and Gerald M. Kosicki. Detik.com and tribunnews.com are public web-based media, which are a lot of popular by Indonesians. From the aftereffects of this study, it was found that report from the two internet based media had different outlining or perspectives, especially the pros and cons of the police.

Abstract

If we talk about radio, our minds are probably will be focused on audio-based electronic media that plays favorite music or hot news was happening today. Whether we realize or not, these broadcasts maybe can we take to talk with family or friends. Such as high price of cooking oil, or information about price of pertalite. Our chats in the cheap coffee shops untill to expensive coffee shops maybe it could be the cause of student demonstrations, or the formed communities because they have a common goal. That is radio, although nowadays it has been replaced by vlogs, tiktok, or podcasts on youtube, but at least we feel its existence, even at environmental security posts or in vehicles playing audio tapes.

Abstract

This research is aimed at understanding the text structure and the moral value of Legenda Gunung Pinang and their application as teaching material.  Qualitative descriptive method is applied in this research. The analysis of the text structure shows that there are theme, characters, story board, point of view and message. The way how to apply the Legenda Gunung Pinang as the use of local literature for teaching literature appreciation in SMK can be seen in the syllabus and the lesson plan. The use of Legenda Gunung Pinang as the teaching material for literature appreciation can increase the students’ love to their local literature and culture and it is also used as a media for applying the noble values of the culture in a legend.
