Abstract

Purpose − The high average screen time and number of TikTok users in Indonesia indicate a change in the communication patterns of society. Da'wah practices in the contemporary era have also evolved. Da'wah is now delivered through digital access. The context of digital da'wah in the contemporary era requires not only visual beauty, but also the right strategy. This study departs from the strategy of using language and humor in da'wah, which is still a matter of debate, because not all circles accept the use of humor in da'wah in the same way. Gus Miftah is one of the preachers who receives mixed responses from his audience because of the language and humor he uses in his speech. This study aims to examine the audience's response to the use of language and humor in Gus Miftah's preaching, as well as the meanings that emerge from the audience's response to the language and humor in Gus Miftah's preaching. Method − This research is a descriptive qualitative study using an audience reception approach. The reception approach refers to the understanding that the dynamics of message reception cannot be understood solely through the process of message production and delivery, but also through how the audience receives, understands, interprets, and negotiates the meaning of the message. Findings − The results of the study show that based on the classification using Stuart Hall's reception model, the dominance of audience comments was in the opposition position, followed by the dominant hegemony position, and opposition.

Abstract

Purpose − The Marriage Guidance Program (Bimbingan Perkawinan/Bimwin) is a strategic initiative of the Ministry of Religious Affairs to enhance the readiness of prospective couples in building resilient families. The effectiveness of this program is closely related to the quality of management at the implementation level, particularly within the Office of Religious Affairs (Kantor Urusan Agama/KUA). This study aims to analyze the management of the Marriage Guidance Program at KUA Batang Kuis by examining planning, implementation, and evaluation functions, as well as identifying supporting and inhibiting factors. Method − A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Informants were purposively selected, including the Head of KUA, religious counselors, and program participants. Findings − The findings indicate that program planning and implementation have referred to official regulations and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. However, program evaluation remains predominantly administrative and has not fully adopted an outcome-based approach. Supporting factors include the availability of official guidelines and facilitator competence, while inhibiting factors involve participants’ time constraints and limited evaluation mechanisms. This study provides practical recommendations for strengthening the management of the Marriage Guidance Program at the KUA level to enhance its contextual adaptability.

Abstract

Purpose − This study aims to analyze the da'wah communication strategies used by Ustadz Ucay in increasing religious awareness and understanding among the community. Da'wah as a process of religious communication requires effective communication strategies so that the conveyed messages can be well understood and accepted by the audience.   Method − This research uses a qualitative approach with a library research method by examining various scientific literatures related to da'wah communication, persuasive approaches, and the use of media in da'wah activities. The data analysis technique was conducted through content analysis of various literature sources to identify patterns and effective strategies of da'wah communication. Findings − The results of the study indicate that there are three main strategies that play an important role in improving public religious awareness and understanding. First, the strategy of delivering da'wah messages in an easily understandable manner through the use of simple, systematic, and contextual language so that religious messages can be received clearly by the audience. Second, the use of persuasive and humanistic approaches that emphasize empathetic, dialogical, and respectful communication toward the social conditions of the audience, thereby creating a harmonious relationship between the preacher and the congregation. Third, the utilization of media and interaction with the congregation, which allows the da'wah process to reach a wider audience, become more participatory, and adapt to technological developments. Therefore, communicative and contextual da'wah communication strategies can enhance the effectiveness of da'wah in building religious awareness and understanding within society.

Abstract

Purpose − This study aims to analyze ecological da'wah strategies in environmental conservation efforts at the Mitra Jaya Farmers Group Association in Tanjung Jaya Village, Bangun Rejo Subdistrict, Central Lampung Regency Method − This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach with field research. Data collection was conducted through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, and was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman framework, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Data validity was ensured through triangulation of techniques and sources. Findings − The results reveal that ecological da’wah strategies are integrated by instilling Islamic values in agricultural activities, such as extension services, discussions, and setting an example in environmental conservation. Da’wah is also implemented through spiritual guidance during regular meetings to strengthen the spiritual awareness of the farmers’ group members. This approach encourages active member participation in environmental conservation through environmentally friendly agricultural practices. Social interaction among members contributes to the formation of a shared awareness and behavioral transformation regarding the urgency of environmental sustainability.
