Aksara merupakan jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Batanghari dan Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Batanghari. Jurnal ini merupakan jurnal penelitian yang mempublikasikan artikel hasil penelitian asli, studi kepustakaan, dan tulisan terkait dengan fokus pada kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, kajian bahasa dan kajian sastra. Semua artikel ditinjau oleh 4 orang reviewer, 2 orang reviewer internal dan 2 orang reviewer eksternal. Jurnal ini diterbitkan dua kali dalam satu tahun setiap bulan April dan bulan September, jurnal aksara ini dapat diakses pembaca, jurnal aksara ini berisi hasil penelitian pustaka maupun hasil penelitian lapangan. Jurnal ini meliputi beberapa ranah Ilmu sebagai berikut: 1. Kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia meliputi bidang pembelajaran keterampilan berbahasa, pembelajaran linguistik, pembelajaran semantik, pembelajaran pragmatik, pembelajaran wacana, pembelajaran sosiolinguistik, pembelajaran psikolinguistik serta pembelajaran puisi, pembelajaran prosa, pembelajaran fiksi, pembelajaran drama. 2. Kajian Bahasa Indonesia meliputi: fonologi, morfologi, sintaksis, analisis wacana, semantik, pragmatik, sosiolinguistik, psikolinguistik, bahasa dan budaya, dialektologi, dokumentasi bahasa, serta bidang keilmuan lain yang berkaitan dengan kajian kebahasaan. 3. Kajian Sastra Indonesia meliputi: sastra lisan dan sastra modern berupa kajian puisi, prosa fiksi dan drama.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the text structure of the novel and the form of gender injustice experienced by Haia's character in the novel Laut Tengah by Berliana Kimberly. The method used is qualitative, with data sources in the form of novel text. This research focuses on analyzing three main aspects, namely the analysis of the novel's text structure in the aspects of character and characterization and perspective. While the forms of gender injustice experienced by Haia's character are stereotypes, violence, and multiple roles. This research uses a feminist literary criticism approach because Haia's character in this novelstruggles to deal with the conflict of gender injustice she experiences. In this novel, Haia's character clearly experiences gender injustice by her family and surroundings

Abstract

This research aims to describe the use of forms of religiosity in the film Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah. The research method employed to collect and analyze the data is a qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study consist of dialogue utterances containing the dimensions of belief, religious practices or rituals, religious feeling or experience, religious knowledge, and the dimension of effect or application found in the film Air Mata di Ujung Sajadah. The findings of this research indicate that there are utterances related to five forms of religiosity in the film. These five forms are: (1) the dimension of belief, (2) the dimension of religious practices or rituals, (3) the dimension of religious feeling or experience, (4) the dimension of religious knowledge, and (5) the dimension of effect or application. From these five forms of religiosity, a total of 136 utterances containing elements of religiosity were identified. The most dominant aspect found in the film is the religiosity dimension of feeling or experience, with 71 utterances, while the least dominant is the dimension of belief, with only 6 utterances.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the Pagar Pangulu Balang manuscript (Inventory No. 07.143), one of the significant collections at the North Sumatra State Museum, through philological and historical contextual approaches. The manuscript contains teachings, advice, and customary leadership structures that reflect the socio-political system of the Batak community in the past. The research employs a descriptive-qualitative method based on philological analysis, including inventory, physical description, transliteration, textual normalization, and the preparation of a critical standard edition. Additionally, the study explores the historical context of the manuscript’s origin and its function within traditional social structures. The results show that Pagar Pangulu Balang is not merely a historical document but also conveys social values, customary law, and local leadership ethics. Linguistically, the manuscript employs a variant of the Batak language with distinct lexical characteristics, rich in metaphors and traditional symbols. Historically, the manuscript functioned as a guide for village governance and the relationship between the pangulu balang (customary leaders) and the community. These findings highlight the importance of preserving local manuscripts as sources of cultural knowledge and collective identity in traditional societies of North Sumatra. This study is expected to serve as a foundation for further research in philology, cultural anthropology, and the preservation of Indonesian manuscript heritage

