Abstract

Parents, mainly mothers, will be stressed when their children undergo hospitalization. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, the stress level goes higher. Nurse caring and nurse attitudes are treatments to lower mother stress levels. This research aims to see the correlation between nurse caring and mother stress levels on baby hospitalization during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research is observational and uses a cross-sectional design and accidental sampling technique. The samples are 95 mothers whose babies are being cared for in the neonatal intensive care unit at one of Yogyakarta's hospitals from December 2020 – January 2021. The instrument is the Caring Assessment Toll (CAT) questionnaire and the Parental Stress Scale (PSS). The Chi-square test was used as the statistical test. The result showed that 50 people (52.6%) said nurse caring was good. Then, 86 people (90.5%) have low to mid-stress levels. Thirty-eight people (40%) are the ones who categorized nurse caring as a good which affects their low-stress level. The p-value is 0.000 (p-value < 0.05). It can be concluded that there is a correlation between nurse caring and a mother's stress level during baby hospitalization in a perinatology room. Hopefully, the perinatology room nurses should improve their care, especially during the pandemic.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is a coronavirus pandemic that was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. Indonesia confirmed the first case of COVID-19 on March 2nd, 2020. The emergence of coronavirus impacted the mother to bring her baby to do immunization. Because the mother was worried about being infected by covid, on the other hand, babies must receive immunization to keep their immune systems. This study aimed to know the correlation between maternal knowledge about the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic and maternal attitudes in bringing babies to immunization at Sirapit Public Health Center. This study is quantitative research and uses a cross-sectional approach with a chi-square test. For acquiring samples, this study uses an accidental sampling technique. Of 40 respondents, five had poor knowledge (12.5%), no positive attitude (0%), and five with a negative attitude. Another 24 respondents (60%) had decent knowledge, 21 respondents with a positive attitude (67.7%), and three respondents with a negative attitude (33.3%). Lastly, 11 respondents had good knowledge (27.5%), ten respondents with a positive attitude (32.2%), and one respondent with a negative attitude (11.1%). Chi-square statistical test showed p-value = 0.000 (p-value<0.05).

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has increased workloads and psychologically affected the nurses due to a long time of exposure to the virus, and causes a decrease in energy, leading to stress and fatigue. This study aims to analyze the factors associated with fatigue and stress experienced by nurses in the COVID-19 isolation room in Indonesia.  This study involved 50 nurses who worked in the hospital's COVID-19 isolation room. The instrument used consists of three parts, namely the demographic data, a Fatigue Scale-14 questionnaire, and a Perceived Stress Scale-10. The results of the validity and reliability tests carried out on both instruments were declared valid and reliable. The data were collected by providing questionnaire link in form of a google form link through WhatsApp to each research sample. Subsequently, the collected data were analyzed using cross-tabulation analysis and chi-square test.  Results showed that the majority of respondents were aged 31-40 years and most were female (35%). A total of 64% experienced moderate fatigue and 82% of nurses were in the moderate stress category. Based on the fatigue data tabulation analysis, there is no relationship between demographic data variables and fatigue. However, there is a relationship between work duration and stress variables as well as fatigue and stress experienced by nurses.  These results showed that the stress and fatigue experienced by COVID-19 nurses are related to the nurses’s certain characteristics that have the potential to worsen mental health conditions.  It Is recommended to explore more related to fatique factors in the future with specific nursing interventions.

Abstract

Inappropriate early breastfeeding is associated with reduced caloric intake and increased serum bilirubin. It occurs due to a lack of caloric intake to increase enterohepatic circulation. Early breastfeeding for neonates can reduce the occurrence of jaundice. This study aimed to determine the relationship between adequacy breastfeeding and the incidence of neonatal jaundice at the Darus Shifa Islamic Hospital Surabaya. This study used an analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach and a purposive sampling method. The population of this study was 35 respondents. The sample in this study was 32 respondents, and there were two variables. The dependent variable was the adequacy of breastfeeding using an instrument on an observation sheet. The independent variable was the incidence of jaundice using a checklist instrument. Data analysis used Spearman rho. The results of the statistical analysis test using the Spearman rho statistic test with the help of SPSS obtained a significance value of p = 000 which means there is a relationship between the adequacy of breastfeeding. The incidence of neonatal jaundice is r =0,912, meaning there is a solid correlation between the adequacy of breastfeeding and the incidence of it. Adequacy breastfeeding is one way to prevent neonatal jaundice with the support of professional health workers' information to mothers about breastfeeding and its benefits. Thereby affecting the continuity of mothers in breastfeeding so that babies do not experience neonatal jaundice.
