Groundwater is widely used in Indonesia because it is readily available and generally considered of better quality. Groundwater is used for various purposes, such as household, agricultural, and industrial needs. This study aims to determine the quality of drilled well water based on the iron (Fe) and manganese (Mn) metal content consumed by residents of Polewali Village, South Baebunta District, North Luwu Regency. This is an observational study with a descriptive approach. The study population consisted of six drilled wells that served as water sources for the community. The results showed that of the six drilled wells examined, three contained no Fe, while the other three contained Fe at varying concentrations. Meanwhile, Mn was detected in all well water samples from the drilled wells. These findings indicate that the quality of drilled well water in Polewali Village varies between locations, with Fe content undetectable in some locations but relatively high in others, and Mn content found in all samples. Therefore, regular water quality monitoring and well water treatment are necessary, especially in locations where metal levels exceed quality standards, to ensure community water safety.

Smoking habits at the Makassar Class I Penitentiary (Lapas) remain a challenge to implementing the Smoke-Free Area (KTR) policy. This condition indicates the need for effective communication strategies from correctional officers to support the control of inmates' smoking behavior. This study aims to examine the role and communication strategies of correctional officers in controlling inmates' smoking behavior in Makassar Class I Penitentiary. This study employed a qualitative, exploratory design and was conducted in February–March 2026. The research informants consisted of four correctional officers, six inmates, and one health worker, all purposively selected. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that correctional officers served as educators, facilitators, and role models in implementing guidance. The communication strategies implemented included persuasive interpersonal communication, group communication, and simple educational media. This strategy was perceived as being able to increase inmates' awareness to reduce smoking habits; however, behavioral changes have not been optimal due to obstacles such as weak enforcement of the Smoke-Free Area policy and the circulation of illegal cigarettes within the prison. This study concludes that effective control of smoking behavior requires a sustainable communication strategy, strengthened implementation of Smoke-Free Area policies, and a conducive environment.

Motor development during infancy is a crucial foundation for children's physical and cognitive development. Motor development delay in infants aged 4-12 months remains a problem that requires early stimulation. Baby swim is a form of early stimulation that utilizes the properties of water to stimulate muscle movement and neural coordination. This study aimed to analyze the effect of baby swim on the motor development of infants aged 4-12 months at Asyifa Baby Care Clinic Sengkang, Wajo Regency. The study employed a pre-experimental design with a one group pretest-posttest design. The study population consisted of all infants aged 4-12 months who participated in baby swim at the clinic. The sample comprised 30 infants selected using the total sampling technique. The baby swim intervention was conducted by a trained midwife following standard operating procedures for 10-15 minutes in warm water at 38-40°C using a neck ring. Motor development was measured using the Pre-Screening Developmental Questionnaire (KPSP) before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of p<0.05. Before the intervention, the majority of infants (80.0%) were in the questionable development category with the language development being the most delayed aspect. After the intervention, a significant improvement was observed, with 73.3% of infants achieving normal development status, particularly in the fine motor development. The Wilcoxon test showed a significant effect of baby swim on infant motor development (p=0.000; p<0.05). Baby swim is an effective early stimulation intervention for improving motor development in infants aged 4-12 months.

The implementation of the Early Warning Score (EWS) in hospital settings plays a crucial role in the early detection of patient clinical deterioration; however, adherence to its completion varies in practice. This variability is influenced not only by technical aspects but also by individual factors among nurses. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between nurses’ knowledge and motivation and the completeness of Early Warning Score (EWS) documentation at UPT RSUD Labuang Baji, South Sulawesi Province. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional correlational design was employed. The study population consisted of all 45 inpatient nurses, using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a self-developed questionnaire based on literature review and the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) guidelines, and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with Fisher’s Exact Test at a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents had good knowledge (97.8%), moderate motivation (71.1%), and good completeness of EWS documentation (93.3%). The bivariate analysis revealed no significant relationship between knowledge and EWS completeness (p=0.787), nor between motivation and EWS completeness (p=0.935). In conclusion, nurses’ knowledge and motivation were not associated with the completeness of EWS documentation, indicating that EWS implementation is more strongly influenced by organizational and system-level factors than individual factors.

Patient safety is a critical global health challenge, given that over 10% of adverse events are actually preventable. Hospital Administration students, as future healthcare managers, require comprehensive knowledge regarding Patient Safety Goals. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of an educational intervention on Patient Safety Goals—comprising lectures, videos demonstrating the implementation of each goal, and discussions—in improving the knowledge of Hospital Administration students. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed, involving 41 fourth-semester students from the Hospital Administration Study Program at ITEKES Tri Tunas Nasional in April 2026. The education was delivered in a single 3.5-hour session. A 12-item questionnaire, validated via product-moment correlation and tested for reliability, served as the instrument. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test at a 95% significance level. The majority of respondents were 20-year-old females residing in Makassar City. The mean knowledge score increased by 2.49 points, rising from 7.51 to 10. The proportion of students with a "good" level of knowledge increased from 26.8% to 80.5%, and the "poor" category was no longer observed post-intervention. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value < 0.001, indicating a significant difference between pre- and post-education knowledge levels. Education on Patient Safety Goals proved effective in enhancing the knowledge of Hospital Administration students. The researchers recommend integrating Patient Safety Goal material into the curriculum from the beginning of the study program and utilizing clinical simulations to master more complex procedural aspects.

Quality of work life is a crucial factor supporting the well-being and performance of healthcare workers, yet it often receives insufficient attention in primary healthcare facilities. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with work-life quality among healthcare workers at the Sabbangparu Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Wajo Regency. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was employed. The study population consisted of all 53 healthcare workers at the facility. A total sampling technique was used, meaning the entire population served as the sample. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods (specifically the chi-square test). The results revealed that the majority of respondents (60.4%) perceived their quality of work life as poor. Bivariate analysis indicated that work motivation (p=0.008) and workload (p=0.002) were significantly associated with the quality of work life, whereas work facilities were not (p=0.211). It is concluded that work motivation and workload are factors associated with the quality of work life for healthcare workers at the Sabbangparu Community Health Center. Therefore, the facility needs to enhance work motivation and properly evaluate and manage workloads as part of efforts to improve the quality of work life for its healthcare workers.
