Abstract

Circulation service is a service to the circulation of library materials owned by the library. Generally regarding member registration, borrowing, returns, extension of time, and making statistics. The purpose of writing this article is to find out the role of librarians and innovation in circulation services in college libraries. This study uses the method of literature study or narrative literature review from five references originating from the Google Scholar database, spanning 2013-2023. Based on the results of the analysis, there are several problems in circulation services in tertiary institutions. This problem is usually related to budgetary funds, human resources, lack of information and technology systems, user behavior, and management of the circulation service system. In this case, librarians have an important role to be responsible for managing, operating, and developing information systems and circulation services, as well as various obstacles and problems in libraries. Therefore, innovation and collaboration are needed in tertiary library circulation services with careful consideration from a cost-to-utilization perspective, as well as periodic evaluations to test the success and effectiveness of these innovations.Keywords: College Library, Circulation Services, Librarian

Abstract

AbstractAll managerial considerations are taken into account when preparing library materials for preservation. A maintenance policy is included as a precautionary measure to keep library materials from being damaged as part of conservation. While restoration is the process of repairing damaged library materials using related techniques and considerations. Written policies need to be developed after the preservation of library materials on physical documents and their information content. These three points are interconnected with each other in determining the resilience of library materials in a library or related institution. In this article, the author will discuss the broadest scope of these three points, namely the preservation of library materials. In the research conducted, the authors took one of the faculty libraries located at Padjadjaran University, namely the Faculty of Nursing, Padjadjaran University Library. In this study, the author aims to determine the preservation activities implemented by the library in maintaining their library materials. In collecting information, the authors made direct observations and also conducted interviews with one of the librarians at the Library of the Faculty of Nursing, University of Padjadjaran.Keywords: Preservation, Library, CollectionAbstrakSemua pertimbangan manajerial diperhitungkan saat menyiapkan bahan pustaka untuk preservasi. Kebijakan pemeliharaan disertakan sebagai tindakan pencegahan untuk menjaga bahan pustaka dari kerusakan sebagai bagian dari konservasi. Sedangkan restorasi adalah proses perbaikan bahan pustaka yang rusak dengan menggunakan teknik dan pertimbangan terkait. Kebijakan tertulis perlu dikembangkan setelah dilaksanakannya pelestarian bahan pustaka terhadap dokumen fisik dan kandungan informasinya. Ketiga poin tersebut saling berhubungan satu sama lain dalam menentukan ketahanan bahan pustaka disuatu perpustakaan maupun lembaga terkait. Dalam artikel ini, penulis akan membahas cakupan yang paling luas dari ketiga poin tersebut, yaitu preservasi bahan pustaka. Pada penelitian yang dilakukan, penulis mengambil salah satu perpustakaan fakultas yang berada di Universitas Padjadjaran yaitu Perpustakaan Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Padjadjaran. Pada penelitian ini, penulis bertujuan untuk mengetahui kegiatan-kegiatan preservasi yang diterapkan oleh pihak perpustakaan dalam menjaga bahan pustaka mereka. Dalam mengumpulkan informasi, penulis melakukan observasi secara langsung dan juga melakukan wawancara terhadap salah satu pustakawan di Perpustakaan Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Padjadjaran.Kata Kunci: Preservasi, Perpustakaan, Koleksi

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine how the role of interpersonal communication between librarians and users in libraries through the narrative literature review method with four references taken through the Google Scholer and Dimensions database from 2013 to 2023. The results of this study show that librarians have an important role in interpersonal communication between librarians and users in libraries.  Because interpersonal or interpersonal communication is the delivery of information or a message involving two or more people through direct interaction so that it may get verbal or nonverbal reactions that are useful in establishing positive good relationships between librarians and users, avoiding conflicts that may occur due to misunderstandings, and avoiding users from negative perceptions about librarians.  In which there are often obstacles such as misperceptions created by users to librarians or vice versa, lack of librarian sensitivity to user needs, and information that has not been conveyed properly.  however, it can be straightened out by effective interpersonal communication applied with a librarian skill in understanding the meaning of equality, positivity, supportiveness, empathy, and openness. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pustakawan  komunikasi interpersonal antara pustakawan dengan pemustaka memiliki peran penting dalam perpustakaan. karena komunikasi interpersonal atau antar pribadi merupakan penyampaian informasi atau suatu pesan melibatkan dua orang atau lebih melalui interaksi secara langsung sehingga mungkin mendapatkan reaksi secara verbal maupun nonverbal yang bermanfaat dalam menjalin hubungan baik yang postitif antara pustakawan dengan pemustaka, menghindari konflik yang mungkin terjadi sebab kesalahpahaman, dan menghindarkan pemustaka dari presepsi negative mengenai pustakawan. Yang dimana didalamnya sering terjadi hambatan seperti kesalahan presepsi yang diciptakan pemustaka terhadap pustakawan atau sebaliknya, kurangnya kepekaan pustakawan terhadap kebutuhan pemustaka, dan informasi-informasi yang belum tersampaikan dengan baik. namun hal tersebut dapat diluruskan dengan komunikasi interpersonal efektif yang diterapkan dengan suatu keterampilan pustakawan dalam memahami arti dari adanya kesetaraan (equality), Rasapositif (positiveness), Dukungan (supportiveness) Empati (empathy), dan Keterbukaan (openness).Kata Kunci: Komunikasi Interpersonal; Pemustaka; Pustakawan

