Abstract

This article discusses the selection of Instagram as a promotional medium in introducing the Creative Media State Polytechnic Publishing study program and publishing works. Information such as photos or videos of work products, pictures of learning activities, and other activities added to the Instagram account. This information can be seen by followers and can get a response or input directly. The study used qualitative research methods with a descriptive approach. The theory used is New Media and Internet theory, Social Media theory, and Marketing Communication theory. The study results explain that the use of Instagram significantly facilitates the spread of messages quickly and reaches more people. The content on the Instagram account @prodi.penerbitan.polimedia follows the institution's image but still has to be packaged in an attractive style and design and has new value.

Abstract

Androgynous groups are a minority group still considered deviant in Indonesia as a person's gender is identified based on appearance. The study was conducted to see how one androgynous individual, Jovi Adhiguna, represented his resistance to gender stereotypes through his Instagram. This qualitative study applies the critical discourse analysis from S.Jager and F.Maier in analyzing the content on @joviadhiguna Instagram account as the data. This study uses Stuart Hall's representation theory. The results showed that Jovi visualized his androgynous style and expressed a resistance form to gender stereotypes in criticism conveyed through Instagram content.

Abstract

Language variation is the non-uniformity in one language. This study discusses variations in Indonesian on TikTok social media. TikTok is now a popular social media for all ages, especially youth. The purpose of this study is to describe language variations on TikTok social media. This study was studied using a sociolinguistic approach, the theory of linguistic variation. This research is descriptive qualitative, the data analyzed is in the form of speech in which there are variations in Indonesian regional dialects. The data source in this study was obtained from the social media TikTok. The results of this study indicate that there are language variations in terms of speakers in the form of Jakarta dialect, Betawi dialect, and Surabaya dialect; while the language variation in terms of formality uses a casual variety.

Abstract

The graphic novel "Palestine" is one of the graphic novel documentaries about the conflict in Palestine. The purpose of this research is to understand the process of meaning 'marks' in the graphic novel. The method used is qualitatively descriptive. The results suggest that the graphic novel "Palestine" may never know whether the "mark" can change things, but Joe Sacco's graphic novel "Palestine" was recognized as the best novel at the American Book Award in 1996, although at the same time it was denounced by the Israeli media and public.

Abstract

A company can use issue management theory as a solution to overcome problems in the form of negative issues. Last August, KFC was hit by the issue of pork in its food content. This study discusses how KFC designs strategies to address these issues. This strategy also includes how issue management is implemented by KFC. This research uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques of interviews and supported by literature review. To determine the research informants, the researchers chose the Operational Teams at KFC Outlets in Surabaya-Sidoarjo with the consideration they understood the issue from both sides, both from the KFC side and from the consumers. The result of this study is that KFC rejects all issues that say its food contains pork. KFC has also carried out the issue management stage by clarifying the rumors and strengthened by a statement from the MUI and a halal certificate.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how acceptable a subtitle is for a film with a PG-Rating. This study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative research approach. The object of this study is a popular film, watched by children. The human instrument is used as a research instrument; the researchers determine study focus, data sources, obtain data, analyze data, interprets data, and draws conclusions. The data is from the subtitle of the film 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' on 'Netflix.' The note-taking approach is used to collect the data from subtitle texts, ensuring that the data is correct. The data includes subtitle timing, characters, source language, and target language. The data is analyzed based on the measurement of a translation's level of acceptability. This study findings show that some translations in the film 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' are still unacceptable and less acceptable for a PG-Rating film with child audiences.

Abstract

This study was conducted to describe the role of the National Library (Perpustakaan Nasional) in improving literacy culture during the Covid-19 pandemic through the analysis of the SWOT+PEST communication strategy. With the desk research analysis method, data and information from observational information sources from online media and books combined with a description of the SWOT+PEST analysis, it was found that libraries can be said to play an important role in increasing public information literacy. The achievement of a strong literacy democracy can lead to a stronger development of Indonesia.

Abstract

The rise of consumerism in society gave rise to resistance movements, one of which was the lifestyle of minimalism. The term minimalism previously used in the field of art and building, which is synonymous with modesty, is now adopted into a lifestyle. With the concept of œliving with less adherents of this lifestyle practice a sufficient style, where minimalist only have things they really need. Trough YouTube, minimalist not only promote, but also form a discourse among minimalist and their audience. Using a phenomenological approach, researches get discourse formed not only as resistance movements, but also become an identity, prestige and mark social privilege for their adherents. This lifestyle is no longer a resistance, but just another form of consuming system.

Abstract

International Cultural Center (ICC) Pandaan is one of the resorts and tourist attractions located in Pandaan, East Java. As a resort and tourist attraction, ICC Pandaan has goals to be achieved and the value of benefits provided to its visitors. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic, ICC Pandaan experienced a decrease in the number of visitors, so ICC implemented a strategy to survive during this pandemic. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with data collection techniques conducted through interviews and observations. The result of this research is that ICC Pandaan applies the Three Ways Strategy concept which is carried out effectively by seeking to give messages to the audience by starting to dive into the digital realm, where there has been a rapid increase during the pandemic.

Abstract

Puppet animation is a modification of the appearance of puppet shows into a learning medium, especially for anecdote text material. This study aims to determine the utilization of puppet animation media for students anecdote writing skills. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were 36 anecdote texts written by students of Grade X Social Science 3 of the State Senior High School 11 of South Tangerang City, Academic Year 2020/2021. Data collection techniques in this research use four ways, such as observation, tests, interviews, and documentation. The assessment aspects used in this study are content, structure, language, as well as spelling and mechanics.This results indicate that there was a positive influence and anecdote writing skills of students using puppet animation media with an average grade of 83, which is well qualified. This proves that in general, students are capable in writing anecdote text well with puppet animation media .
