Abstract

Using organic fertilizer as a soil conditioner can increase the C-organic content in the soil. Nutrient content of organic fertilizers include (1) Contains nutrients in types and quantities varying depending on the origin, (2) providing nutrients in a slow (slow release) and in limited quantities, and (3) has the main function to improve fertility and soil health. Organic fertilizers derived from manure are the best soil ameliorants compared to other aminators. Nutrients contained in organic fertilizers are generally low and very varied. As soil amendment material, organic fertilizer helps in preventing erosion and reducing soil cracks. Organic matter as soil enhancers can improve soil physical, chemical and biological properties.

Abstract

Soil amelioran contribute to improving paddy soil nutrient availability. It is important to achieve food self-sufficiency in Indonesia. The objectives of this study was to evaluate the effect of the application of soil amelioran on soil pH and nutrient status of , P, and K in paddy soil. The research was conducted in the laboratory STIPER Dharma Wacana  Metro from March to June 2012. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with three replication . there are 48 experimental units that a combination treatment of rice straw (0,5, 10, 15 ton/ha), straw ash (equivalent to burning 0,5,10,15 ton/ha of rice straw, and source of Ca (without Ca, CaCO3, and steel slag). The result showed that  (1) there was a tendency in the soil pH to be higher with increasing dose amelioran and (2) there was indicate for increasing the availability of N, but not for the availability of P, and K.Keywords; Amelioran Rice Straw, Source Ca, Availability of Nutrient, Paddy Soil

Abstract

Cocoa beans are the product of the cocoa plant which is then dried to reduce moisture content, before being processed into food, beverage, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic products. To improve the quality of cocoa beans, fermentation is carried out before drying, fermentation of cocoa beans is carried out using wooden box fermenter media and banana stone leaves. The research objective was to determine the quality of cocoa beans produced from 2 fermenter media. This study used proximate analysis to determine the nutritional content and sensory tests of aroma, texture, color of cocoa powder by 20 panelists using the scoring method, then the data were discussed descriptively. The results showed that the fermented cacao beans using banana leaves had higher fiber nutrition 21.7727%, protein 10.7182%, and the fat and free fatty acid content was lower than that of wooden box fermentation, namely 24.9145% and 6.4315%. In the sensory test, cocoa beans fermented using banana leaves got the highest and preferred value from the panelists, namely aroma parameters 4.55%, texture 4.85%, and color 4.6%.

Abstract

This research is about application IBA and NAA with some cutting materials of “Madu Deli Hijau” water apple using NFT hydroponic system was aim to study the growth of water apple’s cuttings was treated by IBA and NAA 500 ppm and study the best kind of cutting materials of water apple that can growth the most.  This research was conducted using completely randomized design in two factors.  The first was consisted of 7 treatments; control (without Auxin), IBA 500 ppm, and NAA 500 ppm. The second was consisted of 4 treatments; woody branch (hardwood), semi woody (semi hardwood), and soft branch, softwood, and shoots. The results showed that the added auxin in the form of IBA and NAA 500 ppm can increase the success of madu deli hijau water apple cuttings and the cuttings from the shoots are the best for the success of madu deli hijau water apple in NFT hydroponic system.

Abstract

Pemanasan global merupakan kejadian terperangkapnya radiasi gelombang panjang matahari yang dipancarkan balik oleh bumi.  Dampak dari pemanasan global adalah terjadinya perubahan iklim yang selanjutnya akan mempengaruhi kehidupan di bumi. Akibat dari perubahan iklim, ada beberapa daerah kawasan pertanian yang akan mengalami kekeringan (menjadi semakin kering), sementara di beberapa daerah yang lain ada pula yang akan mendapatkan curah hujan lebih tinggi dari biasanya (menjadi semakin basah). Hal tersebut dapat menyebabkan petani gagal panen dan mengalami kerugian yang signifikan. Sebagai salah satu upaya untuk meminimalisir kerugian tersebut, dibutuhkan informasi yang tepat mengenai kondisi iklim (curah hujan) suatu wilayah pada masa lampau dan pada saat sekarang, apakah wilayah tersebut menjadi semakin basah atau kering dari tahun-tahun sebelumnya.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dampak perubahan iklim pada skala lokal di kawasan pertanian Politeknik Negeri Lampung yang dilihat dari sisi curah hujannya, serta mengetahui apakah saat ini telah terjadi perubahan zona agroklimatologi di kawasan pertanian Politeknik Negeri Lampung. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tahun 2016—2017 di Politeknik Negeri Lampung. Pada penelitian ini data curah hujan yang telah dikumpulkan, dianalisis menggunakan sistem klasifikasi iklim Oldeman, selanjutnya dilakukan analisis apakah kawasan tersebut saat ini telah menjadi semakin kering/basah dari tahun-tahun sebelumnya, atau masih tetap. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) dampak perubahan iklim telah dirasakan pada skala lokal (di kawasan pertanian Politeknik Negeri Lampung) yang ditandai dengan perubahan kondisi curah hujan, (2) kondisi saat ini di kawasan pertanian Politeknik Negeri Lampung lebih basah dibandingkan dengan tahun-tahun sebelumnya, dan (3) dalam kurun waktu 25 tahun terakhir, telah terjadi perubahan zona agroklimatologi di kawasan pertanian Politeknik Negeri Lampung, yaitu dari zona D3 menjadi C2 berdasarkan sistem klasifikasi Oldeman.

