Abstract

Solid waste disposal is one of the contributing sectors to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Open burning of waste generates CO2, anaerobic decomposition of organic waste generates CH4, while composting activities and biological processes generate CO2, CH4, and N2O. Transportation to waste disposal facilities contributes to GHG emission as well. The aim of this study is to compare GHG emission and electrical energy generated from incineration and biological process. Calculation of estimated GHG emission in this study used the IPCC Tier 2 method with a combination of default data and local data such as data on the composition of waste for incineration compared to biological processes. The result indicated that incineration generated lower GHG emission compared to biological process. Higher electrical energy potential can be obtained from biological process, if most of CH4 is converted to electrical energy. PLTSA Merah Putih, which applied energy recovery from incineration, simultaneously convert heat to electrical energy and reduce GHG problem from CH4

Abstract

Quadrotor is a rotorcraft that has four rotors, usually symmetrical and arranged in some specific configuration, i.e. ‘plus’ and ‘cross’ configuration. To test a new control system for quadrotor, it is necessary to put it on board first and have a flight test. However, controlling a quadrotor is a hard task, hence the risk of crash is high. This risk can be reduced by creating a simulation model that represents the dynamics of quadrotor accurately. This paper aims to provide the simulation model of a quadrotor. To increase accuracy of this model, the disturbance induced by the motion of the quadrotor were also taken int account. The simulation was built in Simulink based on the kinematics and dynamics equation of quadrotor both in linear and nonlinear simulation. In most cases, the attitude response (roll, pitch, and yaw) for both simulations were nearly the same. The most notable difference was for the elevation response in which the linear simulation tended to be unable to capture the deviation, while the nonlinear simulation was able to.

Abstract

Lettuce plants are widely cultivated in Indonesia. Based on the 2019 Central Bureau of Statistics, the amount of lettuce plant production has decreased production, because the soil in Indonesia has decreased fertility and drought. To overcome this problem by switching the use of planting media in the form of Soilless Culture System (SCS) media containing compost on Trichoderma sp. induced bromelain. SCS media containing Trichoderma sp induced bromelain solid compost will produce media that will be rich in macro and micro nutrients so as to produce quality lettuce plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using SCS media containing compost on bromelain induced Trichoderma sp. and get the best dose of SCS media containing compost on bromelain induced Trichoderma sp. on lettuce plants. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with media treatments used, namely husks, vermicompost, compost, coconut husk, and bromelain solid compost with the ratio of P1 (2:1:1:2:2), P2 (2:1:1:2:3), P3 (2:1:1:2:4). The parameters observed were leaf area and levels of chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and total. The results obtained after being tested with ANOVA 5% and BNT 5% further test stated that the leaf area and chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and total levels had a significant effect and the best dose was obtained, namely treatment P3 (2:1:1:2:4).

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus remains a pressing concern due to a significant surge in cases, driving the continuous exploration of natural substances as potential drugs and nutraceuticals. Notably, insulin leaves or yacon are among the promising natural candidates. Previous in vitro and in vivo studies have established the antidiabetic effects of insulin leaves, and in silico investigations have also been conducted to assess their impact on DPP-4. Nonetheless, the exploration of the hypoglycemic or antidiabetic effects of this plant remains extensive and offers room for further investigation. In light of this research, PPI analysis and oncology gene enrichment were carried out on target compounds and diseases using bioinformatics databases, Venn diagrams, Cytoscape, and ShinyGO. The findings unveiled 9 high-priority targets from the analysis, and the KEGG pathway that elucidates the disease mechanism is the EGFR inhibitor resistance pathway.

Abstract

Balepanjang is one of the Village in Wonogiri Regency is the center of the wood processing industry. From observations in the field the workers when doing work activities are not very ergonomic. Where standing is too bent, legs too bent, and sitting is not in accordance with the posture. If left unchecked, it can cause work-related injuries and illnesses, then a work posture analysis is carried out to determine the level of risk that workers may experience. This study aims to evaluate the work posture of the workers in the wood industry center in Balepanjang Village, Jatipurno District, Wonogiri Regency with the REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) method to minimize the occurrence of work-related injuries and illnesses in workers. based on the results of measuring work postures using the REBA method, it was found that the process of lifting wood and pushing it to the saw machine in the home sawmill industry, a REBA score of 10 was in the high level category.

Abstract

More than 70% of the earth's oceans are known to cover the surface of the earth. High biodiversity makes the ocean a habitat for microorganisms such as tunicates. Tunicates can associate with other microorganisms such as Pseudonocardia carboxydivorans so that they can produce bioactive compounds including antibiotics, pesticides and antitumors. The initial stage to identify a bioactive compound is by isolating DNA. This study aims to determine the optimization of bacterial DNA extraction using promega and qiagen extraction kits. This study consists of 3 treatments, namely rejuvenation, bacterial identification and concentration measurement. The results showed that the optimization of using qiagen extraction kit was relatively superior at 1,989 ng/µl - 2,000 ng/µl with 1 hour. While in the optimization of promega extraction, the resulting purity is 1,500 ng/µl - 1,943 ng/µl with a processing time of 2 hours.