Abstract

AbstractCommunication cannot be avoided by every individual in their life. Effective communication will occur when each other understands the message conveyed. However, communication has not been effective when someone communicates, resulting in a lack of understanding of the information. To build effective communication, a librarian carries out several actions that invite the user's response, namely respecting the target of communication, placing oneself in situations or conditions faced by other people, conveying messages clearly, being humble and listening to other people. Effective communication is characterized by understanding and insight, can create pleasure, influence attitudes, improve good social relations, and ultimately lead to action. Keywords: Effective communication, information servicesAbstrak Komunikasi tidak dapat dihindarkan oleh setiap individu dalam meniti kehidupannya. Komunikasi efektif akan terjadi ketika antara satu sama lain saling memahami pesan yang disampaikan. Namun, komunikasi belum berjalan secara efektif ketika seseorang berkomunikasi sehingga menimbulkan kurang pemahaman terhadap suatu informasi. Membangun komunikasi yang efektif, seorang pustakawan menjalankan beberapa tindakan yang mengundang respon pemustaka yakni menghormati sasaran komunikasi, menempatkan diri pada situasi atau kondisi yang dihadapi orang lain, menyampaikan pesan secara jelas, bersifat rendah hati dan mendengarkan orang lain. Abstract

Gamification is the application of game elements in non-game settings, such as points, badges, leaderboards, and challenges. In the library context, it is emerging as an innovative strategy to attract Generation Z, who are digital natives and prefer interactive and engaging experiences. Traditional library services often fail to meet the expectations of this generation, making it necessary to explore new approaches that align with their preferences. This study aims to explore the implementation of gamification in library services and assess its effectiveness in increasing the engagement of Generation Z users. A descriptive-qualitative method was employed through literature review, analyzing scholarly articles, research reports, and relevant case studies. The findings show that gamification can increase participation in literacy programs, boost visits to physical and digital libraries, and enhance user motivation. Elements like daily challenges, digital rewards, and leaderboards create a fun and competitive atmosphere that resonates well with Gen Z. In conclusion, gamification presents a promising solution to modernize library services and make them more inclusive, user-friendly, and aligned with the behavior and expectations of today’s younger generation.

Abstract

This study explores the scientific literature that examines the role of libraries in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Using a bibliometric approach, the dataset comprises 1,152 publications indexed in Scopus from 2016 to 2024, analyzed with VOSviewer software. The results reveal a growing trend in publications, particularly between 2020 and 2024. The most productive countries are the United States, India, and Nigeria, while the most influential journals include Emerald Emerging Markets Case Studies, Sustainability (Switzerland), and Library Philosophy and Practice. The most frequently cited articles focus on themes such as cultural sustainability, public libraries, digital inclusion, and open access. Co-occurrence analysis produced seven thematic clusters, encompassing areas such as information management, academic innovation, and information literacy. Overlay and density visualizations indicate a thematic shift from digital infrastructure to more contextual topics, including green libraries and community engagement. These findings affirm the position of Library as a social science discipline that contributes to sustainable development. In addition, these findings are expected to provide an empirical foundation for future research agendas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana tingkat pemanfaatan layanan Pojok Baca Digital (POCADI) oleh pemustaka di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Aceh Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Metode pengumpulan informasi dengan menggunakan teknik observasi, dokumentasi, serta wawancara. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 7 orang pemustaka yang pernah menggunakan Pojok Baca Digital (POCADI) dan 1 pustakawan, perencanaan yang dipilih berdasarkan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat pemanfaatan layanan POCADI di Dinas Perpustakaan dan kearsipan Aceh Tengah sudah dimanfaatkan dengan baik oleh pemustaka, dimana frekuensi penggunaan pemustaka menjukkan variasi, dan meskipun belum semua pemustaka optimal dalam mengakses koleksi digital. Motivasi terbesar dalam memanfaatkan POCADI adalah untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan mencari informasi ilmiah, sementara sebagian kecil memanfaatkan hanya untuk kebutuhan hiburan. Kemampuan pemustaka dalam menelusur koleksi digital masih perlu ditingkatkan, ditandai dengan minimnya literasi digital dan sedikitnya pelatihan yang diberikan oleh pustakawan. Peranan pustakawan secara umum cukup penting, namun masih perlu ditingkatkan melalui pelatihan layanan berbasis digital dan edukasi kepada pengguna agar mereka lebih mampu memanfaatkan teknologi secara optimal. Abstract