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the use of suffixes in the novel "Diary Cinta" by Tia Lestari Sidabutar. The main focus of this research is to identify the types of suffixes used in the novel and explain the function and meaning produced by these suffixes in the Indonesian context. Through a morphological approach, this research examines suffixes which play a role in the formation of nouns, adjectives and verbs in novel texts. The research method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques in this research are reading techniques, note-taking techniques, and processing story content. The analysis carried out is as follows; 1) listening to the reading, 2) analyzing the suffixes in the novel "Diary of Love" by Tia Lestari Sidabutar, 3) grouping the suffixes according to their type, 4) analyzing the meaning and function of the suffixes in the novel "Diary of Love" by Tia Lestari Sidabutar. The research results show that suffixes have an important role in enriching meaning, expanding word variations, and describing the characteristics of the language used by the author. This research also reveals how suffixes contribute to creating atmosphere and enriching language style in literary works.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the learning planning of short story texts with the Merdeka Curriculum in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar, (2) describe the implementation of learning short story texts with the Merdeka Curriculum in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar, (3) describe the obstacles faced by teachers in the implementation of learning short story texts with the Merdeka Curriculum in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar, and (4) describe the solutions applied by teachers in the implementation of short story text learning with the Merdeka Curriculum in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar. The data sources of this research include documents in the form of teaching modules prepared by Indonesian teachers in class XI F 2, the learning process of short story texts in class XI F2 which implements the Merdeka Curriculum at SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar, field notes from observations, and informants (Indonesian teachers in class XI F 2). This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a single embedded case study approach. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling. The results of this study are as follows. First, the learning planning of short story texts with the Merdeka Curriculum in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar is not in accordance with the guidelines given by the government related to the learning planning of the Merdeka Curriculum. Of the four stages of learning planning, teachers only apply learning planning in the form of formulating learning objectives and preparing teaching modules. Second, the implementation of learning short story texts with the Merdeka Curriculum in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar has a suitability with the teaching modules prepared by teachers. Third, obstacles related to learning short story texts with the Merdeka Curriculum in grade XI of SMA Negeri 1 Karanganyar there are several obstacles faced by teachers. Fourth, teachers have found solutions related to the obstacles they face, in the form of preparing teaching materials for short story texts in advance, stimulating students' ideas, and overseeing each phase of learning.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the communication objectives of the use of character language in the Heart film reviewed from the sociopragmatic aspect. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The data of this study are in the form of character speech referring to the research data source in the form of the film "Heart". The data collection technique was carried out using the listening and note-taking method. From the data transcript, in-depth reading and understanding were carried out to be selected and sorted based on the data groups needed. As a follow-up, detailed data interpretation activities were carried out based on the referred theory and then concluded as a research report. The results of the study indicate that the illocutionary speech acts in the character language in the Heart film are (1) Assertive: involving speakers in the subject matter which is assessed using the principle of "right" or "wrong", assertive speech contains 5 data (2) Directive: the speaker's efforts to ask the listener to do something, directive speech contains 5 data. (3) Commissive: involves the speaker in an action that will be carried out in the future, commissive speech consists of 4 data (4) Expressive: expresses a certain psychological condition into the appropriate truth, expressive speech consists of 3 data, (5) Declarative: the speaker's efforts to change the determination, status or position through a spoken word. consists of 5 data of declarative illocutionary speech acts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the identity and produce a standard text edition of the manuscript Poda ni Hata-Hata ni Pagar Pamunuhan (Inventory No. 3052/07.237), which is part of the collection of the North Sumatra Provincial State Museum. The research employs a philological approach to uncover the manuscript’s physical characteristics, cultural background, and content. The methodology includes inventorying, physical description, transliteration, and the preparation of a standard edition based on textual criticism principles. The findings reveal that the manuscript is written on bark material using Batak script and contains traditional teachings and moral advice passed down through generations in Batak society. The text editing process resulted in a valid standard edition, complete with critical apparatus and restored readings. This study highlights the importance of preserving traditional manuscripts as intangible cultural heritage rich in historical, linguistic, and educational values. The resulting edition is expected to serve as a foundational reference for further studies in philology, regional literature, and Batak cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the structure of topics-comments and syntactic functions in the novel Surat Wasiat by Samsoedi. The background of this research is based on the importance of understanding sentence structure in literary works as an effort to preserve language and improve syntactic learning. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a discourse analysis approach. The research data totaled 155 sentences containing a topic-comment structure, analyzed based on the categories of words and phrases that occupied the topic, as well as the pattern of their syntactic functions. The results showed that the fillers of the topic included nouns, pronouns, question words, dead nouns, nominal phrases, numeral phrases, verbal phrases, prepositional phrases, and tense phrases. Declarative sentences dominate with a total of 148 sentences, while interrogative sentences amount to 7 sentences. Topic syntactic functions are found in subjects, predicates, and descriptions with variations in patterns such as (J–C), (J–C–K), and (J–C–Pang), which play the role of actors, receivers, tools, outcomes, places, or time. This study confirms that the diversity of topic-comment structures contributes to the richness of the meaning of the novel's discourse

Abstract

The objective of this research is to describe the processes of code switching and code mixing, as well as the factors influencing them. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research method. The data source for this research is the movie Gampang Cuan by Rahabi Mandra, in video format. The data collection technique used in this research is listening and noting, which involves observing and recording utterances found in the movie Gampang Cuan by Rahabi Mandra. The instrument used for analysis is a data card. The research findings reveal 30 instances of internal code switching and 8 instances of external code switching. For code mixing, there are 50 instances in word form, 23 instances in phrase form, and 7 instances in clause form. The factors influencing code switching include the speaker factor 14 instances, the interlocutor factor 14 instances, the topic change factor 8 instances, and the arrival of a third person factor 2 instances. The factors influencing code mixing include the speaker factor 39 instances, the interlocutor factor 15 instances, the topic change factor 24 instances, and the change form to informal factor 2 instances.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low levels of collaboration skills and academic achievement among students in the Indonesian language subject. Many students were not actively participating in group discussions and demonstrated limited ability to share their understanding during collaborative work. Individualistic behavior persisted within group settings, resulting in only a few students completing the assigned tasks while others remained passive and failed to grasp the material. Such dynamics negatively impacted overall academic performance, indicating that the learning process had not been optimized for either educators or learners. The aim of this research was to improve students collaboration skills and academic achievement in Indonesian language learning by implementing the Jigsaw II learning model with the support of the Canva digital application among Grade IV students at SDN 3 Jenggawur. The researcher sought to integrate digital tools, specifically Canva, to enhance the learning experience. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles involving 17 students (11 boys and 6 girls). Data collection methods included observation, testing, and documentation. The findings revealed that the percentage of students achieving the targeted collaboration skills increased from 47% in Cycle I to 82% in Cycle II. Similarly, the percentage of students meeting the academic achievement target rose from 52% in Cycle I to 82% in Cycle II. In conclusion, the implementation of the Jigsaw II learning model assisted by the Canva application effectively improved both collaboration skills and academic achievement in Indonesian language learning among Grade IV students at SDN 3 Jenggawur in the 2024/2025 academic year.
