Aksara merupakan jurnal yang diterbitkan oleh Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan, Universitas Batanghari dan Lembaga Penelitian dan Pengabdian Masyarakat Universitas Batanghari. Jurnal ini merupakan jurnal penelitian yang mempublikasikan artikel hasil penelitian asli, studi kepustakaan, dan tulisan terkait dengan fokus pada kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia, kajian bahasa dan kajian sastra. Semua artikel ditinjau oleh 4 orang reviewer, 2 orang reviewer internal dan 2 orang reviewer eksternal. Jurnal ini diterbitkan dua kali dalam satu tahun setiap bulan April dan bulan September, jurnal aksara ini dapat diakses pembaca, jurnal aksara ini berisi hasil penelitian pustaka maupun hasil penelitian lapangan. Jurnal ini meliputi beberapa ranah Ilmu sebagai berikut: 1. Kajian Pendidikan Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia meliputi bidang pembelajaran keterampilan berbahasa, pembelajaran linguistik, pembelajaran semantik, pembelajaran pragmatik, pembelajaran wacana, pembelajaran sosiolinguistik, pembelajaran psikolinguistik serta pembelajaran puisi, pembelajaran prosa, pembelajaran fiksi, pembelajaran drama. 2. Kajian Bahasa Indonesia meliputi: fonologi, morfologi, sintaksis, analisis wacana, semantik, pragmatik, sosiolinguistik, psikolinguistik, bahasa dan budaya, dialektologi, dokumentasi bahasa, serta bidang keilmuan lain yang berkaitan dengan kajian kebahasaan. 3. Kajian Sastra Indonesia meliputi: sastra lisan dan sastra modern berupa kajian puisi, prosa fiksi dan drama.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the use of coordinating conjunction on editorial news of Tribun Jambi January 2019.  This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The data is in the form of sentence which contains coordinating conjunction. The source of the data is the news text on editorial news column of Tribun Jambi newspaper January 2019. The result of the research shows that there are 5 types of conjunctions used. First, there are expressions of coordinating conjunction of addition. Second, there are 3 expressions of coordinating conjunction of sequence. Third, there are 12 expressions of coordinating conjunction of contrast. Forth, there are 11 expressions of coordinating conjunction of choice. Fifth, there are 2 expressions of coordinating conjunction of explanation. Meanwhile there are two types of conjunction which are not found in the newspaper column; affirmation and compound conjunction.

Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the effect of cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) model towards students essay writing at class XII IPA SMA N 8 Kota Jambi. The method used in this research is quasi experiment. There are two classes used in this reseach; they are class XII IPA 7 consists of 43 students as control class and class XII IPA 5 consists of 43 students as experimental class. Requirement test which is used is normality and homogenity test. The result of normality and homogenity test is 0,69 and 0,067 higher than significance α = 0.005. It means that in normal and homogenity research, hypothesis test can be done. Hypothesis test is required by using t test formula. The result of the research shows that the value of tcount = 2,559 higher that the value of ttable= 1,6746. In significance α= 0.05, dk is 52. Thus, it can be concluded that the effect of the application of cooperative integrated reading and composition (CIRC) model has significant effect towards students achievement in writing essay at class XII IPA SMA N 8 Kota Jambi. The mean score of the experimental class is 81,22 which is higher than the mean score of control class which is 72,78.  Keywords : Essay writing, Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composition (CIRC)

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis teks berita antara siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dengan siswa yang diajar menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional; (2) mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis teks berita antara siswa berkemampuan awal tinggi  yang diajar menggunakan model kooperatif tipe STAD dengan yang diajar menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional; (3) mendeskripsikan kemampuan menulis teks berita antara siswa berkemampuan awal rendah yang diajar menggunakan model kooperatif tipe STAD dengan yang diajar menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional; dan (4) mendeskripsikan interaksi antara model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan kemampuan awal terhadap kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 24 Jambi.Jenis penelitian adalah kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen factorial 2x2. Populasi penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 24 yang terdiri atas 6 kelas.  Sampel penelitian adalah kelas VIIIA untuk kelas eksperimen dengan jumlah 40 siswa dan kelas VIIIB untuk kelas kontrol dengan jumlah 38 siswa. Penetapan sampel yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Data kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa diperoleh menggunakan tes unjuk kerja dan dianalisis menggunakan uji Anava dua arah.Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD mempengaruhi kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa. Pengaruh tersebut dapat dijelaskan sebagai berikut. Pertama, kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa yang diajar menggunakan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD lebih baik dari siswa yang diajar menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Kedua, kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa berkemampuan awal tinggi yang diajar menggunakan model kooperatif tipe STAD lebih baik dari siswa yang diajar menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Ketiga, kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa berkemampuan awal rendah yang diajar menggunakan model kooperatif tipe STAD lebih baik dari siswa yang diajar menggunakan pembelajaran konvensional. Keempat, tidak terdapat interaksi antara model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe STAD dan kemampuan awal terhadap kemampuan menulis teks berita siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 24 Jambi.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the influence of using Savi learning model on writing explanatory text for class XI students of SMA Negeri 10 Kabupaten Tebo. The method used in this research is quasy-experimental. In this research, 2 classes were used, namely the XI IPS 2 class control class which consists of 18 students and the XI IPS 1 the experimental class which also consists of 18 students. The requirements test that is carried out is the normality test and the homogeneity test. The results of the normality test for the experimental class are 0.24> 0.05 and for the control class are 0.78> 0.05. It means that the data are normal. The homogeneity test results is 0.661> 0.05 which means that the data are homogeneous. Thus the hypothesis can be tested. Hypothesis testing is done using the t-test formula. The results of this research indicate that the value of t = 3.633 is higher than t table = 2.024. It can be concluded that there is an influence of using the Savi model on the learning outcomes of writing explanatory text for class XI students of SMA Negeri 10 Kabupaten Regency. The average value of the experimental class is 79.72, which was higher than the control class value of 60.56.