Abstract A public library is a library that is funded by public funds and is open to anyone, regardless of gender, race, caste, religion, ethnicity and so on. The design of the Meulaboh Public Library, West Aceh Regency is an innovation to increase public interest in reading and provide facilities that are not only able to accommodate reading activities. Abstract

Abstract This study aims to evaluate the views of users on the information repackaging service provided by the library as an effort to improve ease of access to information. The service plays a role in re-presenting information content in a more concise, attractive, and user-friendly form, such as in the form of summaries, infographics, and audiovisual media. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection through interviews and questionnaires to users who have utilized the service. The research findings reveal that the majority of users give a positive response to the information repackaging service because it is considered to make it easier for them to understand information quickly and effectively. However, there are several obstacles, including the lack of service socialization and the need for a more personally appropriate information format. Therefore, this study recommends improving the capabilities of librarians and implementing more optimal communication strategies so that service utilization can be maximized. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pandangan pemustaka terhadap layanan kemas ulang informasi yang disediakan oleh perpustakaan sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan kemudahan akses informasi. Layanan tersebut berperan dalam menyajikan kembali konten informasi dalam bentuk yang lebih ringkas, menarik, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna, seperti dalam bentuk ringkasan, infografis, maupun media audiovisual. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan kuesioner kepada pemustaka yang telah memanfaatkan layanan tersebut. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa mayoritas pemustaka memberikan tanggapan positif terhadap layanan kemas ulang informasi karena dianggap memudahkan mereka dalam memahami informasi secara cepat dan efektif. Meskipun demikian, terdapat beberapa hambatan, antara lain kurangnya sosialisasi layanan dan kebutuhan akan format informasi yang lebih sesuai secara personal. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini merekomendasikan peningkatan kemampuan pustakawan serta penerapan strategi komunikasi yang lebih optimal agar pemanfaatan layanan dapat dimaksimalkan. Abstract

Abstract Analysis of Librarians' Ability to Operate SLiMS at the MIN 6 Model Banda Aceh Library. This study discusses the ability of librarians to operate SLiMS. The purpose of the study was to determine the extent of librarians' ability to operate SLiMS at the MIN 6 Model Banda Aceh Library. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach to analyze librarians' abilities based on three main indicators: skills, knowledge, and work experience. Data collection techniques were conducted through observation and interviews. The informants in this study were librarians at MIN 6 Model Banda Aceh. The results showed that librarians are competent in operating SLiMS at the operational level. However, librarians' technical knowledge must be improved to maximize SLiMS's potential in managing digital libraries. Penelitian ini membahas tentang kemampuan pustakawan dalam mengoperasikan SLiMS. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui sejauh mana kemampuan pustakawan dalam mengoperasikan SLiMS di Perpustakaan MIN 6 Model Banda Aceh. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif untuk menganalisis kemampuan pustakawan berdasarkan tiga indikator utama : keterampilan, pengetahuan, dan pengalaman kerja. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara observasi dan wawancara. Yang menjadi informan dalam penelitian ini adalah pustakawan MIN 6 Model Banda Aceh. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pustakawan memiliki kompetensi dalam mengoperasikan SLiMS pada tingkat operasional. Namun, pengetahuan teknis pustakawan harus ditingkatkan untuk memaksimalkan potensi SLiMS dalam mengelola perpustakaan digital.