Abstract

Natural latex is an agricultural product that has a lot of benefits human needs. The efforts to increase latex production have to be continually done in order to meet the requirement. Paying attention to the time of latex taking and giving latex stimulant treatment are the important efforts. Both the efforts have to be taken care very well to prevent the damage on the coutchouc. The objective of the study is to know the effect of applying ethepon and the time of latex taking to word latex production on the coutchouc and the interaction between both of the factors. The research took place in Dharma Agung Village sub-distric of Seputih Mataram, Central Lampung regency on May—July, 2013. The ingredients used in the research are: coutchouc clone PB 260, ethepon with Cepha 100 PA brand (1,5% and 2,5% of concentration), acetic acid and aquades.  The research is in factorial pattern which is arranged in complete randomized block design by three repetitions. The first factor is the application of ethepon (A) divided into three treatments: non ethepon application (a1), ethepon application with 1,5% concentration (a2), and ethepon application with 2,5% concentration (a3). The second factor is the time of latex taking (T) at 05.00 a.m. (t1), at 07.00 a.m. (t2), and at 09.00 a.m. (t3). Based on the finding of the research, it can be concluded that the use of ethepon with 2,5% concentration and the earliest time latex taking (at 05.00 a.m.) produce the highest amount of latex than others treatments.Keywords: Latex, Ethepon, Latex Taking Time

Abstract

Sumatra is an island in Indonesia that contributes to national coffee production. Lampung is an area of the island of Sumatra which is the largest coffee producing province. One of the largest production centers in Lampung is in West Lampung district. The district has a production of 55,628 tonnes of 137,228. Coffee farming activities are the main source of employment for people in the West Lampung region. However, in running the farming, of course there are various problems, such as low productivity, changes in weather, selling prices, and several other contributing factors. This study aims to analyze (1) the income of coffee farmers, (2) the factors that influence the income of coffee farmers. Way tenong sub-district was determined as a research location with the consideration of being one of the coffee producers in West Lampng. The number of research respondents as many as 50 people who as a whole are coffee farmers. To find out the income of coffee farmers using farm income analysis. To determine the factors that influence the income of coffee farmers, multiple linear regression analysis was carried out. The income generated by coffee farmers consists of income on cash costs and on total costs. The amount of each income is Rp. 24,057,845.12 / year and Rp. 23,193,623.79 / year. The R / C value of coffee farming income at cash and total costs were 6.59 and 5.49, respectively. The factors that affect the income of coffee farmers are the number of family members and the amount of production.

Abstract

The usage development can be increased by applying right cultivating and processing  technology to grow sweet potato agroindustry that can help increasing economy value and lengthening storability. One of sweet potato potencies that can be developed in food diversification is sweet potato flour processing. The objective of this research is to study about the effect of fermentation time and various color of sweet potato to the quality of sweet potato flour. The research was done on April until June 2015 in Basic Laboratory of Agricultural College of Dharma Wacana, while the proximate test for the flour of fermented sweet potato was done in Agricultural Product Technology Laboratory of State Polytechnic Lampung. The research design used in this study was Complete Group Random Design (RAKL) arranged factorially by three repetitions. The first factor is fermentation time (t) that has 3 levels: 5 days (t1), 7 days (t2), and 9 days (t3). The second factor is the color of sweet potato (w) that has 3 levels: white (w1), yellow (w2), and purple (w3). The finding result shows that the effect of fermentation time and various color of sweet potato have real impact towards the flour yield, ash content, color, and  flour smell as well as nutrient content of sweet potato such as water, protein, fat, crude fiber, and carbohydrate. Generally, there is no interaction except for the flour color and ash content.

Abstract

The growth of caoutchouc seed by applying gibereline hormone in various concentrations and chicken manure in various dosages (Krisnarini). The application of ZPT gibereline in various dosages gives the same influence in the growth of caoutchouc seed which is supported by all the observation variables, the mixture comparison of chicken manure: soil (2:1) gives the tallest result of caoutchouc seed’s growth which is supported by the height of caoutchouc seed, root volume, dried shoot mass and dried root mass variables.Keywords: Caoutchouc seed, Gibereline and chicken manur

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the comparison of the income levels of healthy and non-healthy rice farmers in the study area. This research used simple random sampling method. The research was conducted in Rejo Asri Village, Seputih Raman District, Central Lampung Regency with 75 healthy rice respondents and 88 non-healthy rice farmers as respondents. The analytical method used in this study used the income analysis method to determine the loss or loss of farming and the t test analysis method (different). The results showed that the production of healthy rice was 1,609.24 kg with an income of Rp. 6,430,408.67 / farm while non-healthy rice production was 3,477.18 kg with an income of Rp. 12,663,991.48 / farm. The result of different test (tcount) is -6.646 and significantly different with a probability of 0.000 less than 0.005, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning that the income of healthy rice farming is greater than the income of non-healthy rice farming.