Abstract

This research uses descriptive qualitative method. The data is taken from words or sentences and utterances which consist of imagery in the poetry anthology Rumah Cinta by penyair Jambi poet. Poetry is created based on observation that is recorded by senses to make images thought. The image of thought that can see, listen, feel, what it feels by the poet called imagery. From poetry, poet can reveal the bad and good things that they feel so that every poet can create more than two poetry. Moreover that poetry can be collected in a form of book. The book which consists of poetry collection that is created is called poetry anthology. Based on the result of this research, the most dominant imagery that is used by the poetry anthology Rumah Cinta by Jambi poet is imagery of sight. There are 30 utterances that are found and 3 utterances of imagery of movement.Key Word: image, poetry anthology

Abstract

This research is aimed at describing the character of Kai Amak in the novel Galuh Hati by Randu Alamsyah. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The primary data is in the form of sentences and expressions which represents id, ego, and super ego occured in the novel Galuh Hati by Randu Alamsyah. In collecting the data, the documentation technique is used. Based on the result of the analysis, it is found that there are 45 expressions which represents id, ego, and super ego. There is 16 expressions of id aspect which can be found in his lust towards eat and drink, sex, ignoring the pain or uncomfortable feeling. There is 20 expressions of ego aspect which can be seen from his logic, problem-solving, and decision-making. Moreover, there is 9 expressions of super ego aspect which can be seen from his feeling of shame, guilty, and regret. So, it can be concluded that the character of Kai Amak has the id, ego, and super ego personality.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the educational character values in the collection of Cerita Rakyat Daerah Jambi  by H. Zukri Nawas. There 9 aspects of educational character values; namely honesty, bravery, trustworthy, fair, thoughtful, responsible, confident, hardwork, and tolerance aspects. This study included a qualitative type of descriptive. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that there are 50 quotations which are divided into 9 aspects of educational character as follows: 1) There are 5 quotations of honesty (always talking honestly, working honestly, and admitting any mistakes honestly); 2) there are 11 quotations of bravery aspect (having courage when starting something new and facing evil); 3) there are 5 quotations of trustworthy aspect (have an attitude of trust when carrying out their duties and obligations by exemplify good works; 4) there are 3 quotations of fairness aspect (fair in earning rights under its obligations); 5) there are 4 quotations of thoughtful aspect (have an attitude and right in the act accompanied by a mature thought; 6) there are 7 quotations of being responsible aspect (have a responsibility attitude when doing a job well done); 7) there is 1 quotation of confident aspect  (having a high confidence when someone else is undoing it but he still remains at his own); 8) there are 8 quotations of hardworking aspect (have a hard work attitude that always try to get something he wants), and 9) there are 6 quotations of tolerance aspect (have a mutual respect). It can be concluded that there are some educational values found in the collection of Cerita Rakyat Daerah Jambi  by H. Zukri Nawas. The aspects are honesty, bravery, trustworthy, fair, thoughtful, responsible, confident, hardwork, and tolerance.

Abstract

This research is intended to identify the students ability in converting report text to a poetry that was taught by using discovery learning. This research is quantitative with quasi experimental design. The population of this research is students of class X MIPA SMA Negeri 10 Kota Jambi. In collecting sample, random sampling is used, in which class X MIPA1 is experiment class and class X MIPA 2 is a control class. The technique of collecting the data is test. The data is analyzed by using pretest analysis, normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis test. The result of the research shows that the mean score of experiment class is 75,00 and the mean score of control class is 71,80. The hypothesis test is calculated by using SPSS 20. T-test of two samples is gained with t-count 0,049 < 0,05 in which Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Based on the result of the analysis, it can be concluded that students ability in converting report text into poetry can be taught by using discovery learning compared with those students who tried to convert the report text into poetry with direct learning model.Key Words: report text, poetry, discovery learning

Abstract

This research aims at describing moral values which are related with the relationship of human with other human which consists of caring, help each other, deliberation, living in harmony, forgiving, keeping a promise, and respecting others. This research uses qualitative descriptive approach which describes particular event with words or the situational context of the subject in one particular situation. The results of this study show that moral values that include the existence of caring, help each other, deliberation, living in harmony, forgiving, keeping a promise, respecting others, found in the novel Komet Minor by Tere Liye. The quotations relating to the seven forms of moral value are more than 57 quotations. The form of dominant moral value is 18 quotations which found in the value of caring for others while the form of the least moral value is promise with 1 quotation. It is hoped that the value found can be a material of knowledge and learning for literary reader.   The characters in the novel Komet Minor are Batozar, Seli, Ali, the crown, Bibi Nay, Putri, Raib, Uncle Kay. In the novel of Komet Minor the most dominant character is Batozar.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe the use of effective sentence errors based on the characteristics of effective sentences in explanatory essays of class XI IPS 2 Semester 1 SMA N 3 Kota Jambi Academic Year 2019. This study included descriptive qualitative research. The primary data in this study isseries of sentences that are identified as violating the characteristics of effective sentence use, while the secondary data in this study are supporting data originating from books. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the wrong sentences are identified for violating the characteristics of effective sentences in explanatory essays of class XI IPS students semester 1 SMA N 3 Kota Jambi Academic Year 2019 based on four characteristics of effective sentences namely unity, economics, emphasis, and variance. Of the four characteristics, there are errors in the characteristics of the use of effective sentences that are dominant to errors found in the characteristics of unity and economics, while emphasis and variance are not too dominant. From the results of this study, researchers can suggest that writers pay more attention to effective sentences in writing essays and other writings. Keywords: Effective Sentence, Explanatory
